We've loveed Peppers and have been going there for years. Unfortunately the service is inconsistent. Our server left us alone and never checked back. We'd wanted a dessert and another drink, but decided against it because we couldn't get the server to pay attention to us. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Either add staff or pay attention to customers. Sigh.

I was very disappointed , I ordered 2 Chile rellenos , I come here often , I a true local . The rellenos had canned peppers . It was loaded with onions , big chunks but hardly any peppers. My girl friend enjoyed her meal but she ordered something else .plus it got me sick to my stomach for 2 days . I will go back I will get something else MAYBE
We recently traveled to Pacific Grove and stayed for five days. While we were there, we ate at several restaurants and liked most of them. But the only one we went to more than once was Peppers Mexicali Cafe on Forest Ave.
With so many great dining choices available in town, you may ask: why Peppers? Well, we'll tell you why: Peppers has, BY FAR, the best Mexican food we have ever tasted. The food is very fresh and flavorful (the beef fajitas are out of this world!). The service we received from Ryan and Fiona was excellent, as they were both very attentive and friendly. It was also evident that a lot of people feel the same as us since the restaurant and bar were always full of diners and people waiting for tables.
Over the years, we have always planned most of our vacations in coastal California towns (Coronado, La Jolla, Laguna Beach, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and now Pacific Grove). And in each of these towns, we have always found a favorite restaurant that we make sure we dine at whenever we're there. In Pacific Grove, that restaurant is Peppers Mexicali Cafe.

Been coming to this place for over 20 years and I still have not found a better Mexican restaurant. Fabulous food, great portions, friendly staff, and good prices. The blood orange margaritas are on point!!

More varied menu then most Mexican restaurants. Good seafood options. Food quality, taste and quantity all excellent. Ambience is family friendly, lively, with friendly and professional wait staff.

Peppers Mexicali Cafe has been a popular locals spot for many years in the small ocean community of Pacific Grove. The restaurant offers guests some unique Mexicali inspired dishes. The customer service is usually very friendly and I have enjoyed various dishes. The restaurant is small and can be fairly crowded but the food is usially very good and Peppers is usually consistent with their food quality. Parking in Pacific Grove can be difficult but I usually find something on the side. Definetly a nice spot that is worth checking out.
