I went to FedEx to print out the McConnell's gift cards I purchased on a self-service machine, so I would have something physical to give to my recipients. After I submitted my jobs, the printer had an issue and staff were not able to resolve it while I was present. Concerned that, when it was resolved, my gift cards would print out and be picked up by an unknown party, I attempted to contact McConnell's to request a reissue of my gift cards for security reasons. I left a message and sent an e-mail immediately after the incident occurred. Nobody responded. About a week later, I followed up with another voice mail to their customer service line. Again, no response. I rang one more time. Finally someone picked up - it was a person from the wholesale team who told me that the customer service team were out to lunch. She took a message and told me someone would call me back before close of business. I waited by the phone for several hours but nobody rang. At that point, my confidence in McConnell's was shot. I tried calling again the next day but, when I couldn't reach anyone, wrote an e-mail to request a refund for the gift cards I had purchased, since I was now not only concerned about the security breach, but by McConnell's astonishingly poor customer service (to which I now did not wish to expose my gift recipients). I never received a response to that e-mail either. As a result, I contacted AmEx to avail of their Purchase Protection plan (something I have never before had to do) and was promptly reimbursed. To put this experience in context -- by contrast, I was also trying to print out a gift card from Miami Fruit when the FedEx debacle happened -- when I reached out to them about my security concerns, the Miami Fruit team voided and reissued my gift card, all within less than a 24 hour period. TL;DR: customer service never responded, despite multiple attempts to contact them about a gift card security concern -- I will NEVER be purchasing from McConnell's again.
