We loved everything about our experience at the Plot! Loved how well thought out each dish was and you can tell everything was made from scratch.
I didn't know what to expect, going to a sourdough bread making class. I settle in and I am offered a Cocktail or Mocktail. Without hesitation I say: "Cocktail". Same drink only mine has Sake. And I must say, that was the most delicious fruit forward drink I have ever had, with or without alcohol. But of course! It's the Plot. The napkin is garnished with a bitter but edible leaf called nasturtium. They use it in cocktails, salads and as a chimichurri. The leaf is spicy and delicious, and the flower is beautiful as a garnish. Owner Jessica comes over to comment that it matches my dress! And I didn't even know I can eat the leaf! She also says they have just formed a non-profit for the garden project to help fund its evolution and impact, and just received our 501c(3) status. So The Plot continuous on their upward path! I order a Fried Chicken Plate and share it with 3 people. And if the fake fried chicken (seitan) isn't delicious enough, the veggie side and cornbread with honey is equally amazing. We go through the process of learning how to make bread. The crew really backs the teacher up. The serve the sourdough focaccia with greens and an amazing pear saturated in delicious flavor, plus a cashew feta with spices on top. So good. So satisfying. As I look around the room, we fill half the restaurant and everyone is smiling and enjoying. Each of us leaves with sourdough starter in a ball jar. What a nice touch! My daughter got me a gift certificate. Using it next time for sure! With garlic, gusto and gratitude, Chef Marianđ„ đ Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Pinterest San Diego & Carlsbad Foodies
Went for a Sourdough Bread making event. Had some food as well. Everything was delicious and the staff was outstanding. It was so great to interact with the staff and the event was very educational while still being a lot of fun. Can't wait for their next class/event! Props to Nancy on putting on such a wonderful class. And also to Chef Josh for showing us all the ropes!
The Plot is an amazing Vegan restaurant with a focus on sustainability and creating zero food waste. The food is creative, combining flavors innovatively with a spectacular presentation. To start we had an panko crusted Eggplant with baba ghanoush and apricot sultana that was delicious. We paired that with a deviled crab fritter. For our entrees we had a clever Korean inspired sweet potato gnocchi, a seasonal baked risotto combining a tomato forward sauce and an amazing vegan bacon, and the always popular fried chickën and cornbread! Normally we don't have desert but the choices were just too tempting: a flourless brownie with apples and raspberries and a panna cotta that was prepared like a brûlée. You might think this would require a mortgage to pay for, but the cost was incredibly reasonable. We get to the plot as often as we can from the desert and can't wait to return!
Wow. I'm not vegan or vegetarian. Who knew âhealthyâ could be so gourmet? Went out my wheelhouse after a string of âheavyâ dinners and was blown away by the 5 course tasting menu. It wasn't just a meal, it was an experience replete with a story about each course. The bonus was great food w/o the awful feeling that sometimes follows too much meat and cheese. Can't wait to go back.
First, the food is delicious. We've been before and will be back. I always find the appetizers to be better than the entrees. My Korean bbq was a little too tough. Overall great night but it was my husbands birthday and while the hostess confirmed she had that on the reservation, the server never acknowledged it. We also had to wait a long time for service between entrees and deserts. A five-ten min wait just to get takeout boxes despite it being relatively quiet. So that is what warranted the lack of 5 stars.
I'm not vegan. Meatloaf was really good. Scallops really good. Chocolate tart desert was really good. Sushi was pretty good. Gnocchi was pretty good. The Korean bbq chicken was borderline inedibleâwas like chewing rubber...hate to say it, but was what came to mind. I would say 4.9 stars is just too high all said. This is like a 4.5 or below spot in my opinion. We will probably be back, but we are not rushing back.
Prices have increased and portion sizes have decreased, in addition to inconsistent preparation by kitchen staff. Iâve contacted the restaurant several times and things have only gotten worseâespecially this week. I want to support vegan restaurants, but this is my final straw. The Plot clearly does not care about their customers.
We took advantage of the tasting menu for our first visit, ïżŒwhich was simply perfect. Just the right amount of food, reasonably priced and so delicious. Top-notch vegan food, not that you would notice that it was vegan. Will definitely be coming back again and again. ïżŒ
The food was amazing!!! The tastes, textures and presentation was first class. We will definitely go back again.

My friend said the food was excellent. She was spot on. Went for brunch. Had the reuben and eggplant sandwiches plus an order of fries. For dessert the chocolate cake; hot chocolate to drink. The best and most flavorful meal I have had in San Diego!! Ruby who waited on us was kind and made us feel very special for my birthday celebration. Thank you, Ruby. You made this a birthday meal I will never forget! The Plot is fortunate to have you!

We discovered The Plot about a year and a half ago, and it quickly became one of our regular spots. Even now, weâll happily drive over an hour just to eat hereâbecause itâs that good. Hands down some of the best vegan food around, and honestly some of the best food in general.
The staff are consistently kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which makes every visit feel special. The menu is incredibly creative and originalâthereâs always something new to try, and youâll never get bored eating here. Every dish feels thoughtful, flavorful, and exciting.
As a family, this place has meant a lot to us, and with our upcoming move, itâs the restaurant we know weâll miss the most. If youâre anywhere in Southern California, The Plot is an absolute must, whether youâre vegan or not. Truly a gem in Oceanside.

This place is a must-visit if you like creative and delicious plant-based food. The vibe, the flavors, the service it all hits the mark. Go before it gets too popular ;)
First time making the trek up from North Park to try out The Plot and we had an incredible experience!
Ruby, or server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided a great overview of the menu and her favorite items.
The food itself was so delicious we actually forgot to take photos of everything. We started with the burrata (pictured) and it was full of fresh & delicious savory and sweet flavors.
We canât wait to visit again soon!

The menu varies seasonally but everything usually tastes amazing. I love their tofu chicken. The Ceasar salad is different than a traditional Cesar salad but really good. Both my grandson and husband, non vegans, love this salad. The last time I was there, I had the crab cake appetizer, it came with an amazing creamy sauce that was so good! I also ordered the winter squash appetizer, I really liked this dish, it also had a amazing sauce but more of a pesto like sauce.. But if you aren't a fan of winter squash, this most likely isn't for you. The eggplant parmagian is one of my favorites, but not always on the menu.
