Sweet Basil California Eatery

It’s a little gem right in the heart of el paseo in palm desert. We really enjoyed our meals and we even got a protein side for our dog, Duke. We started out by sharing the eggplant cigars made from eggplant, goat cheese, sausage and tomato basil sauce. Light enough for a small appetizer and full of flavor. I had the pork sandwich. It was very tasty. My wife had the beet and quinoa salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. And duke and I shared a small flat iron steak as a side protein. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and was very tender. We really liked the fact Duke was welcomed by the staff as we sat on the outdoor street-side patio. The food quality was excellent, the service was outstanding, the atmosphere was just what we were looking for after hiking all morning, not too fancy, but also not a place where you’d expect to see tank tops and flip flops…although they would probably not turn anyone away. They are just so nice. We will definitely go back.

We went for the first time last night to celebrate a special anniversary and had one of the best meals we have had in the Coachella Valley. In addition to fantastic food, the service was outstanding. Sally and the staff at Sweet Basil made our dining experience very memorable. We enjoyed their special of the day starter (fig, olives and pistachio bruschetta on naan bread), mushroom pasta and a Flat Iron Steak. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal out.

Their chicken parm was DELICIOUS I highly recommend it! Really great service as well.

My wife and I stopped by and had dessert and coffee and it was incredible! We had the bread pudding and homemade donuts and both were amazing. The vibe inside is very cool and the owners provided excellent service. 5 stars!

Amazing food from lobster cakes to homemade donuts, Martin and Sally put it all together perfectly.
Will miss them this summer but look forward to their return in September with their new culinary ideas.

Wow. Whata fantistic little restaurant! Great menu. Ordered the shrimp and grits and was so flavorful. Also the Sallys pasta was phenomenal. Fresh ingredients and delightful owners. Bread pudding for dessert capped off the night perfectly. Ate outside and started at the beautiful mountains.

A real good restaurant with real good food! The dishes are researched, creative and taste delicious. The owner Sally works there. This is a totally different vibe and quality to most corporatized restaurants out there. I’ll be back!
