Very good food. The pasta here is awesome and they have so many good options. Parking is a little tough but there is a nearby lot.

Great place to dine. Pastas are made fresh everyday. Great Italian wine selection. They even have volcano cake. The staff is well knowledged in all aspects of the restaurant business. Please go visit I don't want to be the only one that had a great experience.

Il Fornaio has been a family favorite for decades. When they first had a bakery on Union Street in San Francisco, I frequented it to get the Fishermen Scones, exquisite… full of Sicilian candied lemon, orange and citron and wild fennel seeds. My 87 year old mother and I went in memory of my dad… as Il Fornaio was a regular dining spot. The food is excellent. We each had a shiitake mushroom ravioli with chard and a light butter sauce. The service was consistent, and yet they sat us near other diners when it was relatively quiet. Also, they were playing disco funk music. Great to dance to, and not fitting for lunch dining. Hence 4 stars. ⭐️

Everything from apps to dessert was spot on perfect. Excellent Italian cuisine … with aromas of their wood burning grill hitting you as soon as you enter.

This place is an institution in the Bay Area and it never disappoints. Great food, service and location. Thank you for always bringing the best of Italian cuisine and service to your customers.

Shout out to our server last night! Unfortunately I did not catch her name, but if you have a way of finding out who she was please thank her for us. She did a really great job with our table, and she even found a way to have them make us a grilled chicken breast instead of chicken tenders for our very picky toddler, which we really appreciated. The food was served promptly and was delicious, and we had a really great time.

Always love the service here! The only reason I didn't rate the food as a 5 this time, was that I couldn't really taste the Marsala in my chicken Marsala. But it was still delicious, and my wife loved it! The soup we each had a starter was also delicious, and the service is always great and the atmosphere/ambiance is wonderful!

What a mistake ... now I know why this restaurant was the only place that I could find with available reservations over Stanford Family weekend ... the food is absolutely terrible; overpriced, not particularly fresh and not well prepared. The menu boasts "fresh homemade pasta" - the Rigatoni Alla Vodka was served at room temperature, slightly congealed and it had a sour aftertaste. The calamari seemed to be frozen product, overfried and dry. My husband had the LINGUINE MARE CHIARO, my son had the SALMONE ALLA GRIGLIA and I had the GRIGLIATA DI PESCE MISTO. These dinners were also delivered room temperature, and all of the seafood was dry and overcooked. The wait staff could care less about actually serving the customers; our waiter seemed offended with us asking questions, he never came back to check on us and I went the entire dinner without my water or ice tea refilled; I finally asked for a refill just before the check because I was able to track down the waiter. What an absolute waste of $200

This was always a favorite when we lived/worked in the Bay Area. Recently due to a delayed/missed flight to Hawaii, we had to overnight at SFO. Booked a table and Ubered down. Food was good, but it's been better. Very disappointed in the over all level of service which used to be impeccable. I doubt we'll go back. Too bad.

The special menu was very good. I chose braised short ribs with spinach and mashed potatoes. My starter was a bowl of minestrone soup. The other diners had pasta selections. Everyone loved their dinners. The drinks were mixed well, and I had a 9 oz pour of a nice California Cab. We sat in the back of the restaurant, in a corner booth, which was very busy. It was a great evening.

We had a reservation for 7:45, we sat down at 7:40. A waiter came and grabbed our drink order + appetizers. We sat there for about 45 minutes before we even received water, bread, and our cocktails. Our food came out about 25 minutes later. We never received our appetizer, when we brought it up to our waitress, she just kind of laughed it off and said we have different options for you guys. We had empty water, and our cocktails were gone while eating our food. She never refilled our water nor asked if we needed anything else. She was very rude and rushed our experience. After we got done eating, she asked if we would like dessert and told us a stupid bird story about how mistakes will happen, but it's what you do after those mistakes that matter. We ate our dessert, the check came out, and nothing was taken off the check nor discounted for the terrible experience we had with her. The food was great, but the experience and staff were terrible. Her name was Karen, so if you end up getting sat in her section, please ask to be moved.

Food was good although a little over priced. Service was perfect. The meatballs were very tasty.
