This is my favorite Italian restaurant. The pizzas are thin crusted and taste like the one I had in Naples Italy. A special mention of the vegetable pizza, yummy and not loaded with sodium like many pizzas in the US. I have to watch my sodium intake and the pizzas at la Strada are the only one I can eat, you can taste the tomatoes, the basil, the vegetables and the delicious mozarella. My husband loves the chicken at "la diavola". The current manager is top notch and so is the service there. This is really one of my three favorite restaurants in the bay area (along with chef chus and evvia).

This place is ok. We came in for dinner and ordered the bruschetta, bolognese pasta, margarita pizza and seafood pasta. The bruschetta is not your traditional Italian dish it's Mediterranean style not what I expected however it was very good. My bolognese dish was outstanding the pasta, sauce and meat was tasty. I don't recommend the margarita pizza it wasn't that good they need to use better cheese.

Little gem in the Brazilian Iguasu. Their spaghetti with parmesan cheese is a treat for the eyes too!

Food, as usual, was amazing! Our appetizers and entrees were brought pretty quickly despite it being Valentine's Day. The only issue was that our server basically ignored us while other staff members took care of everything. They were great. We were just disappointed that our server never once came to the table between taking our order and then dropping off the check.

Absolutely delicious! It's hard to please an Italian farmer at a restaurant but my husband loved our lunch! Everything was fresh and well prepared. Nice wine selections as well. Service was fast but helpful.

Really disappointed with this place. I've been here aa few times hoping some dishes might be worth coming here for but after today I'm definitely not coming back. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and it truly was the worst I've ever had. And to think I paid 17$ for it makes me mad! Don't waste your money here. There's a reason why this place is always almost empty.

Two of us had the grilled eggplant parm and one of us had the walnut salad. Neither entree was good. The eggplant lacked soo much flavor, it wasn't even funny. I actually started to send it back because each one was $18 and the salad was around 11 or 12. Needless to say, I won't be going back here. We were far from impressed. Oh and the service was average. Nothing special.

Probably best Italian restaurant on the University ave. Owner is there quite often so the quality is always up to the top.

Everything prepared with a light touch, not your normal heavy-duty italian. Bread light and airy, did a gteat job of sopping up sauces. Meatballs light and full of flavorful. Lamb ragu was meaty, but again light. Parchment fish a little on the dry side. Deserts all light and creamy. Good selection of wines. Service was excellent, always around but not hovering.

I am ambivalent about writing a review only because when we arrived there were only a handful of people eating and we were the only ones sitting outside for our Friday night 7:45 PM reservation. We had only an hour to eat and the service was absolutely flawless, including the precision with which they handled the time constraints. Javier and his crew were gracious and the food was superb, moderately priced and the portions were plentiful enough that both my companion and I took home half of our entrees. For our appetizer we ordered the seared shrimp and scallops with barley, sweet peppers and green peas, and it was delicious. We quickly polished that off in rapid order. My companion order the eggplant parmigiana, which was quite flavorful and tender without being soggy. I ordered the meat lasagne with bechamel that melted in my mouth. We topped that off with a double decaf latte, a superb creme brulee and the La Strada special cannoli. The cannoli was the only mildly disappointing aspect of our meal as there was something foreign about the taste compared to any other cannoli I have tasted. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and I would recommend La Stada to anyone, provided that they keep it a secret so we can enjoy the uncrowded atmosphere, lol.

We had been to this restaurant several times before, but that was over a decade ago. I was extremely happy with our choice to return. The decor is warm and inviting, and the food was wonderful. My wife and I both had the petrale sole baked in parchment, with fregola pasta, tomato, fresh basil, black and green olives, and capers. These flavors were wonderfully blended together inside the parchment wrapping, which was skillfully and decoratively cut all around the top for eating, while preserving all of the rich juices and flavors close to the entree. We also had the hearts of romaine salad, which was fresh with a flavorful garlic-anchovy dressing (fortunately with only a hint of anchovy), and accompanied with shaved grana cheese and delicious baked crostini’s. The service was attentive, the beverage refills plentiful, and the whole experience delightful. We will return soon!

Amazing wood fired pizza, plus good drinks and a full Italian menu. Half price pizza for kids. Nice ambience. Good service. Under rated. Right on University Ave. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed!
