The service by everyone was amazing. A great way to dine. You are able to savor all the courses by pacing your meal. Great place to celebrate a special ocasion
I like the old look of the restaurant with the antiques and all the pictures on the walls. The smoking section should be in the parking lot not next to the main door has smoke comes in
I would only recommend dining at The Hobbit if you are prepared to have one of the best culinary experiences of your life. I have been lucky enough to dine here on three different occasions and it has never let me down. The staff is made of relaxed and friendly individuals who will treat you with kindness and make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your dinner. Chilly? They will bring you a shawl. Dietary restrictions? They will come up with a substitute. Questions about the ancient history of the land where the grapes grew before they became your wine? They will tell you all about it. They will tell you all about the origins of the food and wine and dazzle you with fun facts about your dinner. The food is perfect. Perfectly cooked, perfectly portioned, perfectly paired and perfectly interesting. There is nothing boring about the menu and yet it all feels delightfully approachable. I highly recommend the wine pairing to go with your perfect meal. I loved every wine that was served and I am pretty picky about wine. They were perfectly paired with the courses and enhanced the food just like a good wine pairing should. I really cannot speak more highly of The Hobbit. It is a 11/10 experience.
Matthew and his delightful staff never fail to impress. Such an incredible dining experience, unmatched in Orange County. We cannot wait to return to The Hobbit.
One of greatest fining experiences in Southern California. If you are looking for a special occasion - the Hobbit is it!
Worth every second. This experience was marvellous. Alexander, our Sommelier, was a wonderful storyteller with a charismatic bardic tune, truly a great fit for his position. Joelle was also a wonder hostess. She presented the food well even with my husband's preferences and my allergies. She was so welcoming and made sure to check in and make sure everything was going how we expected and were enjoying ourselves. This was an overall great experience that i would do again. Thank you The Hobbit Staff for a wonderful birthday surprise for my husband. We both had a wonderful time
Fantastic experience and dinner service. Service was professional yet personable. If you opt for the wine pairing, drink water between your servings. Generous pours and perfect pairings.
A worthwhile one-time experience. Call me unrefined, but three hours is a long time — too long — for six courses. The meal would have been more enjoyable in two. The food was delicious, and mostly unfussy. The service was excellent. We paid $470 for two dinners ($150 each) plus two glasses of wine, a cocktail and the included 18% gratuity. This felt like a lot for what we received in return, especially when compared with other local restaurants, such as The Cellar, The White House or Summit House. Again, it was an interesting evening and I'm glad we did it once.
Sending a very special couple to enjoy your Dinner for 2 with Wine Pairing as a Christmas gift this year! Everyone should experience the Hobbit at least once!

The Hobbit delivers a memorable and wonderful dining experience. It is our all time favorite restaurant and we highly recommend it!
We have been coming to The Hobbit for years now and it has never been better than it is right now. Matthew McKinney as owner with Chef Nick has really elevated and brought the dining experience into a new era while maintaining the original charm and elegance.
Tonight’s entree was the O’Connor Filet Mignon and it is difficult to describe how good that cut of steak was. Beyond tender and absolutely perfectly cooked. The other standout was the scallop agnolotti. That should be illegal how good it was. The wine pairing for the night was perfect as usual.
The entire team, Joelle, Alex, Andrew, etc just made it an amazing night.

One of the best restaurants ai tried so far in OC. Fine dining at its best! We had the 6 course menu with wine tasting. Every dish was impeccable and service was very warm and friendly. A bit pricey, but that's expected for q fine dining experience.

My husband and I came to The Hobbit for my birthday, and it was such a special experience! The food was great- every course felt thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The whole evening was truly unique. But what made it even better was our bartender and server, Alexander. He was so knowledgeable about the wine pairings, and his kindness and attention to detail really stood out. You can tell he genuinely cares about making the night memorable.
