The Privateer is the bomb. Oceanside’s got more than its fair share of great restaurants and wild little corners, the kind of spots that feel alive even when the air feels a little dangerous, and honestly, feeling safe is overrated.

This town was built by Marines, gangbangers, surfers, skaters, lifers, and now a wave of trust-fund babies rolling in with their kombucha and big ideas. But Privateer still has the soul of the old city baked right into the walls.

The pizza slaps, the salads are legit, the sandwiches are stacked, the beer list makes sense, and the vibe is pure Oceanside, unpolished, unpretentious, and proud of it.

Love this place!

We had the brisket burger, fish tacos 🌮 🥗
Fries with the burger were plentiful. Had to share.

Take out order made it home still hot and delicious.

Staff when I picked up were super nice.

Sorry I didn’t take photos…. I was bit hungry and we were watching the game.

Try the olive and goat cheese appetizer. The best. Great on-tap beer selection. If the weather is nice sit outside.

The server was so patient with us. Having a gluten allergy makes eating out difficult. This restaurant allowed me to enjoy a meal with my family.

Best family dinner we have had in a long time. Dominic was a great server and the staff in general was friendly and welcoming. We have two kids and they both enjoyed the food. Definitely our new go to.fungi pizza and the blue cheese burger top notch 👌🏼

Stopped by here for dinner after an afternoon surf sesh at San Onofre. Great local beers on tap, a hip list of wines, and they even have hard Kombuchas. Got a local Lager of some kind, I let the waitress choose, it was crisp and refreshing. My bro got a Mango Guava Kombucha and really liked it. Got meatballs and baja fish tacos as appetizers, both were excellent. Coal fired pizzas were the prize. We got the Surfrider Pie and the Fennel Sausage Pie. The house made fennel sausage was fantastic and not greasy at all. Incredible fresh ingredients that really stood out in every bite. Even the large sweet basil leaves were a flavor sensation unto themselves, actually sweet and aromatic, fantastic! The thin crust was cooked to perfection. Staff was upbeat cheerful and attentive, waitress was awesome and checked on us frequently. Clean hip modern style restaurant interior. They've got a full bar as well as tables to sit at, and offer outdoor seating. They had a replay of the recent WSL Teahupoo Tahiti Surf Contest on their TV, so extra cool points for that 🤙 Will definitely be making this a regular post surf stop.
