Tierra Sur At Herzog Wine Cellars

We were seated near the kitchen and I could overhear everything the staff was saying and not all of it was appropriate. We were pleased with the food portions and taste as well as the wine pairing. Truly the ambiance was what was lacking. Unfortunate as it was our first experience and we were celebrating my birthday.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and traveling to multiple wineries in California. We had a fantastic experience here. The service, food and wine were all great! Special shoutout to Elijah, our sommelier, for making the experience even more enjoyable!

I realize that kosher food is priced at a premium. However, when spending close to $200 per person, I do expect the quality of food to be far superior than what we had eaten. From a quality perspective, I believe that the restaurant is overpriced by at least 1/3 of where they should be. When I made the reservation , I naïvely thought that we would be overlooking a vineyard and that the view would be part of the overall experience. There is no view per se. Again, it was a lovely dinner, but the price point was not consistent with the quality of the food or the experience 

I was really looking forward to going here. We ordered a veal chop and it was not great. Super salty and extremely tough. They replaced with a ribeye. It was good but not great. I ordered it medium rare and it was medium. There was also zucchini on top and it was also salty The smoked mashed potatoes were amazing. The service was superb.

Great dining experience paired with perfect wine choices!! Great helpful staff! Will definitely come back when in town

Honestly one of the worst meals I have ever had. Couldn't recommend any part of the food. The wine was amazing though!

I have been going to this restaurant for years. The food is outstanding as is the service. It's an elegant well thought out dining experience plus of course you can't go wrong with the wines. Definitely recommend it, especially for special occasions.

I'm a member at the Herzog Winery and always have great experiences with my wine tasting... This was my third time to the restaurant, but it had been a while... The place was empty, which I'm not surprised based upon the service and food... It was definitely very good quality food But it was served a little overcooked and cold or lukewarm at best... On all four dishes... Service was spotty as well. I probably would've complained, but I had a good client in town who I had taken out to dinner and I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it, but I did mention it to the restaurant manager who came over to check and see how we were doing about halfway through our meal. but we were so hungry. We had eaten about half of our meal already, but I did tell him about the temperature of the food And pretty much exactly what I am saying here... Of course they did nothing...  for the ridiculous prices that they are charging... This was a far cry over from satisfactory... Tierra Sur definitely needs to sharpen their pencil... I hope this review entices them to do just that. 

The spring salad was ok The linguini is a shame, some parts were not cooked and the sause was nothing to write home about. The brocolini wad over burned. The ribeye stake wasnt ecxiting, it was taugh. The new york stake was excellent for that pricetwo people with no desset for 380$ i would expect much more

We very much enjoyed it overall. The 1st 2 courses were delicious- however both my husband and i took the chicken as 3rd course and we felt that was too dry. The service was very good Overall ir was a nice experience.

This is a great find to take an out of town guest. Great food and wine pairings. I gave a 4 star on $$$ as a gentle reminder one should anticipate spending a few hundred dollars on this quality meal and wine pairing and leaving an exceptional tip. Truly a Herzog fine dining experience.

The menu was a marvelous mix of originality! My grilled fish on a lovely purée was delicious, and the broccolini was the best I have had. Frying it made it crisp and yet tender. The pistachio, chocolate and matcha pudding dessert was a great ending. A taste of wine accompanied every dish, a very nice bonus. Our waiter Sean was elegant and so accommodating.

Had a dinner there is friends, a great mea and good times were had. Tierra Sur is a wonderful hidden gem!

The wine tasting experience was amazing as usual. The "winetenders" were attentive and very friendly. The food at Tierra Sur was delicious as always.

Perfect place for a fancy date. A rare gem in Oxnard. Every food served is paired with aged wine.
