Going in with little knowledge on this restaurant, we had a great culinary experience. Food was innovative and freshly prepared and service (Mariah) on point. The small plates menu, as explained by our server, allowed us to sample many different dishes. We sampled the Oysters, Warm Sesame Pancakes, Salad, Crudo, Yellowfin Tuna over rice and Pork Belly and Octopus. Most "mindblowing" were the Oysters topped with Meyer Lemon Foam.
Brought my 11 year old daughter, who wants to be a chef, to town for the fist time. We poured over menus prior to coming and she zeroed in on Ethel's. It's impossible to express how amazing our experience was from start to finish. Mickey the GM greeted us by name and took us to our reserved seats at the Chef's table. Presentation and flavors unique and tasty. Oyster froth unique, salad, halibut, octopus and swordfish, desserts delightful; not a bad dish. Wish salad would have been served by themselves as the table was full of plates but very nice servers. Wish hostess would remind you of your 2 hour table limit on check in as we would had been more aware of time as the manager that night did not ask us depart in the friendliest way. There are much better ways to ask someone to depart table....
