The food quality and quantity have improved significantly this past year or so. I tried this particular Castañeda's about half a dozen times 5, 6 and 7 years ago and it was just not worth coming back, very much less than even average. I decided to give it another try about a year ago (I live next door in Sun City) and was more than pleasantly surprised. I wanted to try it several more times before I committed to writing a review and I'm happy to say the last three dinners were equally good. Just keep in mind it is not gourmet but when I go looking for Mexican food, I want it simple, piled high, and swimming in salsa (enchiladas mojadas). Just wish they had mole. The young women at the cash register have always been pleasant. There are not many options in this neighborhood so I'm happy to see Castañeda's back in the game.

The employee, Max B, is either a crook or a racist. I ordered a combination #5. ALL combinations come with a medium drink. This idiot tried to tell me that THE MENU was wrong. I called him out on it. His response was, I will give it to you this time. There were some other Mexican folks eating in the restaurant. I asked them if they had to pay extra for their drinks. They said no. The drink comes with the combinations. How many seniors has this thief stile from??

This is the absolute worst Mexican food you could possibly get . Total bottom of the barrel, I’ve eaten at Castaneda’s about a half a dozen times and that’s only because they’re open 24 hours a day. This last time will be the very last time. You have to have absolutely zero morals to serve such “carne asada” how can anyone serve such low quality meat where it basically tastes like unchewable tasteless wet cardboard? I don’t normally leave reviews but I just had to on this last visit, I just want to spare someone else to experience this absolute garbage. I took the leftovers and my dog would not even touch it.
They charge $12.82 for the worst burrito on the planet. Shame on you Castaneda. Shame on you.
Never again
Martha is Always so nice and their food is delicious!

Just left here and we got take-out. We ordered a ton of chips and salsas from the bar and we got the San Felipe fries. Everything was SO GOOD! Greasy for sure but that's exactly what we wanted. The people working here were super friendly. We have never been here before and had a few questions and the gal helping us was super sweet. 10 out of 10 food and service! Thanks guys we had an awful day today and needed the smiling faces!!

Was driving back to California from Phoenix and looking for a quick bite that was close to the interstate. Googled Mexican restaurants then googled ‘handmade tortillas’ and this place came up. Handmade tortillas are a must. Called about 15 mins ahead and they said my order would be ready in about 10 mins. Showed up and to my delight was a fresh salsa bar. I had a bean rice and cheese burrito that weighed about 5 pounds haha and 2 carne asada tacos. Definitely didn’t need either of the tacos(only ate one bc they were so large) . Loaded up on obligatory salsas and carrots, onions and jalapeños and hit the road. Salsas were effin awesome and the star of the show. Carne asada tacos were tasty and would order again but the meat could’ve been seasoned just a little more. Burrito was all I want in a bean rice and cheese burrito. Ended up tossing not eating the second of my tacos and definitely didn’t need the tacos. I will definitely be going back. Staff was attentive and friendly.

Ordered two carne asada fries. Both of them had burnt and very hard meat, cheese was also hard and had a bitter taste. We were also the only customers at the time as there was no lines for drive through or people inside.
