My husband used to go to the old Far Western before they moved while he was working in the area. I was only there the one time. They moved right after and we had not been to the new one. For some reason it popped up in my computer and we had forgotten about it. We scheduled our trip to Pismo to include one more night so that we could go. It was great and the new location is very nice. We had the filets with the shrimp cocktails, and he had the soup and polenta and I had the salad and ravioli. The food and the service was great and we will now be including an extra night to our Pismo visits to include this restaurant.

Simply put, delicious from appetizer to entree ! Every bite is as good as the first . Service is excellent and attentive without being too intrusive . The atmosphere is warm and inviting . I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Surf and turf delicious meal . I had the New York steak and Shrimp . The steak was cooked to perfection and was amazingly delicious . shrimp were equally outstanding, cooked and taste was beyond words . I recommend any cut of steak from The Far Western Tavern. My girlfriend Had salmon and a lobster tail . I of course had a taste of her meal and again . I was completely blown away by the Salmons perfect taste and amazingly delectable lobster tail . All cooked to exact perfect levels . You cannot find much better surf and turn style food than the Far Western Tavern serves. We will be going back many, many times . I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

One of the local staples of our community, far western have it is always a great place to go! It has a fun, energetic atmosphere with great service and the food is always very good. I made the reservation at eight not realizing they actually closed at eight, and I know and I would've done an earlier one. I don't like being the guy who keeps people past closing. 😬 they were all great sports about it, and the food was still amazing even though they were about to close the kitchen, highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Our server was attentive he was an older Hispanic man, great service. I had the filet mignon medium rare with a baked potato, my steak was lacking flavor, the baked potato was better seasoned.

With a reservation service was very delayed. We ended up going to the bar for drink vs waiting. While we were waiting to be served, we heard a man get up from his table and ask for service. My husband sent back his salmon. The steak was okay. There are other steak houses in the area we prefer.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner. We were so happy to find a nice restaurant serving dinner that night. They were pretty slammed but with a reservation we only had to wait a few minutes to get seated. They took us to a large banquet room upstairs sectioned off by dividers. Luckily they do have an elevator as my elderly mother could not have used the stairway. It was a little funky upstairs, not as nice as downstairs, but quieter. There were lots of uncleared tables. Our server, Louisa was awesome, friendly, and doing a great job. All of the staff were calm, friendly, did not seem flustered by working the holiday. I got a good Old Fashioned. The meal was a set menu with choice of roasted turkey or prime rib. Both were delicious, the prime rib was a little salty on the outside. The portions were large, we couldn't finish and mom will have at least two meals from leftovers. Would definitely go back.

This is our second time we have gone for Thanksgiving dinner and we thought for the price which is expensive it was just okay. Then they charged for dessert in addition to the dinner price which is not worth it. Will most likely be our last time we go there for Thanksgiving dinner.

Our last two dinners at Far Western Tavern have been really disappointing. On our previous visit, I had to send my steak back twice and it still wasn't cooked correctly. My boyfriend's steak was overcooked as well. Not sure what's going on with their kitchen staff, but it hasn't been good. Last night was the final straw. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad. They brought out the salad and told me the chicken would be out in about five minutes. Fifteen minutes later, I had already finished the entire salad and still no chicken. The server came back to say they were told it would be another five minutes. At that point I told him to forget it — I was already done with my meal, and my boyfriend had finished his too. The food quality has definitely gone downhill since COVID, and the service has been hit-or-miss at best. We probably won't be back for dinner anytime soon, though we might still stop in for drinks.
