The brewery and their beer (owned separately) is fantastic in every way. That Boy Good was not good at all. They went out of business. The 5 stars for atmosphere is for the brewery section. The Brewery owners are opening their own eatery in the area that was That Boy Good and the restaurant area now looks great!!! They have cleaned it up ( it’s now spotless) and redecorated in a cozy lodge feel. They’re advertising they’ll be serving “good mountain food”. I’m looking forward to enjoying their food along with their delicious beers.

Come for the barbecue, stay for the corn bread!! First time trying this out with my fiancé, I’m pretty picky with my barbecue/sauces, this one was a 8.7 out of 10, So I definitely enjoyed it, very unexpected… the wings were really delicious toO! We will be back to try more of the dishes ~ I enjoyed their atmosphere too, pretty clean, open space, plenty of seating. I liked that they’re partners with a local micro brewery. :) (PS. They give you a little moist towelette to wipe your hands after.) so cute ☺️

We had the combo, plenty for two people. Our favorite meat was the ribs! The pulled pork and brisket was a little dry for my liking. The cornbread and Mac and cheese was delicious. This place loves to put jalapenos in everything. Delicious sauce. And amazing service. The atmosphere is spacious and modern. Large patios where dogs are allowed.

Barbecue was nothing to write home about, sadly. BBQ sauce was the definition of "meh". Meat was chewy and had little flavor. Do yourself a favor and find another place for barbecue. Last thing I wanted to mention: There was a weird distracting smell thorought our visit, not sure what it was, but it definitely detracted from the experience and made us rush a bit more to get out of there.

I ordered a smoked brisket sandwich with a side of beans and a blonde draft beer. The sandwich and the beans were cold. Apparently not enough time in the microwave.I believe that the "smoked brisket" is actually poorly roasted tri-tip. Not smoked at all. See the picture for yourself. The meat was flavorless, dry and grisly.Covering the meat in a BBQ sauce doesn't make it BBQ. I was leary when the meal arrived. I had never seen a BBQ brisket sandwich like this. I took a nibble of the meat and the canned beans and all I can say is WOW! That was disgusting. Especially cold! I was hungry but I couldn't stomach that garbage. I took it home to the dog. When you're incompetent, and can't make a simple item like a smoked brisket sandwich, how can you trust the rest of the menu? The blues music, the service and the New Orleans ambiance is appealing.I can recommend That Boy Good to stop in for a cold draft. But at all costs, avoid the food. Or you'll be very disappointed. There are many better choices for dining in the area.

If you’ve never had bbq this place is a good start. I ordered delivery. The ribs and smoked sausage are the only thing I can recommend. Pulled pork was okay kinda tough and the brisket was super tough. Collard greens were not good and baked beans were undercooked ☹️. The BBQ sauce was very delicious! I wouldn’t get food from here again though.

The location off the 5 fwy in the strip mall was a HOT mess. The menu was VERY limited and pricey. At noon the inside dining area was closed off and we were forced to eat outside. Usually not a big deal in downtown SD where there is scenery. Not here. There were some homeless and sketchy looking people walking about. Fun times! Then came the food, chewy and absent the dipping sauce, would have been a disaster. Seriously? This is NOT what we anticipated. I've had MUCH better at, well, anywhere else really. Never mind that the ENTIRE time we were eating we were fighting off a swarm of flies. Gross! Hello provide a fan or something. Anyway, we had to redeem ourselves and go to the location off of coast Hwy. What a difference!! Go there (Lil Kim's ) instead.

Smoked Tri tip chili is the perfect chili oh my goodness. Nice, chill, brewery style atmosphere and excellent service.

Ribs, beans, and pulled pork were great. The beef links were alright. The cornbread was dry and mealy, not very good; the mac and cheese also felt like macaroni with cheese wiz on it, pretty bad. Since there are very few BBQ delivery locations near me, this one is the best. I would stick with the ribs, pulled pork, and beans.

Not a review on the food. We didn’t eat here. BBQ joint is attached to a brewery. If you are not ordering beer you are a bit of a second class citizen. The brewery will not let you sit inside or on their patio. There are some slanty, red picnic tables you can sit at. We were given a few paper menus and told where we were not allowed to sit. Server did not show up so we left. Maybe we were supposed to order at the counter.

When we went, it was as we expected - the images and general description online are telling - although at that moment possibly a bit understaffed. The brisket was solid and the service was good. I enjoyed the brisket fries a lot - although I must say liquid cheese is a guilty pleasure for me. Benches are available outdoors, allowing you to have a real audience in the people you bring with you - unlike many other bars where the noise and volume gets too high to hear people more than a foot away. Oddly enough I may have saved another patron's life that evening, but that's another story. The staff that evening were really excellent. I would definitely visit again. For me this place was a winner for the following reasons: - unpretentious atmosphere with good fare - lots of great craft beers to try, everything I tried was great - you can hear the people you hang out with, not because it isn't busy, but because the layout is open

The brisket was not good at all. It tasted like it was cooked two days ago. It was bland and sad and dry. The brisket deviled eggs sadly tasted of the same awful brisket. The baby back ribs were ok and the cornbread wasn't bad.

We sat down at the bar due to wait time at at around 7pm and ordered the shrimp basket with fries and Mac and cheese. Shrimp was very salty, not even edible, same with fries. Mac and cheese was okay, tasted like it came from a box. Corn bread was good. I ordered a bloody maria, which I thought come with the fixing but was charged for the 3 ribs, which were not cooked all the way, they were tough. I asked the bar tender and he brought 3 new ones that were the same and he said that they were smoked and that's why they were that way. Not a good meal..... I don't recommend this place at all. Service was good but overall not good food ? ? ?

Favorite place for pulled pork or brisket. Several sides to choose from but the mac and cheese is my favorite... also french fries, collard greens, cole slaw, smoked beans, corn bread, house salad. This is one of two locations. The other is Miss Kim's which is nearby on PCH in downtown O'side. Like the atmosphere better at this second location BUT parking can be an issue. Food is so good at both ~ they do catering?Brewery shares That Boy Good location and full bar at Miss Kim's.
