California Pizza Kitchen at The Shops on El Paseo

I normally love CPKs but this place was ridiculous…asked for simple accommodations for our orders: a little extra sauce because their pasta, salad AND pizza was very dry and was told by the manager Jenna they can not GIVE OUT EXTRA SAUCE because they weight their sauces every night…hard to believe this. Poor location bad customer service.

I’m extremely disappointed with the take-out service and, more importantly, the complete lack of follow-up from management.
I drove 35 minutes out of my way to pick up a take-out order. Before leaving, I specifically asked the staff member at the counter to confirm that everything I ordered was in the bag. She said yes. I left with what I was told were four entrées and one drink.
After driving 35 minutes back to the guest house we’re staying at, I discovered my daughter’s hamburger was missing. This is especially frustrating because the order was very simple: two salads, one pizza, and one hamburger. How do you not double-check an order that small before handing it off—especially after explicitly saying you did?
What made this worse was the lack of accountability afterward. I had to follow up twice just to ask to speak with a manager, and I never heard back. The only response I received from the young staff girl was a casual apology and an offer to refund the burger. Meanwhile, my daughter didn’t have dinner, and I had to pay extra to order Uber Eats from another restaurant just so she could have dinner. We were all starving and had to deal with their mistake. Mind you, I was on hold for 10 mins and finally the girl came back on phone to say they will call me back... they never did.
The worst part was the audacity to ask if I wanted a credit to use for another time. Absolutely not. Why would I return after this experience? I’m now forced to file a dispute with my credit card company to recover the money since management never called me back to refund my money.
Mistakes happen, but poor follow-up, no management response, and zero effort to make things right are unacceptable. I would not recommend ordering take-out from here.

If you plan to order take-out here, do not rely on staff when they say your order has been checked. Open the bag and verify everything yourself before leaving.

I'm so disappointed our chicken tequila fettuccine was cold and not cooked all the way. It was dry and barely had any chicken. I also requested butter for my bread the hostess said it was inside my bag when I got home it wasn't there. I do not recommend.

UPDATE: After my last review someone from CPK reached out and wanted to make things right. She sent us some more gift cards so we could try their food again. Well, today we tried their food and it was actually really good! We got the margarita pizza, cheese pizza, a shrimp dish and charcuterie salad. All of it was great! No complaints here. Thank you so much for the gift cards and we will be back there again☺️

We received a gift card from a friend and thank goodness we didn't have to pay out of our own pocket because the food was not good. It was salty and dry and just meh. For the prices you'd think the food would be bomb but it wasn't good at all. Needless to say I have no desire to go back

Got the takeout ordered on the CPK app which was excellent easy to use and at the back of the restaurant they have three parking zones for pickup orders with instructions and numbers and soon after I called they brought the food out to me service was excellent and friendly and the food was super delicious especially their new mac and cheese with pizza toppings

We come to this location often. This particular day my sisters, my mom, and I came. We got seated and waited about 15 minutes for our server to even come introduce himself, ask us if we wanted to get started with drinks or anything. Ismael is his name, he also had bad hygiene. They didn’t even bring us the complementary bread like how they did to everyone else. We felt very disrespected and discriminated. No one else got the horrible treatment we got. We also got a salad & the main big ingredient (burrata cheese) wasn’t even on it, I think they thought we weren’t gonna notice. It was over all a really bad experience, nothing like that had ever happened to us there. Very bad service.

Their portions are laughable and insulting. You could actually eat a satisfying meal here before but now their adult portions have turned into children's portions and of course they keep raising the prices. Shame on you, CPK.
