Excellent restaurant, food, wine, service, useful and interesting information. Very good impressions. Expensive. Thank you.
Matt has created a vastly elevated experience from the Hobbit that we knew a decade ago. The care and creativity into each course was fantastic. We did the wine pairing and could not have been happier - the wine selections really brought out nuanced flavors in each dish (watermelon gazpacho is lovely w/ a Teusner Mataro, who knew?). I want the goat cheese cheesecake desert again for my birthday. Anxious to celebrate another special occasion soon @ The Hobbit.
We returned to the Hobbit for the first time in many years. The place was renovated in 2023 and the chef has changed. We missed the free flowing bubbly and appetizers in the cellar before dinner. Alcohol is all extra now and only one appetizer choice was provided and it was simply set out on a table. Before there was staff walking around filling glasses and providing multiple appetizer choices. They have gotten rid of the sitting room upstairs so we missed that too. We were a party of 6 so we were seated in the cellar which was a very nice environment and ambiance. The dinner choice was very limited. There was only one part of the dinner out of 7 courses where you had a choice. For me everything was too exotic. I am not a fan of goat cheese and I believe 3 items had goat cheese in it. Our waiter and service were great and the wine pairings were excellent. The food however was just not my thing, not even the filet. Needless to say, for the price, sadly we won't be returning.
The Hobbit is a “must do” experience. The meal was spectacular. The filet mignon was the best I have ever eaten! Service was top drawer and the ambiance was perfect.
The Hobbit was a wonderful experience , I had wanted to go there for many years ! Food, drinks and staff were right on point. If you want to spend a wonderful evening with loved ones, I highly recommend this place.
Wonderful experience! Food, cocktails and ambience was perfect. It will be a night we will remember for a long time!!
What a unique experience! I was at the Hobbit for a bachelorette dinner. Six guests with a room to ourselves, great service s c good food in a neat venue. Very memorable.
This is my favorite restaurant in the world. The way they have such a unique experience in such a random part of CA - I just love this place. The food is so good! The drinks, the vibe, the service - I love this place. I first came here 10 years ago and I’ve come back once a year since. I have to call out our bartenders and servers Nick and Alex - they really took care of us. Same with Matt and the somm Raf! This place is the best. I’ll be back at least once a year forever!
We’ve been here several times now and it’s always a great time. They’ve done a beautiful job remodeling the restaurant, the owner is fantastic, they have good wine, and they’re willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. It’s a real treat coming to The Hobbit. Thank you Matthew and team for making our evening so enjoyable!
It's pricey; not gonna lie. But, the service and personal attention paid to each of us was wonderful. Although we weren't going to go with the recommended wine pairings, we are very happy that we did! Matthew's selections were wonderful. The carrot cake was the best that I've ever had.

So happy I found this place. From the time you walk in to the time you request your bill. It is definitely an experience you don't want to miss.
Owner exhibits poor customer service. Who calls the cops over $150 corkage fee on a $3000 tab 😂
The Hobbit is a lovely restaurant to have a special dining experience. The service is incredible. Their wine cellar is extraordinary. It's a formal dining experience. There's one service a night. This latter fact brings about the only down side. Because every course is served to every diner at the same time, there are issues with food being overcooked. With my meal, for example, the pasta in the first course and the pork in the second course were slightly overcooked. But that's hard to avoid when everyone eats at the same time. The testing menu was creative. The food was well seasoned. The wine pairings were perfect. It's a fine dining experience that I truly enjoyed.
The experience was fantastic. The service was very good save not having the Intermission explained to us. The cocktails were amazing. The food divine. I don't know enough about wine to say about the pairing we had other than we enjoyed it all.
For the money, food, drinks, and experience was lack luster It was as good as any fine dining restaurant, food was good, service was good, drinks were good, just with a extra 1.5x tacked on For the price, drinks should be included and the music should never touch reggae, and I'm a reggae fan, just didn't match up to the ambiance at all, completely out of place
