The imitation crab in the California roll had an unusual off putting flavor that differs from the flavors I am used to but otherwise was ok. I was disappointed of the lack of rice bowls outside of lunch hours.
The surfaces of everything were quite sticky and needed cleaning but was ok except several dirty plates were left on tables.
Waiter was inattentive, forcing the chef to intervene. I am disappointed in tipping when the chef had better service than the waiter.
Otherwise an average Japanese restaurant with some problems.

My family and I love visiting Yokozuna’s for their great food and atmosphere. The owner is a great guy who makes the best hand rolls I’ve had! It’s always a joy talking with him and the staff! Yokozuna’s will continue to be my go to spot for great sushi and conversation with my family!

Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. I ordered the crazy shrimp roll which is supposed to have shrimp tempura inside and popcorn shrimp on top. Most of the “popcorn shrimp” is all tempura batter, and some filler strands of imitation crab. Same thing with inside the roll- it looks like at least one of the pieces is just tempura batter… I called the restaurant after getting home and noticing this, but the owner wasn’t willing to own up to the issue of not providing with he charged for. I would have taken a small discount because I’m not driving the food back at this point. I really wanted a crazy shrimp roll not a crazy filler roll. See photos for the “popcorn shrimp”

6/30/24 first time here. We walked over from the courtyard (other side of the RR tracks). Upon approaching we heard loud Latin music and were surprised to find a live band at this restaurant. They sounded good but very loud for the space. So loud we had to order by typing the list of stuff on the phone and showing it to the sushi chef. Lol... But it worked and the food was really good! I'd certainly eat here again, if I'm ever in Oxnard again. Nice and friendly staff too. Place was clean as well.
Dietary restrictions: You should like Japanese food. If not, choose a different place.
Parking: Tell others about parking eh? Well, you should park carefully, park in between the lines, drive slow in the lot. Don't dent other vehicles when you open your door. Give way to pedestrians. Be nice. Now you know. ?

Brought my son here to try sushi for the first time. He loved it! Great service and amazing food!!!
Been coming here since 2016 just went yesterday and it's bad lol. Food quality/quantity is bad and doesn't reflect the price. Service sucks cause they have 3 high school girls who just started. Atmosphere also sucks, it stinks in there like sewage. Overall there's plenty of other places to go for better service and quality of food, maybe this place is on its last legs.

EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! We ate at the restaurant. The menus and table were sticky and grimy. I tried to go to the restroom to wash my hands, no paper towels to dry with. Plus the restroom was down a dark creepy hallway. I don't think the seafood was fresh...the scallops were gray and slimy. My husband and I can't be away from the restroom after eating thus disgusting excuse for "food". I think the good reviewers have never been to a good sushi restaurant before. The staff acted like we bothered them by just walking in. I think I know why we were the only ones in there...that should have been clue # 1
