Best ice cream in town (we like this much more than Salt & Straw or anything else).

Too expensive, and they always have “boutique” flavors like peppercorn or grape nobody in their right mind would prefer over, I don’t know, chocolate or strawberry.

Intensely flavored and interesting flavor combinations. Clean and natural mouth feel without fake guar gum or other binders. Not the richest in cream content, but well balanced. Sometimes the line moves slowly despite the staff's best efforts, because I have only ever seen one person working behind the counter. The owners should hire two and they would lose fewer people to the wait.

I don’t even write bad reviews often, but the prices here were insane. 7 dollars for a super tiny scoop was insane even for the Bay Area. I know so many ice cream shops that are cheaper/better value even in places which have higher rent. The staff was friendly but the prices were a joke even for Palo Alto

The most expensive ice cream shop I've experienced in the bay area. Small selection, small portions, below average quality.

To be honest, I’m not an ice cream person or cone person but The Penny has changed my mind! This place is amazing and I love the team! Town and Country is lovely ! Julia and Zach have made my experience the very best!!

after our lunch my hus said there is a cute ice cream shop near by so we came check it out～the staff is extremely friendly. i try coffee and dark chocolate the ice cream style reminds me of gelato. its not that creamy but very tasty
i choose dark chocolate and when i asked about the marshmallow topping he said cuz it's my first time here so he can give it for free～really appreciate
a perfect ice cream and friendly people and also its me and my hus‘s 8th anniversary so happy～～～

All ice creams have egg hence this place is not for vegetarians. Only vegan option of dark chocolate was decent

Love the flavors of Penny Ice Creamery. My favorite is Verve coffee with chocolate almond praline. Delicious!

Ice cream was fine. Service was terrible -- one person was walking around behind the counter offering no help and answered rudely when we asked if we were standing in the right line. The other was trying to serve customers but about as slowly and inefficiently as one could imagine. Prices are very high. Not worth the hassle or the indifference. For the management: Perhaps (1) instruct your associates that when a long line forms, they should stop what else they're doing and help serve customers; (2) instruct associates to at least make eye contact and say "I'll be right with you" to those waiting; (3) reorganize your process -- person at the counter had to keep going back and forth between the ice cream case, the scooping station, the cups, the cones, and the toppings. Looked like a comedy routine where the goal is to maximize customer frustration.

Interesting flavors to try. I am glad they let you sample a little. The cinnamon seemed a little burnt according to one taster, the caramel one as well. The strawberry seemed to have a yogurt taste but also more of a raspberry flavor. I chose the mint with chocolate chip which was reminiscent of the leaf itself. It is a nice dessert place whether or not you had a big meal. Service is nice. PS there was a neat "show" if someone before you orders a toasted marshmallow.
