So fun The shrimp throwing was very entertaining. i have shrimp allergy and the staff was so careful. The exhausts are great so you don't end up smelling like Korean bbq. The good was great

Great service. We dined here as a family as guests of the JW Marriott. The location was fun for our little kids who explored the gardens and enjoyed the lights after dark. The staff was friendly and more than accommodating when I asked them to find something that accidentally got thrown away (due to my mistake). The chef at our table was full of jokes and kept us entertained. The food portions were big!Nothing over the top about the food, classic teppanyaki but lots of fun, entertainment, and friendly and helpful staff.

The restaurant is just Gorgeous inside and out. Walk around before and after you dine. One of our favorite places! Fun ambiance. Terrific food

Great for celebrations, a date, or for great food and ambiance. Been there more than once. Will keep coming back.

I can't say enough about our chef, whose name I unfortunately don't recall, whose combination of hibachi skills, sense of humor and personality made for a truly outstanding evening. All of our entrées were prepared perfectly and so good!

We were in a mood for sushi, so we went to Mikado at 545pm before an event. They were closed, although it shows open on Google.

I'm a longtime Gold Elite member and typically at a J.W. you'd expect accolades...don't. This review could have been about the charming ambiance, beautiful water gardens, entertaining Chef's or "on par with most" Teppanyaki meal - but instead this review is just about the disappointing experience I had and the bitter taste left in my mouth because The Marriott didn't listen and chose not to care. This was a special evening - a gathering of family that hadn't seen each other in a decade and the Marriott blew it. I had called AND written well in advance to explain about our occasion and my expectations to ensure that all went smoothly - and re-iterated upon arrival with the hostess to please sit us appropriately, and they did not. My husband and I sat isolated between the two grills unable to easily engage in conversation with other members of our group and basically looked at the backs of both Chef's as they prepared the meals - it felt like being relegated to the children's table. At one point our group had 5 empty appetizer bowls and 6 side plates crowding our dining area as the Chef started to serve the main meal and I literally had to stand up and bus those dirty dishes off the table and over to a side table behind us to make room. They should have offered us the choice to just purchase the 3 extra seats at our table - I paid over $1,000 for the dinner and would have happily paid the extra minimum ($32 x 3) to do so... as a result I didn't enjoy dinner and upset my husband because he could see my disappointment and had to tolerate my hushed complaining. From our vantage, our 4 guests seemed to have had a nice time and enjoyed the show and meal. We weren't involved in most of the conversation because we were pretty much seated at a different table and couldn't easily hear what was being said. I'm glad our guests had a nice evening - I 'm just having a bit of a hissy that as Hosts, we did not. What's done is done - you got us here once Marriott but you won't get us again... being a J.W. I expected more. P.S. Not sure it's necessary to automatic add a gratuity for a party of 6 when you cram 10 people around 1 table with 1 Chef and 1 server - we weren't special...in this case, not at all special.

This was a great experience. The food was amazing! We made reservations for our two year wedding anniversary. We ordered drinks, the refresher and a raspberry mule. For an appetizer we ordered shrimp tempura. For our meals filet mignon and lobster with soup and fried rice. Everything was cooked well. They brought us cheesecake to celebrate for our anniversary. The ambiance was on point and the service was great!

Always a fun time at any restaurant like this. Entertaining and delicious. Our Chef was personable and very skilled. So happy a friend recommended Mikado's to us during our visit to Palm Desert.

It's a teppenyaki place, you come for the entertainment! It was pricier than other teppenyaki style restaurants I've been to, but it's located on the JW Marriott property so it was to be expected. We were seated with great people and the chef did a great job of cooking our meal and entertaining. Service was great. The servers were attentive and very nice and patient.

Love Mikado and have been going there for decades. Our bill for 2 adults and 2 kids was $400 including tip. Happy to pay for a special occasion, but did seem a little pricey. Overall, I'd still go back for sure. The food was fantastic!

We enjoyed our experience as a couple. The balance of the table was a family enjoying a birthday celebration so there was little of the rapport at the table we usually experience. That, of course, is not the establishment's fault.

We had a wonderful Valentines day. The food as always was amazing. We had a very special surprise when the the head chef sung to us.....Not once but twice. Made the night very special and wow can he sing....

It's not Benihana. The filet mignon was the best thing. The wait was the worst thing. It's was one hour from the time of our reservation to the time we had the first bite of food. The ride up from the hotel on the boat was amazing. The prices vs. the level of service was not worth it.

This was my first time, it was so much better than I thought. The food was really good, and the cook was amazing. He kept everyone entertained and did really good working with food allergies.
