The Hobbit delivers a memorable and wonderful dining experience. It is our all time favorite restaurant and we highly recommend it!
We have been coming to The Hobbit for years now and it has never been better than it is right now. Matthew McKinney as owner with Chef Nick has really elevated and brought the dining experience into a new era while maintaining the original charm and elegance.
Tonight’s entree was the O’Connor Filet Mignon and it is difficult to describe how good that cut of steak was. Beyond tender and absolutely perfectly cooked. The other standout was the scallop agnolotti. That should be illegal how good it was. The wine pairing for the night was perfect as usual.
The entire team, Joelle, Alex, Andrew, etc just made it an amazing night.

One of the best restaurants ai tried so far in OC. Fine dining at its best! We had the 6 course menu with wine tasting. Every dish was impeccable and service was very warm and friendly. A bit pricey, but that's expected for q fine dining experience.

My husband and I came to The Hobbit for my birthday, and it was such a special experience! The food was great- every course felt thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The whole evening was truly unique. But what made it even better was our bartender and server, Alexander. He was so knowledgeable about the wine pairings, and his kindness and attention to detail really stood out. You can tell he genuinely cares about making the night memorable.
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. We had a wonderful time celebrating. The staff was amazing. We had a very nice time speaking to our waiter, Andrew. The environment was amazing. The food was impeccable, and the conversations that we had with each other in this environment, held a special moment for us. Overall, you recommend The Hobbit for a very special occasion, and a memorable moment to share in conversations with our friends. we will return and enjoy other moments in the special place .
Had the most amazing experience at The Hobbit for my husband’s birthday! Alex was our waiter and made it so, so special. I haven’t had an experience like this in probably 10+ years. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone looking to make their birthday (or any celebration) extra special!

The experience was simply amazing and unforgettable something that I've been looking for, and I couldn't find anywhere else. I've already made another reservation for December. Alex was extremely knowledgeable with every course and made our evening that much more special. Make a reservation as soon as possible!

An incredible dining experience at The Hobbit! Beautiful ambience, exceptional service and exquisite food. Everything was perfection from start to finish. ❤️
Everything was TRULY exquisite. This is definitely a place for those who have open minds with their palettes. The Somalier pairing was definitely an adventure that I would take again. I will DEFINITELY return during another season for another experience.
From start to finish, the dining experience is something special and unique. The restaurant is a beautiful historic home in Orange. The cocktail hour takes place in the wine cellar. The meticulously crafted cocktails are delicious. We were surprised with a small snack to enjoy while there. Once the dinner service started, we were brought to an intimate room to enjoy the feast. Each course is well executed. The wine pairings were perfectly executed.
Restaurant is a good place to go for special occasions. However, when paying that price, attention to detail is 100% important. Little things like our name misspelled on our name card or wrong wine pairing during the course made me chuckle. I've been blessed in my life to have attended some of the best tasting menu restaurants in the country, and this place was good, but not best. It did offer a unique dining experience as you got to walk around during intermission, meet the chef, tour the kitchen, etc. The building has a lot of historical context to the region of Orange, CA, so that is neat. I loved how all the servers knew their menu and what they were serving, including little details about where things are from or produced. My steak was cooked to perfection. Don't get me wrong, it was a good experience, but I think little tweaks could make take this place to the next level.

I expected the food to be so delicious, but my husband and I were so disappointed, we paid almost $600 with wine, I have eaten in many fancy restaurants with excellent food and nice ambience beautiful places, I was not happy with my meal so sorry, I hardly give negative feedback, the place inside it’s like an old house, we had a couple near by that kept kissing so loud, was annoying, we couldn’t wait to leave, I forgot my expensive wine on the table, they did called me to let me know, that’s was nice, the best part of the whole experience was at the cellar, before dinner, we met some people and just mingled. Sometimes the presentation of the food doesn’t mean it’s delicious, it really needed flavor.
