I saw Wilma & Frieda's on an episode of Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives...so I had to try it while I was in town. Watching the process of how W&F makes their housemade short ribs made my mouth water, and me want to take the 2 hour drive from San Diego... $21 Short Rib Melt Sandwich...Here it was! The short rib sandwich I saw on TV was now in my hands...and it was good. Just good. Not great. The flavors were good, the short rib was flavorful and tasty, but I wish there was more of it. Came with some nice crispy tots. $7 Blueberry Breakfast Tart...W&F's housemade "Pop Tart" pastry was a cute, whimsical, sweet, and lovely dessert pastry. Good food, not great, and bit pricy for the portion and quality. Maybe it was overhyped in my brain from the TV show...never meet your heroes?
We arrived as soon as they opened. The coffees were perfect. She had the Caramel French Toast. I had a Build My Own Scramble with the biscuit. Couldn't ask for better.
Highly recommend. Two locations. Both great. We enjoyed the food and service. We have been here a few times and will be back of course.
We visited Wilma & Frieda's the first morning we were in Palm Springs. They did such a great job, we decided to try to eat our way through the menu and returned every morning of our stay. I make my own homemade biscuits and am usually disappointed by biscuits in a restaurant, but theirs are outstanding! They are served with house made jam that really tops them off. Over the four days, we had the meat loaf and eggs, two different scrambles, JR's short rim and mozzarella scramble and a couple of other dishes that don't come to mind right now. They have outdoor seating or you can choose a nice intimate booth inside. Service was just great, as good as being in a fine dining restaurant. They're currently open for only breakfast and lunch, but anything on the menu is delicious!
We were in Palm Springs for 5 days and had breakfast here every day…..the food was so delicious and there were so many items on the menu that sounded so good, we wanted to try as many as possible. We loved it every day!!! My favorite was the grilled meatloaf and eggs….but everything we had was just perfect. And don’t miss out on the biscuits…..the best I’ve had outside of the south…. And if you want a little something to go, check out the house made pop tarts!! The service was consistently excellent from the wait staff to the people who poured water…..can’t say enough great things about this restaurant…..
I thought the place was haphazard and uncomfortable. Very unattractive in decor, a sparse diner vibe. Prices high for mediocre food. Found out later that they have a C rating from Riverside County health dept ???
We came in for breakfast. The restaurant is on the second floor with a small patio that overlooks the street. Misters galore so it’s very comfortable. I had the “Meany” with the potatoes and it was delicious. My husband had the meatloaf with eggs and biscuit…which he states is one of the best breakfasts he’s ever eaten! Try it out! We will be back.
We read about and visited last year. On my list to return this year. Did not disappoint! Biscuits and gravy, omelette with chicken sausage, tomatoes and goat cheese. Mimosas. One of our favorite places in PS!
Delicious food. Had the roast beef and onion melt. Beef was moist and tender. Serving was generous. Will be back!
Wilma & Frieda's does a brilliant job end to end. The staff are unfailingly cheerful and courteous. (In order words they laugh at my lame jokes,) The food choices are huge and I am methodically working my way thru them. Shout out to the French toast choices. The Americanos are strong as they should be. So all in all a great five-star place to have breakfast. Bravo!

The breakfast here was fabulous. There were so many unique choices on the menu it was hard to decide on just one. My husband and I chose the blackberry custard french toast and chicken sausage and goat cheese omelet. Go for the house potatoes with your omelet. Both were delicious! We sat outside and enjoyed a view overlooking downtown.
FIrst off, the staff is great and they care about your experience. My wife had an excellent scramble, but my zucchini spirals and eggs were simply a salty overcomplicated mess. Fortunately, my server took the meal back, but then delivered to me what I will term "you pissed off the chef eggs". Stick to the basics here and you will be very happy.
Loved the one in Palm Desert, so when they opened quite awhile ago in Palm Springs we were excited. Have been a few times, but not for a long time, so we popped-in today for lunch...what a disappointment! Shared a chicken salad sandwich - YUCK! A thin spread of chicken salad on a dry, stale croissant, served with a cup of hard, not sweet fruit for $20. I've had better, fresher sandwiches out of a vending machine. #facts And our "server" was wholly absent. My wife and I each went to find him at different times just to get more ice water or iced tea. Maybe W & F think they can slide thru on their laurels, but for us, they have none to rest on. Fix it, folks!
Our server, Kristin, made great food into a fantastic experience. We will be going for breakfast again in the morning for our 3rd time this PS visit! Beyond exceptional biscuits and the Christmas enchiladas are otherworldly good! Do not miss out!
I loved this place. We were seated on a "private" Juliet-style balcony overlooking Palm Canyon Drive. Perfect for watching the world go by and gazing at the beautiful sunny sky, palm trees, and Spanish tile rooftops. (The balcony is for a table of four; there are two such balconies.) There is also more outdoor seating on a covered wraparound patio, and there is plenty of indoor seating. The Benny's traditional Benedict was outstanding. While I can't remember what everyone else ate, they all enjoyed their meals. The server was attentive and friendly. Get there by 9 am on weekends to avoid a wait. We got there at 930 and had a twenty-minute wait for outdoor seating; although this wasn't too exasperating since we were able to browse a nearby shop. If I return to Palm Springs, this will be on the itinerary.
