They were so excellent. So sad they closed.
Average nice staff members, the prices aren't too bad, and decent but tasty sandwiches, alongside their great baked goods. I especially like their TRADITIONAL RASPBERRY LINZER COOKIES. Overall a pretty good cafe.
Service was good but food was ok. Lemon bars were really firm and heavy on the gelatin. Tasted very processed. The selection of baked goods did not look incredibly appealing. Expected a lot more from such a large bakery
Rosa is the best! She helped me out in a pinch for a birthday, was very professional and kind--I'm forever grateful. The carrot cake was AMAZING and was a huge hit at the party. Thanks again, Rosa!! -Lindsay (10/16/18)
Good place to grab a quick breakfast. Service was nice, food was fine, needed to wait a little bit though. Be aware that sandwich sizes are quite big!
One of my favorite breakfast spots on Cal Ave. Reasonable prices and quick service. The coffee is good and the bagels are passable. Feels down-to-earth and approachable, no-frills.
A great small bakery love the lemon bars outstanding low in sugar
I love this place, cant wait to get a few goodies for tonight, not sure what ill get today, not sure what they have
Family had take out breakfast twice during our stay in Palo Alto. The chocolate croissant and croissant breakfast sandwich were both very good. The breakfast egg sandwiches are made with scrabbled egg mixture and wished it was made clear; made the sandwiches just ok. Prices are reasonable for area.
Worst place I've ever had a sandwich. Three of us went here for lunch and we were all very disappointed. We had the meatloaf sandwich, Chipotle chicken sandwich, and pastrami. They were all terrible. The meatloaf was more of just ground beef with weird seasoning. Very limited sauce was put on the bread. The Dutch crunch was extraordinarily dry and hard. Never been so disappointed with a sandwich in my life. The baked goods look amazing however I didn't get to try any. But I do not recommend the sandwiches.

Sitting on the footpath/sidewalk having a Coffee and Pastry is one of life's pleasures - particularly in the warm dry sunshine of Palo Alto California. Palo Alto Baking Company on California Avenue have a myriad of tasty delights on display - only sorry I was'nt there longer to try more of them - as they all looked inviting.. Good service in a pleasant place - and time to sit and enjoy.
Average, nice, staff members, the prices aren't too bad, and FANTASTIC sandwiches, alongside their great baked goods. I especially like their TRADITIONAL RASPBERRY LINZER COOKIES, simply phenomenal. Overall a pretty good cafe. Edit: I have changed my review from 4 to 3 stars because, well, if you step foot into this cafe itself, you'll see. Most of the cafe just smells like a toilet. It isn't an incredibly strong smell, but you can certainly smell it if you under 60.. Maybe they're cleaning the tables with old rags? Maybe there's a plumbing problem? If it is a plumbing problem, they should close the cafe until its fixed. Whatever the problem is, it isn't very pleasant. When you step into a cafe, you go there to work on your computer, grab a coffee, a snack, something like that, but never to smell a dirty bathroom. Now, I haven't actually been in the bathroom, but with a smell like that, I doubt their bathroom is very pleasing. So please, I ask the staff, do something about the smell, it's actually, really, surprisingly easy, Febreze, air freshener, candles, perfumes, but it's sort of insulting that staff know this is happening (because, who works there and doesn't notice?!) and won't to much about, regardless if someone has notified them about it. AND I ALSO FOUND A FEW DARK HAIRS ON MY PLATE. This is why staff with long hair need to wait those little plastic bonnet things, so these things don't happen! I still go here, but will certainly be avoiding it for a while. I mean its still has great food..but please work on the hygiene smell there.
My chicken pesto sandwich was delicious, I loved the coffee, and admiring all the delicious looking cakes (plus, gotta support local businesses!)....but customer service is lacking. The young lady who was cashier was super nice and helpful, but our "waitress" slammed our dishes down at the table because we weren't 100% sure she was carrying our order and, hence, made her wait too long. Needs better service.
Neighborhood bakery who do everything from croissants to wedding cakes. Good Kona-blend coffee, pastries, cake. Somewhat pricey.
Good food + good service = 5 stars - food poisioning in reality = 0 but i'll give you 2. I'm sure i'm just an unfortunate exception, but the fact I was 12 miles from home and had to ride my bike back while spewing water from my a** and blowing chunks all over trees still make me a little unhappy....just a little.
