What a unique experience! I was at the Hobbit for a bachelorette dinner. Six guests with a room to ourselves, great service s c good food in a neat venue. Very memorable.
This is my favorite restaurant in the world. The way they have such a unique experience in such a random part of CA - I just love this place. The food is so good! The drinks, the vibe, the service - I love this place. I first came here 10 years ago and I’ve come back once a year since. I have to call out our bartenders and servers Nick and Alex - they really took care of us. Same with Matt and the somm Raf! This place is the best. I’ll be back at least once a year forever!
We’ve been here several times now and it’s always a great time. They’ve done a beautiful job remodeling the restaurant, the owner is fantastic, they have good wine, and they’re willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. It’s a real treat coming to The Hobbit. Thank you Matthew and team for making our evening so enjoyable!
The experience was fantastic. The service was very good save not having the Intermission explained to us. The cocktails were amazing. The food divine. I don't know enough about wine to say about the pairing we had other than we enjoyed it all.
The food was good we liked the old style where they served chapagne and lots of horderves in the cellar. The prices was very expensive considering what you get. I was celebrating my 59 birthday and it was great however the bill was over $1100.00 for a party of 4. Also, we had to purchase two bottle of wine as wine does not come with your meal unless you pay an additional $75.00 per person. The total bill would have been the same. As the two bottles we purchased we $300.00 total. in any case wine or not is is way over priced.
This has been a favorite restaurant of mine for about 30 years. It's my go-to place for special occasions and celebrations. We treated a longtime friend for her milestone birthday, and the evening didn't disappoint. From champagne and appetizers at the beginning to delicious course after course (and intermission) and wines, we had a wonderful time. The service was also outstanding. We will certainly return.
Excellent experience. The chef is top notch, service is impeccable, drinks are wonderful. Worth it.
nice and quiet/romantic. they needed to have a serving fork for the appetizers downstairs. waitstaff seemed rushed. amazing food and wine. great idea to have folks walk around and chat before the main course.
We've come here on a few special occasions and has always been a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional. Highly recommend the wine pairing. Not only to compliment the dishes, but the wines as also delicious on their own.
It was not the same experience as the when the original owners had it . It changed you don't have appetizers and cocktails in the basement any more when you arrive at 6 pm . You don't have any seating when get intermission . So you have to go outside or walk for 10-15 min . Is less food but, quality is little better and $$$.

Food and service was excellent. Very comfortable and spacious but I feel that it it was a little pricey for the amount you get. Would return but not for a while.
The Hobbit staff made this special evening memorable. I could not ever find a more gracious group of staff members to make our evening more enjoyable. We each felt pampered. Each course was thoughtful and unique. I was especially appreciative of the accommodation the Hobbit made for my daughter...it was her 60th birthday this past Saturday. When Jodi called me to confirm our reservation for 3, she asked about any dietary issues with our party. I had to mention that my daughter (the birthday girl) just could not endure any seafood or fish. That was no problem for the Hobbit staff, who made substitutions in the Amuse-Bouche AND the First Course. She was delighted to receive Quail in place of Mt. Lassen Steelhead trout for the First Course. I had a bite of her Quail, and it was delicious! The Prime New York Strip was tough, and my sister (who ordered Rare) was initially served a Medium piece of meat, which, of course was replaced in short order. These things do happen. Overall, the evening was 4 hours of indulgence including the Cocktail period. It made a memorable special birthday event for a very special lady. Thank you.
This was a wonderful experience! It was a beautiful historic house and the romantic ambiance was perfect! The food was delicious and the wine pairing was on point. We enjoyed the servers who explained everything about the food and the wine. This is a special experience and will one for the memory books!
Excellent service , from greeted at the door to attention at the table Food was good , a nice variety , due to the dark ambiance was not able to see the presentation well, first bites , nice , not very inviting , taste good The lamb ragu w cavatelli, had a good taste Sorbet a great palate cleanser I chose the Black cod that got lost in the mushroom sauce , the lobster glaze really did not give a taste as the brown sauce took over the taste Last the Dark chocolate tart , pastry very dry would have needed a small whipped cream on the side As a birthday treat the chocolate mousse wax the delicious The staff really shined , the somalier very good presentation oc wines
We had our 26 year anniversary dinner last night. It was spectacular. my wife and I have been frequenting this restaurant since its inception in 1972. Matthew, the new owner as of last year has done a fantastic job in doing updating and freshening up the place. The staff, the chef who came to our table, did a fantastic job. The food was delicious and on point. We never felt rushed and felt we were in a fine dining restaurant. It’s a must go to gem.
