Unethical. We were charged for a Zabuton, but they gave us a different cut twice, and tipped them. Cypress provided excellent service compared to this location. Why can't you just let us know you're sold out instead of cheating people? Avoid this location.@Owner: You should try the Zabuton at Cypress and see the difference between what you gave us. You gave us Belly toro definitely not marbled meat 100%.

So we decided to give this location a shot since it's fairly near to us. For some reason the flavors are not the same. Not sure what it is but the Irvine location is still better. Service was ok, they actual made a mistake on the order a little but understandable as it's a newer location.

Would definitely go there again. Friendly staff and food came out quick. They didn't rush you. We ordered the Mokoji flat iron marinated beef with miso broth.

Was so excited to see one open up here. Food was amazing but dang, customer service is so POOR, almost non-existent!. I asked to speak to the manager and the waiter just said no she's not here. Nobody checked in on us, basically had to flag them multiple times just for a simple refill. Then they just dropped the bill to our table without saying anything. Our experience was so horrible that we're probably not going to come back until they train their staff to act professional and courteous. So unfortunate that the quality of the food was so good but the poor service left such a bad taste in our mouths.

Food was delicious. Lots of options for broth and spicy. Veggies and dipping sauce were on point too. Great service as well. Lots of meat options. Definitely will keep coming here for my shabu shabu cravings.

Food has always been great. But they cancelled my reservation 20 mins before my time because they “wanted to close early since it’s been slow all day” . I had a party of 6 at 7:15pm , drove half an hour to get here now what lol?

Halal. Shabu. And GOOD halal shabu. This is not an easy feat. They have regular menu with halal beef options (must get it marinated for all that added flavor). Great service, always clean, and yummy meat. Nothing beats shabu during a California winter. The spicy miso broth is also a must.

My bf and I weren't too hungry, so we shared the XL toro beef belly. This was more than enough food, we probably could've gotten away with just the large size! The marinated meat is so yummy and makes your broth garlicky! We had the spicy broth, which wasn't too spicy and tasted like soondubu soup haha

Food was pretty good, but like some of the other reviews have mentioned, the service was extremely slow and almost non-existent. Management seriously needs to have at least two more staff working the restaurant so customers aren’t waiting 5-10 minutes to be given a menu and additional 5-10 minutes to have their order taken. I want to say the guys working yesterday did their best, and when they did approach us, they were super friendly and got us what we asked for/needed, but again, just felt like it was way understaffed or just needed to pick up the pace considering there were only maybe 10 other people in the restaurant for lunch on a Thursday. Didn’t feel like it was worth a $40-50 meal tbh. Thanks anyway!

I've always loved mokkoji but I'm so glad to have one close to me now. I like to come here when I'm craving hot pot or soup after a long day and don't want to cook. Lol my husband commented the other day that it seems like the meat portions have gotten bigger and bigger each time we have come, no complaints here. So yummy. We also like to get the fried fish balls.

Great vibe, food, service, & company! Ordered the spicy miso broth w/ large marinated flat iron Angus beef, was delish, veggies are unlimited but there's room for improvement on the selection, recommendation is to order XL on the meat!

They were completely empty except for two people and they only take reservations every 30 mins. It was 5:09 pm when we arrived as a family of 3, 2 adults and a toddler. There were three empty tables and a bar with high stool chairs, with one lower bar section with only 2 chairs. They only had two customers together at one table in entire establishment. They would not seat us at a table that would accommodate us and our child because of reservations, the earliest available reservation was at 530pm which was still available when we left and only one available that we tried to book at 445 but knew we would get there before so did not. Extremely poor customer services and lack of time management.
