Phenomenal place with great service all around. The sushi is amazing and always on point. I always mention this place to friends and family as one of the hidden gems of Oceanside. Lastly, although the place can get a bit packed, it is always worth the wait đ!

Sushi 4 Reel is a small sushi spot with a casual vibe, but the service and timing could use some improvement. I parked right in front of the restaurant, and while the lot was fairly full, I managed to find a spot without much trouble.
Upon entering, I stood by the doorway for a while before anyone acknowledged me, which wasnât the most welcoming start. There was only one sushi chef and one server/cashier handling everything, which likely contributed to the slower service. Once seated, I browsed the menu and placed my order: a Nigori Sake, Green Salad, Prada Roll, and Super Homeless Roll.
The drinks and salad came out relatively quickly, which I appreciated. However, the sushi took much longer than expected. It was about 30 minutes after my salad before I received my first roll, and then another 20 minutes before the next one arrived. This made the meal feel more drawn out than I would have liked.
As for the food, the Prada Roll was a highlightâspicy, fresh, and well-balanced in flavor. The Super Homeless Roll, on the other hand, was just average. It had a slightly tangy taste with a crunchy tempura texture, but the sauce was a bit too overpowering, masking some of the other flavors.
The atmosphere had a lively energy, but the loud music made it harder to have a relaxed dining experience. Additionally, a trip to the restroom revealed a lack of basic necessities like hand soap and paper towels, which was disappointing.
Overall, if you donât mind a slower-paced dining experience, Sushi 4 Reel might be a decent spot to check out. The food quality was good, but the long wait times and lack of attention to small details (like restroom supplies) made the experience less enjoyable. With faster service and a little more attention to customer needs, this place could be a solid choice for sushi lovers. For now, Iâd say itâs worth visiting if you have time to spare, but not if you're looking for a quick meal.

Food legit did not taste very good at all, sushi was beyond chewy and wet! If you eat sushi youâd understand what I mean. I paid and left. I would not recommend this place. Cost me 70 for two rolls, miso soup, and a box. I get it if the sushi was actually good.. but legit left a whole roll on the table. No need for a box. lol donât waste your time. Crazy loud techno music not necessary!!!

Iâve been trying to sit down and relax in a small sushi spot, close to home. All the other ones are big and filled with people. I happened to come at a perfect time when traffic was slow. I sure enjoyed one of the specialty rolls. I left happy thank you!
My favorite sushi spot by far. We drive up to Oceanside at least once a month to come here (live in Chula Vista). Im pretty sure weâve tried all of the rolls. The fish is always fresh and delicious. Service is amazing. Anytime I try a different spot closer to home, Iâm extremely disappointed.

Joohan delivers the best sushi I've ever had in my four decades plus of ordering from the best restaurants I can find and afford. The edible works of art are expertly prepared yet ephemeral in that they are devoured too quickly if not meditated on. Having recently traveled to Japan for two weeks, ordering sushi in Tokyo from several restaurants, I can say that nothing compared to the artistry of the rolls that Joohan serves. If you love quality, consistency, and appreciate an artist living in the flow, run, don't walk to Sushi4Reel. đŁ I can practically guarantee you won't be disappointed!
