Oh, I absolutely love this place! My mother-in-law, who also spoke French fluently, first introduced me to it—and ever since, it’s been my top choice whenever I want something truly special and delicious.
The atmosphere is so relaxing, with gentle background music that adds just the right touch. The café is always spotless, and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive.
There’s comfortable seating both indoors and outdoors, including covered areas—so even on a rainy day, it’s a perfect spot to unwind.
They serve wonderfully fresh pancakes and salads, a wide variety of pastries, and an incredible selection of sweets. Whether you’re in the mood for a small treat to pair with a freshly brewed tea or coffee, or a full dessert indulgence, everything tastes like a little “cherry on top” experience!
The café is also very accessible—there’s plenty of space for families with children and guests in wheelchairs, with several seating options available.
It’s often busy, which speaks volumes about how many people love dining here. The Art Deco–inspired décor adds a charming touch, and the overall presentation and cleanliness are always impressive.
I wholeheartedly recommend this café—it truly feels like a cozy oasis in the middle of the bustling Town and Square plaza!

Completely racist staff and owner. Ignored me and made me wait for over 5 minutes with no acknowledgment and then rushed over to help other races of lighter skin. Mid coffee at best too with flies in the pastry cabinet. Get your standards up if you want to do business in Palo Alto and respect your customers.

Great vibes. I had the misto sandwich and it was delicious, and the guy who took my order and prepared my coffee was so friendly, respectful and nice! The coffee was also great, and they have tables outside and inside. Highly recommend.

I did also get the apple type tart but would pass on that next time.

I have been coming to douce France for many many years. Always enjoyed. Unfortunately for the last several months I have been served only stale pastries. Once, twice, three times... fine, but pretty much that the only thing they serve now. Really disappointed. I need to find another place where to go now :(

I'm a first timer, it's popular so it gets crowded quick. I sat outside and people backed into the parking space which was about 6 ft or less from my table,and that made me really nervous. Food and service was great, I'll just wait on a better place to sit.

Benedict was overcooked, didn't stick out (a gross mistake and this dish can no longer be called Benedict). Avocado toast was not brought to taste. Orange fresh is excellent, it is difficult to spoil it🤭. overall, nothing caught my attention, you can drop in before work and even then the prices are high for every day expensive.
