Sushi Roku offers a chic and sophisticated dining atmosphere that blends modern elegance with traditional Japanese aesthetics. Located in the Stanford Shopping Center, the restaurant features stylish decor with sleek wooden accents, contemporary furnishings, and soft lighting that creates an upscale yet inviting environment. The outdoor seating area is especially charming, providing a serene setting for an enjoyable dining experience. The ambiance is perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings.

Food:
The food at Sushi Roku is exceptional, showcasing a blend of traditional Japanese flavors with innovative twists. The menu offers a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, and creative rolls, all made with the freshest ingredients. The yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño is a standout, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The signature rolls, such as the Katana and the Baked Crab Hand Roll, are beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The robata grill items are cooked to perfection and add a delightful dimension to the menu. Additionally, the omakase experience is highly recommended for those looking to indulge in a curated selection of the chef's best offerings.

We ordered the Gensai Roll, Tuna Japaeno Roll (Can't go wrong at all with this) , Tokubetsu Roll, Full Hanabi (Tuna), Fluke Kumquat (FTW), Hamachi Serrano (can't get over that) and Yellowtail Diced Chillies. There was a bit of a delay in the first round getting to our table though after that the subsequent orders were stacked right one after the other. Loved every bit of all of these and Fluke Kumquat somehow turned out to be my favorite.

Service:
The service at Sushi Roku is generally excellent, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who are dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience. The servers are well-versed in the menu and are happy to offer recommendations and accommodate special requests. While the service is usually prompt and efficient, there can be occasional delays during peak times. Nonetheless, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff make up for any minor inconveniences. Josh gave us a phenomenal welcome while taking us to our seat. Emily started with taking our orders and helped us with the options and our never ending questions around the menu. Finally, Terrence was kind enough (he stopped on his way out , and it got late) and helped us with a picture at the end and all this while he was a fantastic manager running the show to near perfection. Thank you folks!!!

Value:
While Sushi Roku is on the pricier side, the quality of the food, the elegant ambiance, and the level of service make it worth the expense. The portions are generous, and the attention to detail in each dish justifies the higher price point. It's an ideal spot for special occasions, date nights, or when you're in the mood to splurge on an exceptional dining experience.

The kitchen took a jidori chicken breast and grilled it to smithereens. Rubber. Look what they did to my boy.
Service was fantastic, though.

Sushi Roku in Palo Alto offers a solid sushi experience without breaking the bank. While the fish quality isn't the absolute top-tier you'd find at high-end sushi spots, it's still fresh and decent for the Bay Area. You won't get the premium sushi-grade fish, but for the price, it’s a reasonable trade-off. The ambiance is modern and inviting, making it a good spot for a casual sushi outing. If you're looking for something satisfying without splurging, this place is worth a visit.

Walked into the restaurant and it was 75% empty. We asked for a table and they said they were all booked up and turned us away. Not sure whether they’re trying to create this allure that it’s busy and desired but I don’t buy it

I got the sushi platter, and their sushi is good. I also tried their grilled sea bass I think? They grilled it really well. The meat retained the juice and was really soft with hints of burnt flavor. The food is quite expensive here, hence the 4 star. But it’s also in Bay Area ? I have had sushi around the same price with much worse quality tho. Also, many sushi places I’ve been to in Bay Area with 4+ stars review serve raw fish that just taste like raw fish, so I think I would come here again.

Fantastic first time experience in Sushi Roku. Josh (I think that was his name) in the front desk was such a gentleman. Very polite, and I would say the perfect person to greet customers. Very good first impression of this restaurant thanks to him! My server, Jake, is very attentive & efficient. I love his recommendation, popcorn shrimp tempura. I'm always craving it. The atmosphere is very pleasant & relaxing. Food is delicious, and more like a fusion rather than traditional japanese.

Good seating conducive of electric conversation? Surely! Service that allows the conversation to linger a little too long entree-less? Hungrily.
The chef is Jalapeño happy with the appetizers, but the sushi was delicious. You can get similarly good sushi from the many spots in the nearby downtown for half the price, but you’re paying a premium here for the atmosphere, and it was well worth it.

We made a reservation for 7:00pm, outdoor patio - when we arrived we were asked if we want to sit inside or outside because for outside there was a wait time.

Wait time? When I explained that we have reserved outside seating, here is what we didn't get:
- we didn't get a smile
- we didn't get "we are sorry" (this would have been enough)
- we didn't get a suggestion to wait at the bar
- we didn't get "a drink on us"

I asked if there is a better way to reserve a table in future and I got dead serious face and explanation that previous guests are taking a while to get up. Thats it. So we have waited for 25 minutes in front of the restaurant like two complete idiots.

Finally when we sat down, our food took so long to come out that after appetizers we were not really hungry anymore. I've waited for my dish for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

I wish I could say that the wait time was somehow remedied with amazing food that arrived at the end, but I cant. Food was just OK.

Second visit to Sushi Roku of Stanford Mall in Palo Alto and it keeps getting better..
We enjoy sitting at the bar and watching all the action from the busy staff, plus the service is more attentive.
We indulged in a couple of adult beverages and a plethora of small plates.
Menu selections are served smaller but pack a powerful punch of flavor.
This time we tackled two different sushi rolls, three scrumptious skewers, spicy and mild miso soups, about six quality Sashimi Nigiri bites and some sweet Mochi to balance it out.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Hightop bar tables and standard tables as well. It gets busy so I suggest making reservations.
Food and drinks are pricey and add up quick because of the smaller portions... So beware.
Otherwise, awesome dining experience!

Good place to enjoy a special occasion. The Sashimi was insanely small portion (very thin) for the price.

Total garbage. Don't waste your time or money. They can't even make rice correctly, and the temperature is not right for storing sushi. Yuck.
