We love this restaurant. Staff is friendly and professional, ambiance is great, good reasonably priced wine list, and AmAzINg seasonal creative food.
Amazing service by Avery! Professional and so friendly! We absolutely love the soup with butternut squash and pear! The scallops were big and so tasty perfectly cooked with Chanterelle mushrooms. The chocolate pot de crème was not too sugary and the chocolate was delicious! We enjoyed the Roederer Estate sparking wine .. wonderful! A dinner to remember🥂🥂 Do not miss this place ... A GEM 🙏❤️
The rating would probably have been higher, but for the following. We has an 8 pm reservation, and at 7:58, the host called to ask whether we were still planning to come. As I was parking, I did not answer the phone. Once we got there, she made it clear that she was not happy that our reservation was so late (by her standards, apparently, but the restaurant had taken the 8 pm reservation). The servers were all super friendly and easy going, and the food was excellent, but the ufriendly greeting and attitude definitely marred the experience.
We arrived early for our reservation and they were able to accommodate us. Server was knowledgeable about specials, menu items and wines. Relaxing dinner, would return.
Positives: Service was outstanding--I wish I could remember her name. The wine that was recommended was perfect. Duck liver pate and breast were delicious. Negatives: Lack of ambience, a battery candle instead of a tealight. They should use tablecloths or at least a nice placemat. Our welcome, or lack thereof, was not even a smile forthcoming. Romaine salad was just ok, over-dressed in our opinion. I would suggest opening a bit earlier for a happy hour, as the appetizers are delicious and could add a little life to the space. I would go back for this.
The food & service were wonderful. Matte to was a great waiter. The Duck was out of this world.
The duck pate and seared duck breast were fantastic. We would definitely eat here again as the food, service, ambience, etc. were outstanding.
Late getting this out but this was our return visit to Spotted Duck. Outstanding, creative, French-inspired cuisine in the 'restaurant row' of Pacific Grove. Easy parking and great service. One of our favs in the area; we come down to Monterey regularly and this is a "must eat here every time" restaurant. GO!
Well prepared and imaginative cuisine that is reasonably priced. The chef has used local products and has a way with mushrooms and deep flavors. Our server, Avery was not only a delight, but one of the most all around servers we have encountered. She was very knowledgeable about the restaurants' offerings, but also attentive and engaging.A great asset in promoting a wonderful food experience.
Exceptional food: duck liver paté, chopped romaine salad, an imaginative special of spaghetti with a lobster and scallop bolognese, and another entrée of rock cod. Service was perfect, and it was a quiet and attractive space as well.

Excellent food! It was the best fine dining experience we have had in the Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove area. The ambience is somewhat nondescript, but the food makes up for it. We ordered the chardonnay steamed mussels for a shared appetizer, followed by two entrées: the sautéed rock cod and caramelized sea scallops. All dishes were equally delicious and perfectly prepared and presented. Our server was very friendly and our food came out quickly, but was clearly cooked to order. We were too stuffed to order a dessert, but since we are certainly returning, we will do that next time.
Excellent! Never fails! Thank you this time and every time for a superlative dining experience.
We loved everything about Spotted Duck. Highly recommend to everyone. We will eat there the next time we're in the area.
Our first time there, we were seated immediately. Our server Avery was so friendly and helpful and clearly proud of the restaurant. After ordering some wine, we checked the menu and consulted with Avery about the various choices. I think there was something for everyone. I ordered the steak and my husband ordered the evening special, the pork chop. He devoured the entire dinner, leaving only the bone. Mine was equally delicious, and I brought some home. We each ordered a nice glass of red wine. I had the 4 Vines, delicious! We were too full for dessert but the list looked very nice! We'd definitely go back!
We hadn't been for a while - so glad we went back! Everything was spot on, including the service. What we loved: PG Spot cocktail, Grilled Ad Astra bread, Brussels spouts, Sautéed rock cod, Smoked pork chop special.
