Bistro Elan is a member of that most elusive club of always sought after seldom found neighborhood gems where the food is exquisite, the service excellent, the dining room tiny — though there are a few more tables outside— and the clientele quiet well dressed locals who have eaten there for years, never having been disappointed. The menu that changes with the seasons is always surprising but never overdone. The food is interesting but above all delicious and the portions are generous. Reservations very much recommended.

Bistro Elan is always delightful. It's our date night spot! The food is consistently excellent, beautifully presented, and perfectly prepared. We love our server — always the same gentleman. He knows us, remembers our daughter's name and asks about her. It's just a lovely, comfortable, delicious experience, every time.

We love it here. Excellent small restaurant with a very attentive staff. The perfect place to be a regular.

Love this delightful little bistro, which transported us from the cares and chaos of today's world. The food is excellent, with the seafood in particular prepared deftly, as is the service. Most everything is made in house including the delightful almond cake, which is not to be missed.

We needed a nice meal and this was it. We started with very good oysters and champagne, then split a great arugula salad with artichoke. The scallops were suberb (also split), and then split a skirt steak with morels and a side of fries. Magnificent. The strawberry rhubarb compote with ice cream topped everything off. Background music was excellent -- modern covers of brazilian bossa nova and french songs that made us (and others) reach for Shaazam.

Wonderful ambiance, good tasty food, but very expensive for what is served. I wish my server had been more attentive to me and my other woman guest (like asking if we would like another glass of wine)

Absolutely great food here. Nice wine list as well. Solid staff. Great go to for a business meal or a romantic evening. Or by yourself when the Wednesday special looks so good you've got to have it!

I see why they charge a 20 % gratuity. If I would have had to leave a tip based on service, it would have been a 4% tip. Waiter seemed upset that my wife and I were going to share an entree and salad as we always do. After we were served our meal, we never saw our waiter again. We had to ask the busboy to get our check. We will not be going back anytime soon.

Eat outside if you can -- we were seated in the back, where things were a little claustrophobic. The service was good but not great, but heads-up: you are going to be paying a 20% tip whether you want to or not, no matter the quality of your waiter!

We had an outstanding dinner at Bistro Elan: great presentation, exciting pairings of sauce and protein (scallops and mustard sauce was unusual but highly successful), and fun and capable service.

I do love this little place and recommend it. However, I was not thrilled with our smoked salmon on a waffle appetizer as it lacked flavor somehow, it was definitely under salted and bland, as was my fish dish which I think was cod (can't remember). Salting improved it. However, my spouse's beef dish was excellent with very good depth of flavor and I regretted not getting that, and I tasted my friend's mussel pasta dish and it was very nicely seasoned as well. So there were very good dishes and somewhat bland ones. Still worth a visit for high quality made from scratch food, which is important to me.

I love this restaurant. It's small, charming, food is always excellent and service is wonderful. It's lovely to sit outside on a warm evening. The menu is just the right size....not too small and not too large. And you can count on every dish being excellent.

Excellent dinner! One member of our party had special dietary requirements and the chef and server were outstanding attending to those needs. We had a great time and all of the dishes were beautifully prepared.

There's a secret hotdog counter here on Sundays during the Farmer's Market. 1940s vibes, really tasty dog on an Acme bun with grilled whole peppers, onions, and sauerkraut.
