The Bartender Was A Pretty Cool Guy. I'm From Kingman Arizona. I Can't Wait To Go Back

T. E.

I was leaving the Doors cover concert with a girlfriend at libby Bowl. We got there late. We each bought one can of wine and hadn't finished it. It was our first drink of the night. We walked across the street to the Hub. The gray-haired bar tender said no outside alcohol allowed. We quitely went outside to the back to finish our $14 can of wine. My friend and I were speaking to a couple of interesting Mexican gentlemen. They were funny making us laugh. When we attempted to go back inside, he was out there and told us we could not come in and he would not serve us. I asked to use the restroom, and he refused. I really don't understand why he acted this way. We had one wine, and we were very respectful. We didn't even say anything when he told us to leave. My friend said what the heck just happened. Maybe he didn't like those guys. Maybe he didn't like the way we looked. We didn't smoke. We honestly just were laughing with a couple of strangers. I just can't figure out why we were treated this way.

Avoid at all costs. The curmudgeon, balding bartender was rude and horribly off putting. Will never come back. This place is a complete dump.

The locals do not want you at their bar! We had a large easy going group come in after a great wedding wanting to continue the celebrations. Several us of could tell right away the vibe was not good. We were right....Bartender was a j*** and locals we're looking for a fight. I've been to a lot of dive bars when traveling and had a great time but highly recommend skipping this one!

Super predatory behavior welcomed at The Hub. Went on a Wednesday night and it was unexpectedly busy. A woman hopped behind the bar to help out, and kept giving my friend free drinks. After the rush, she came out from behind the bar and started making out with my friend. I told the bartender my friend didn't want to make out with her and that she had a girlfriend and the bartender walked away. A little bit later, she came back, pushed me aside to get back to my friend, pulled her away, and started making out again. I pulled them apart again and said the woman needed to leave us alone. She stepped away for a bit but as she passed me to go back to the bar, she threw her drink on me. She went to make herself another drink and acted like it never happened and I was the causing a problem. I called a few days later to speak to the owner because he needed to know what was going on with people working at the bar and my call was never returned. After speaking to friends and other Ojai residents about the Hub, so many of them have stories of people being predatory and retaliating when boundaries are put up and it's shocking more people don't know how dangerous this place can be

Wont accept passports…. PASSPORTS. This is ridiculous. How am i meant to have a legal california ID if I’m Australian. This makes no sense and I’m extremely disappointed. Only happens when the same man is working, every other employer is fine with it.

The owner is absolutely horrible. I am from Ireland and I only have my passport or Irish ID on me. Steve refused to look at it and kicked us out. Very discriminatory against foreigners.

First off I recognize that this is a dive bar. It didn’t smell bad which was nice. An entrance in the front and an entrance in the back, cash only. Two salty dogs working the bar, who seemed to never have enough change, consistently giving back 5 to 10 dollar notes as if you will tip them more than 1-2 dollars for each beer. The karaoke was top notch and the MC held it down. Girlfriend was annoyed by the fact that the salty dogs handed out free plastic water bottles to replace their laziness of washing some cups, so much unnecessary plastic. Overall we liked the classy coors banquet in a bottle and the enthusiastic karaoke crowd, 3.2 stars out of 5.

Seriously!! Watching the owner mesmerized by watching Fox News with volume on high with the main TV and the only other tv had trot horse races. What an insensitive, selfish clueless F—-

Don’t come here unless you want to be kicked out or bullied. One of the only places in Ojai where you can expect someone to want to fight you.
