Very close to a real Italian bar (if you choose not to notice people on their laptops:) great coffee, plenty of sitting outside, and no take away coffee! (which for me is a plus)

This place is perfect for hot chocolate lovers, rich and well-balanced, not too sweet or too mild. They also offer a nice selection of savory items and a variety of coffee options, which is a great bonus. Whenever I’m in Palo Alto and craving a great cup of coffee, this is my go-to spot!

My go to spot for coffee and light snacks. Hard to beat the warmth, quality and location.

A cafe which is open till late evening, what more do you want! The signature hot chocolate and cinnamon flavoured hot chocolate were delicious. Will try another options next time. However did not have a good experience interacting with the servers.

Pretty good, very thick.
The whipped cream costed extra unnecessarily but overall cost was still manageable.

Very disappointing experience at Caffe Venetia, Palo Alto. I simply asked for one extra spoon, and the staff flat-out refused. Not because they were out of spoons, not because of any hygiene policy — just refused.
For a cafe that charges premium prices, this level of rigidity and poor customer service is unacceptable. Small requests like an extra spoon are basic hospitality, especially when you’re paying for drinks and desserts that clearly require them.
The attitude felt unwelcoming and dismissive, which completely ruined the experience. There are plenty of cafes in Palo Alto that understand customer service and treat guests with basic courtesy — unfortunately, this isn’t one of them.
Won’t be returning

Drinks very Italian in spirit. Nice coffee bar to drink at, even though most people sit down

The best hot chocolate I have ever had. Coffee is also great. The only downside is you can’t get anything to go.

This has been my go-to meeting spot in Palo Alto. It really feels like a little slice of Italy — from the coffee to the chocolates to the charming setting.
Perfect for a sunny afternoon catch-up with friends, a casual business meeting, or even a sweet first date.
Perfect for: when you want European café vibes without leaving Palo Alto.

Denied entry solely because staff demanded a “service dog certificate.” This requirement does not exist under the ADA or California law. Businesses may ask only whether the dog is required due to a disability and what task it performs. No paperwork may be demanded. The staff appeared confident and snobbish and did not respond to my request to show me a law requiring a certificate.
I have visited this cafe before. The coffee was fine but nothing special, but the food was always mediocre.
