Food was ok. Server just lead us to our table without greeting us at the door, but that’s fine. Water cups were served warm. Ordering was easy and food came out fast. Scallop sushi bite was cooked for some reason whereas other sushi places serve it raw. Ramen and miso soup was cold when it was served? Weird because we were the first few people to order around diner time. All the fried food was hot which was good. Bathrooms have a bidet so I give a star for that. Ok for a first time experience to try this place but other than that just go to the sushi place across from pizza my heart ??‍♀️

Are you serious? Is this really a Japanese restaurant?Drinks are spilled like this and you don’t handle them before giving them to guests? Then I wiped it all by myself and it was sticky, so I had to go to the toilet to wash my hands? What’s even scarier is at the back, the passage to the toilet is very dirty, let alone the toilet?I thought I entered some abandoned house?‍♀️I went back to my seat and asked the waiter for paper towels. He saw me wiping the cups and the table, and it was completely fine. Maybe the waiter has not received the education and training of service?‍♀️I believe that everyone will make mistakes, but the service in various Japanese restaurants I have eaten in the past has been very perfect. Even if I accidentally make a mistake, I will quickly save it. It is impossible for guests to clean their own cups. ?What's even more outrageous is that the pork chop rice is very dry and unpalatable, and the pork chop is "thin slices", which is very different from the photo. I thought I was eating pork chop rice from a roadside stall? At present, the Japanese restaurants or Japanese bento shops I have eaten in this area are more expensive than in Japan, but at least they insist on a certain quality and service, and I am still willing to buy them just because I like them! All bento shops are better than yours! Please improve and don’t disgrace Japanese cuisine!I won’t come again ?

Used to be a good place to go for a lunch, but not anymore. I tried to order to go in the restaurant, but they didn’t know how to place a to go order. I just grabbed a seat to order myself, but the food was so so. Mine was overcooked and salty. The price is overpriced for the quality of food. There are better Japanese restaurants for the lower price range.

The restaurant and workers were very nice and you are able to order on a tablet for convenience! The place is modern and fancy. As much as I loved the place, the food was very expensive and not the highest quality. I feel that you could get better food for way cheaper. Would recommend to families whom have it in their budget.

Food is delicious here and they have plenty of high chairs for the kids! You can order on the iPad and not talk to anyone if you don't want to everything we had was delicious! My daughter has two orders of the udon! the wagyu was delicious and the curry was yum! Also the chicken 3 ways was so good! The decor was nice and modern. Interior is spacious! Perfect for families!

Strolling through this part of Palo Alto in early October on a Sunday evening, decided to stop here for dinner. Service was surprisingly awesome by everyone. The ambiance was also nice as the restaurant included good lighting that wasn't sterile. All the tables had little walls for privacy, but not overly tall like cubicles. So why 3 stars? The food and the price point didn't quite match up. There were 2 sets ordered, each with different components. They can be described as upscale bentos as they were priced between $32 to $40. Presentations were lovely, but both sets were overly salty and drenched with sauces. I had ordered a side of clam soup, which was the best item I ate. The salmon capriccio was another tasty app. Other than that, leftovers were taken home and diluted down for another meal.I can't say that I'd come again since there are many options up and down this street. Keep up the great work with the excellent service, consider not using so much salt and sauce, let people taste the naturalness of the food.#39/2023

I really enjoyed my experience at YAYOI! I was searching for a teishoku style meal and it was exactly what I was looking for.It was really popular on the Sunday afternoon for lunch but we were still seated quickly.I ordered the hitsumabushi which came with a cute little laminated instruction card. It was marinated eel over rice served with toppings and dashi broth. My friend ordered the mix toji and 6 pc salmon sashimi. The mixed toji was katsu, wagyu, and shrimp. We enjoyed every part of our meal. The service was good too, the kitchen was short staffed on that day so food took a bit longer to come out but we enjoyed our meal regardless.I would come again to try all of their other dishes for sure at any location.
