Very relaxing ambiance, great waitstaff (Kiran), creative food, wonderful experience overall.
ROOH was a total surprise, I was not expecting an Indian restaurant to be so progressively innovative. Everything was an explosion of flavors like I've never had before and a beautiful work of art Our server, Aaron was outstanding and really cared about us like he was welcoming into his home as well as the lovely general manager/owner.. Rooh is a heavenly Indian delight !!
Good fusion Indian food. Beautiful plating with lots of colors and fun details. It was a bit loud when we were there. The staff is efficient and accommodating. Some vegan options.
It’s a Indian restaurant with a blend of foreign touch but did not like much
The butter naans were very thick not that soft and the gravy was ok
It might have a nice presentation but did not like the taste
Some paneer dish was cute I don’t remember the name but it was nice
But ambiance is quite different so it’s nice
But it’s expensive
The food is delicious. The menu is a contemporary/modern take on typical Indian dishes. I've been here twice, the small plates are really good, and were really interesting. I had the paneer chili roll which was really good, and came with a delectable tangy sauce.
The large plates were good tasting, but nothing very different from typical Indian cooking. The paneer pinwheel is interesting, but the flavors are not very new, unlike the paneer chili roll.
Service was a bit slow when crowded, but the first time, when it was not rush hour, the service was pretty good. On a Friday evening, I had to wait for a while to get the check, which shouldn't take too long!
I’ve visited several new restaurants in Palo Alto after trying Ettan and Khazana in the same area, and decided to check out Rooh. While the food is beautifully presented, the flavors don’t quite live up to the visual appeal. For the high price, both the portion size and quality fall short, making it unlikely that I would return. Service was lacking, likely due to understaffing, as orders and the check were forgotten. The wine selection was limited availabile, which is understandable on a busy weekend. Overall, Rooh doesn’t come close to ranking among the Bay Area’s top 10 Indian restaurants.
We had a great experience at Rooh, where we went after a few years. The hostess and server were very attentive, polite and kind. They acknowledged our parents' birthdays and spoke with them so nicely and warmly. Appetizers and drinks were always good at Rooh, but we were impressed with the new options added to the menu now. And the main course didn't disappoint either. Highly recommend the place and definitely coming back again... soon.
Excellent place and popularily located serving some innovaticeINDIAN DISHES! COULD BE TERMED AS morder gartronomic indian cuisine! Love their twist! Red chandelier, coctails and their innovative food ,their HEAD CHEF APPURVA who was chef de cuisine from famous TAJ PALACE MUMBAI and serving his magic here as well
Always charming and ready to talk to guest ! It was an amazing night we had ! Highly recommended
Very nice place
Ambience is beautiful the food is more of fusion food but maintains the Indian touch.
The live music was soothing.
The lady ( sorry don’t know her name)there made us very comfortable and gave us a brief history of the restaurants they have all over the place.
She even made my mom’s presence noticed and even she knew how to keep kids happy.
The food overall was good less on the quantity though but good for special events.
We ordered avocado millet bhel, prawns, jackfruit toast, Kashmiri wazvan and can three ways with garlic naan.
Recommend it if you love Indian food and if you are in Bay Area
The food was cold and not something I would like to try again. According to my wife we we are not coming to this place again.
Restaurantji Recommends
The General Manager is very pleasant/personable, and explained the various menu options. Very helpful. She also told us about the family of restaurants, and the various locations. Most of our party of 8 ordered platters, so we can't comment on majority of the menu
We had an wonderful dining experience at Rooh. We are not experienced with Indian cuisine and felt welcomed and well introduced to the menu. All the staff were attentive and helpful and recommended wonderful dishes. We will definitely come back!
The food is incredible!! Get the chaat and kulcha, you won't be sorry. Such thoughtful and delicious use of spice and presentation was incredible!
I absolutely love ROOH in San Francisco and have been there many times, so I was excited to try the Palo Alto location while in the South Bay. The menu has some differences, which was a nice surprise - but unfortunately, the experience overall was disappointing. The food lacked flavor and felt quite mediocre, especially considering the high price point. Service was also noticeably slow. For the $$$ you're spending, there are definitely better Indian restaurants just down the block. I won't be returning to this location.
Completely overpriced for what they offer. Would not recommend. Ordered meatball dish, priced at $40 --- terrible taste. Ordered lamb chops dish --- was decent. The hostess came by to ask about our dining experience. We gave her our honest feedback; she talked a lot but did nothing to encourage us to return.
