Our waiter was excellent, very professional, and the meals were amazing! Definitely, we would dine at this restaurant again, as well as recommend to others.
Nice place; food was good but not great. Our server was nice but she was slammed Sunday night.
We used this place for business lunch, and it was wonderful, nice foods and atmosphere for discussion.
We had originally requested outside for a party of 4, but because it was cool and windy, my husband requested that we move indoors. We sat inside for a few minutes, but because the noise level inside was so noisy, we decided to move to the outside and with the heat lamp, we were comfortable. We wanted to have a pasta course, split, and then have an entree, also split, to follow. Everything arrived at the same time and no split. The table for four is relatively small in size and it made it challenging to split things, so I took the squid ink pasta with shrimp and my husband took the rolled veal dish and we traded plates mid way through the meal. This was not ideal because the food was not hot by the time we switched. The quality of the food was excellent, as usual, but trying to be a good sport and not asking our waiter to take back the main course until we were ready for it, was a mistake.
We had a great anniversary dinner (with our adult children!). The team made us feel welcome and took extra time to chat and listen patiently to our stories. The food was great, as always. We truly enjoyed our dinner and will certainly return.
I was hopeful about this location as it had mixed reviews. Unfortunately the food is mediocre at best. I should have known when the male host sat us down and tossed the menus on the table. We started with their meatballs appetizer and they were small and tough. All of our meals were subpar. I ordered a dish with shrimp and the shrimp were so tiny I was skeptical to even eat them so didn't. The only reason we didn't send food back was our server was kind. I would skip this establishment - there are plenty of other great choices in Palo Alto.
Absolutely terrible the staff are absolutely disrespectful. The food is overpriced.
The pasta was okay. Maybe it was because I have high expectations before coming so I was a bit disappointed. There are not much protein in the pasta. And I still felt very hungry after eating a plate of pasta, two pieces of sourdough bread. (We even ordered a second plate of sourdough bread and it cost $4) and I drank a lot of water to feel less hungry. The server didn’t fill up my water after I finished it. I waited for 20 mins and then asked him to fill it up. FYI They charge you for a living wage fee of 5% before tax.
Osteria Toscana is our favorite Italian restaurant. Their pasta is really good, but I have to order veal because it is outstanding! This visit is had the Veal Piccatta.
Food and service were wonderful! Osteria has such a comfortable vibe, too. It's a great place for families and groups of friends to dine!

The staff got aggressive with someone filming on the sidewalk. That's a really bad first impression, wouldn't recommend this place.
Consistantly great food and great service. Osteria is one of my favorites since thhe=y opened!
I wanted to score it higher than good. It has always had a reputation for being very good to excellent. The road to good is paved with long periods where no trace of our server could be found. Was that because she was being asked to service tables both inside and out? Was it because the kitchen was backed up and there was need to say, "your order should be up soon", though that didn't happen, it might have been a way to soften the blow of slow service. I would say the pasta was a bit over cooked and the sauce had been reduced so much that is was more like a lump of angle hair instead of an al dente portion caressed by a light tomato sauce. Oh well, the lone restroom for the restaurant was open the one time I had to use it. Though my fiance was forced to stand in the hall waiting. Really, one unisex bathroom for the whole restaurant. I guess good was pretty accurate. Here's to hoping you find your way back to very good and excellent. Cheers.
We came for Mother’s Day and were seated promptly. As a starter, they offered us sourdough bread, which was very crunchy and paired with an exquisite olive oil, such a nice touch.
For the main dishes, we had the spinach ravioli, which tasted good, but wasn’t my favorite. I ordered the lasagna, and it had great flavor, really enjoyed it.
Kyle, our server, was very sweet and funny, and made the experience even better.
The service and food at Osteria has really gone downhill. When we checked in, the hostess was talking very loud behind us. We sat outside, ordered a bottle of wine from the hostess, who never brought it for 20 minutes. I told our waiter that she had our wine order and he had to come back and told us that she forgot what we ordered. 15 more minutes and we finally got the bottle. The lettuce in the Caesar salad had brown edges. The tortellini that was supposed to have a white sauce, had a brownish sauce. In addition, the kitchen door by the outside seating was open and the cooks were talking/yelling extremely loud to each other and the waiters, which created a less than desirable ambiance. We have enjoyed this restaurant many times in the past and our experience this time was far below what it had been in the past. It seemed low class.
