I go to Urth Caffe locations often. People romantically write that you can feel the chef's verve in good food. The opposite is the case here: the greeny dishes seemingly wilt under the palpable stress of the workers juggling one entitled customer after another.
Despite this, the coffee and pastries are absolute delights that warrant repeated visits to these ornate outcroppings. The LA locations are particularly good for people watching, and relaxing.

I’ll start with the positive: The staff were very friendly and patient. The guys on the espresso machine pumping out drinks were beasts! They killed a mile long ticket train and started knocking out drinks fast!
Ok so we paid about $40 for one pastry and 2 iced teas to go. We opted for the pistachio tiramisu. The pastry was severely disappointed. The only thing pistachio about it was the crumbled outer crust of them. The inside was a flavorless sugar filling and I’m not even sure if the cake part was a light chocolate or I was hoping something coffee flavored?! It was a cake of no flavor. It was all flavorless. Like it was the most flavorless sugar cake I’ve ever had.
Now the iced tea of the day was blackberry and I LOVE a fruit and tea blend. But they had steeped the tea WAY too long and it was extremely bitter. The blackberry couldn’t save it and it ended up being too harsh of a butter flavor for me. We also ordered the iced Thai tea, and while I’m well aware this is a sweet beverage of condensed milk, it was SO thick and sweet that is undrinkable. It was like drinking a pure simple syrup drink and I hardly tasted any of the actual red Thai tea aspect of it. We ended up not being able to finish ANY of it and couldn’t consume more that a couple of sips and a couple of bites of everything. I ended up leaving basically everything there and couldn’t even fathom finishing all that sugar. You guys need to quality control a lot of your menu items. We basically wasted $40 and it was a disappointment.

First time here July 2025 I didn't even know there was an Urth here. This location is roomy and I love the big table with the fire and lighting underneath it's so cool and fits the vibe here. The staff was very friendly and kind! Will definitely be back soon.
