VMware Discovery Center has a great staff with impressive technology. Nice welcoming visually appealing layout. Comfortable conference rooms and an outdoor area overlooking part of the campus beautiful Palo Alto VMware campus.

Food here is different everyday, you have to fill out forms at the grill for a long wait. No normal hamburgers and fries here. It's chef's choice where the menu changes daily and you get something new slopped on the burger meat. No steady pizza, no steady baked chicken like the Prom C cafeteria. Way too much Indian food, very seldom any Chinese, Mexican, Japanese selections. Often the pasta section is closed. Usually only 2 dessert options. It's a 'creative' bistro because it's HQ building, but not pleasant to eat there every day. It's not a place to dash to when you're craving something quick and specific between meetings. What were they thinking? Half the time we browse and can't find anything good, and either take the long walk to Prom C, walk across the street to SAP cafeteria, or drive off campus. Average cost of a lunch is $8 compared to $6 of Prom C. Can't wait until the second cafeteria opens!

They're still figuring things out upstairs at the cafeteria, but downstairs is where the party's at! The hours are great and there is plenty of seating to enjoy your coffee and/or dessert. As with the VMware cafeterias, the Hilltop Bistro is open to the public. So many yummy things to choose from. Sugar galore! * A full coffee menu, including iced drinks, espresso, lattes -- all featuring Illy coffee. * Pastries and quick lunch items, e.g. salads. * For dessert, choose from milkshakes, smoothies, cookie sandwiches, and even a GELATO BAR! * If you still can't find what you're looking for, there are a handful of vending machines located next to an ATM. The downside is getting there. (-) For staff: This includes a long walk down a concrete road through construction. I'm sure it will be much better in the future once construction is complete. (-) For the public: Parking can be difficult in the mornings, but spots open up around lunchtime and increase throughout the afternoon. Overall this is a lovely place to take a break from the daily grind. Service is quick and friendly here. TIP: My favorite perk about this place is they take the LevelUp app, where you just scan a barcode on your phone. No need to scramble with credit cards or cash. Just whip it out and scan!
