We decided to go somewhere by ourselves to celebrate our anniversary that e both would enjoy. We selected Ruth's Chris Steak House in Palm Desert. It was the perfect choice. Although we arrived a few minutes early, we were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" from the staff and told it would only be a couple minutes to be seated and it was only 1 minute. From the the time our waiter introduced himself throughout our meal, everything was great. Having a food service background makes me a bit "picky" when it comes to service and the overall dining experience. Without a doubt, there was nothing to bee picky about!!! Our meal from start to finish was absolutely great. We thank the management for operating such a great establishment that made our celebration exactly what we looked forward to.

Fantastic night. Truly exceeded our expectations. Our server Amber really made it an exceptional experience. She was upbeat and fun and so knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations for us. She timed our courses perfectly and we finished with plenty of time to make it to our concert. All our food was top notch and the whole team was wonderful. The gm Darrell even stopped by the table and chatted with us for a while. We really enjoyed his company. Can't wait to return! Thanks Ruth's Chris Palm Desert. You Rock!

I will start by saying you were out of anchovies this evening and it was very upsetting because we love your Caesar salad with anchovies. We did drive an hour one way just to get there for that salad so that was a huge disappointment for our entire party. On the plus side, we ended up with an excellent waitress name, Melanie. She was fun, courteous and explained the menu to us in depth. If we ever come back, we will definitely be requesting her section. Melanie was a lot of fun and made our birthday dinner experience exceptional. Now back to the anchovies... You owe me double anchovies next time I come in.

Service was very poor. Food was good but we waited 25 minute between dinner and desert. Table was not cleared for at least 30 minutes after we were done eating.

Exquisite evening. Devon was wonderful. The salmon/scallop dish was scrumptious. It was our anniversary and my husband's birthday and you all remembered that! Thanks, Rosemary

This was not a typical Ruth's Chris experience. Once seated, it took 13 minutes before greeted by a server. I actually had to approach the hostess about the matter. The server eventually came & didn't apologize. I was also surprised that our table wasn't decorated in celebration of our anniversary. My broccoli wasn't hot & I was also taken aback by that but I refused to mention it to the server.

Service was awful. Server was condescending and rude. We felt forgotten most of the time there.

I usually don’t write reviews, but after tonight’s Experience I had to write one. We had made a reservation for 11 people, and when we walked In with our party, our server Cynthia right away, gave us a dirty look since we had a baby with us. She was annoyed that The toy that Ruth Chris provided for the baby had fallen to the floor. Once our whole party arrives, two people switched spaces and she came to the table and lectured us about how position numbers worked in a restaurant. Then we ordered wine And without saying a word stared us down and expected us to move all the plates out of the way. She asked to remove the wine glasses, and when she came to the glass in front of my fiancé, she Made a swatting gesture towards her face, making her move. Once that happened, I immediately called the manager Priscilla over and she was very dismissive. She said that we were in the wrong for not Handing the glasses to the server And she didn’t even apologize for the server making a swatting motion. After that conversation, we immediately left, but there was one server Samantha, that was Great. Samantha was constantly checking in on us more than our own server and she tried to make things right while the server Cynthia hide like Coward. Overall, this experience was terrible. I thought I would never be treated like this in a restaurant that cost about $80 a plate. Because of this experience, I will never return to Ruth’s Chris and I will no longer be holding any business meetings at Ruth’s chris. If management is reading This Cynthia needs to be fired immediately.

I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but our experience at Ruth’s Chris was shockingly bad from start to finish — and I feel obligated to warn others.

The service was not just slow or inattentive, it was outright disrespectful. Our server, Cynthia, was rude from the moment she greeted us. She made sarcastic gestures when we simply didn’t hand her a glass, and afterwards made a swatting motion with her hand because we didn’t know she wanted us to pass it to her.

Things got worse when we asked to speak with a manager. Pricella, who introduced herself as the manager on duty, was just as dismissive. Rather than listening or attempting to resolve the issue, she acted like we were the problem. No apology, no accountability — just condescension and attitude.

To be clear: we weren’t being unreasonable. We were calm and respectful, but the way we were treated felt belittling and completely unprofessional. It’s one thing to have a bad meal — it’s another to be treated like your concerns don’t matter at all.

Bottom line: This place needs a serious overhaul in both staff training and customer service culture. We left feeling disrespected, unheard, and frustrated. I would not recommend Ruth’s Chris to anyone.

I’ve dined in top restaurants across the world, and I also run a restaurant myself — so I know what proper service and food quality should look like. This location failed on both counts.

The evening began with the hostess aggressively demanding I remove my hat in a rude and unprofessional manner. There are ways to enforce a dress code respectfully; this was not one of them.

The real problem, however, was the food. Every dish we ordered was absolutely drenched in butter — even the grilled sea bass. When I specifically asked for one without butter, the chef literally scraped it off and sent the same plate back. After refusing it, I was told a new one would be made “on the house,” but again it arrived swimming in butter. Any competent steakhouse should know how to prepare a clean, simply grilled fish or steak without relying on cheap butter to cover up flavor.

We ended up eating just two chicken dishes and drinking sparkling water. For that, the check was $340. Outrageous.

This experience felt more like a tourist trap than a respected steakhouse. If you value quality food, professional service, and honesty, look elsewhere.

As someone who has traveled extensively and dined at Michelin-rated restaurants around the world—and who also owns a restaurant myself—I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in years.

From the moment we walked in, the tone was set. The hostess very rudely told me to remove my hat in a way that was unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful. I’ve never been spoken to like that at any fine dining establishment.

The service overall was passable, but the food was a disaster. Every single dish was drowned in butter—steak, fish, everything. I specifically requested a grilled sea bass without butter, and what came back was the exact same plate with the butter scraped off. When I sent it back again, the kitchen returned another “on the house” version—again soaked in butter. At that point, I refused to eat it. As a professional in the industry, I can tell you this is not cooking—it’s laziness and disregard for the health and requests of the guest. A quality steakhouse should know how to prepare clean, simply grilled proteins without hiding behind 40% butter.

In the end, we ate two chicken dishes and had sparkling water. The bill? $340. For essentially nothing. That’s not just overpriced—it’s a scam.

If you care about food quality, respect, or professionalism, avoid this location. Palm Desert has plenty of restaurants that value their customers and their craft. This is not one of them.

Steak was too fatty this time. Waitress Melanie and Angel were great. Enjoyed French onion soup for the first time.
