There is a 20% mandatory service charge yet they don't offer table service. You have to order the food yourself from the takeout area and prompt them for your drinks at the bar. Not only did I feel ripped off, My waiter didn't know how to wear a mask. If my waiter reads this cover your $&@! Nose with your mask if you don't want to spread the delta variant.

Going to miss them, have to drive to Mountain View now

I asked for artichoke hearts and was willing to pay for them, but they wouldn't sell them to me because they are a free side and "don't have a price". If they have it. Why can't I buy it. I don't see the issue here. The manager was rude about it but the man working at the takeout counter was very nice about it. Figure out a price for the artichokes so I can buy them. Please and thank you

Food was bad. had a strange after taste. service took way too long to get our food. it wasn't even busy. restrooms were disgusting, wet and dirty. Never coming here again. I wouldn't event give a star.

Horrible service here.Had to wait in line for a good 10 minutes to place our order. When we sat down, half of my party's silverware was dirty. One of the glasses of water had some sort of sauce smeared on the outside of it.There were no condiments brought to our table at all. When our order arrived, one plate was missing an item. When we asked for the missing item, some clean silverware, condiments and a new glass of water, the server seemed bothered. She never did bring the water. We asked again a few minutes later, it never came. Finally, I had to get up, go to the counter and ask someone else for water. This is by far the worst experience eating out that I've had in a LONG time, but not the end of the world. HOWEVER, what makes it especially disturbing is that this restaurant automatically adds 20% gratuity to every dine-in order. So basically EVERYTHING was wrong in some way from beginning to end but we were forced to give a tip that, in my opinion, would constitute exceptional service. The food itself was really good, but that was THE ONLY redeeming quality at this place. I would like to say that next time I would just get the food to go and enjoy it in a cleaner environment, but they add 10% gratuity for take out as well. After this experience, I refuse to prepay a tip ever again. Will not be coming back.

(Edited for accuracy)Just paid $20.21 for 1 hamburger, no drinks, fries. Standard bun, beef, lettuce and tomatoes.%20 gratuity is forced on everyone dining in. Simply too expensive for what I received. The "service" is merely one server dropping off the tray.

We had 2 burgers and 2 cocktails for $70!! That’s ridiculous. The tip was included and for what?? The customer service was terrible. The only thing they did was bring the menu and we had to get up to the register and give them our order. Never coming back to this place!!

The portions have really gone down over the years and they charge you extra for cheese and sauce is now. Be warned.

My favourite place to get veggie burgers. Their veggie patty is so juicy and flavorful. Can customize and add toppings as you like . Good Parmesan fries . Vanilla and chocolate milk shakes are comforting

not the cleanest place and is a bit expensive. you pay separate for toppings, fries, drinks plus they automatically add a 20% "service fee" to your bill. feels a lot like a denny's and there are other places in the area that would be better value for your money.

Updated: after finally reaching someone at Counter my missing order prices were refunded. We enjoyed our food so we will try again on another day to try the shakes. I ordered everything online. A less mobile family member of mine saw their ad and wanted to try their burgers. I offered to pick late lunch as this location is near my carpool loop. The blind ordering made that part easy. When I arrived I sent in my teenage daughter for the food as the parking was tight in the pick up area as California st is closed to through traffic ( I haven't been to this location so I didn't know.) . Once we got the food home and distributed food to each person, we realized we were missing items. No great way to fix that issue that I could imagine as it's a hike to our house and only a little loop out from our normal carpool. Everything was packaged nicely and labeled. My youngest found his plain burger to be to peppery. He's not my pickiest eater so I was surprised when I found lots of black pepper ( so much that it was rubbing off on his bun) We ordered 7 burgers and everyone else was delighted with their food choices.

We ordered a variety of menu options and everyone loved what they got. I had the Bison is Gouda and it was spectacular!! 10/10 would eat again.P.S. the milkshakes are totally worth it.

Honest Reviews

During our stay at The Counter we experienced extreme rudeness and extreme discomfort as the heaters failed to work. The manager at this establishment decided to take herself into our personal life and made a rude comment on a friend.

Manager injected into herself into my relationship with my mom. She has no idea what I'm going through and felt the need to comment on my relationship and said she wasn't going to take my order. I am 20 years old and my home just burned down--I was having a bad day and she acted like she was above me. I will never be coming back to this restaurant and will be telling everyone I know not to come here, and I've been coming here for 10 years. Food is good, service and mindfulness is a shame.
