Nice people, very funky looking place but I had high hopes, having just come back from a trip -Los Angeles airport to flyaway shuttle -parkingin Van Nuys. So many places to choose around there. I am a huge fan of well-made Thai food -unfortunately their pra ram was very poor- this dish should come with fresh vegetables smothered in a good peanut sauce but instead it was almost canned spinach? With a tiny thing of peanut sauce on the side. I hate to say it was probably the worst I've ever had. I mistakenly got mix seafood and it tasted like it all came out of a bag of frozen mixed seafood. Pad Thai was a thick glob of noodles- I don't even think there was any egg in there. I asked for broccoli with the pad and it tasted just off. Very unfortunate as we spent over $75. The fish cake appetizers were fine but I imagine those also came premade. I'll be looking for other Thai places when I'm traveling in that area

This time I left disappointed. I had the parang curry with beef, Tom kha khan soup and beef larb. All three dishes left me wanting more...seasoning, that is. Everything was a little lackluster. The balance of flavors wasn't quite there. The Tom Kha soup had mushy more coconut than tangy lemon flavor, so it tasted more like coconut milk soup. The larb lacked lemon also. Or galangal or whatever it is that makes it tangy and citrusy flavor. The panaang curry was a little limp, as well. The meats were tender! Dishes tasted fresh made. Lack of seasoning and flavor was the culprit.

The Tom kha soup is so good they make it just creamy enough here, and it's so full of flavor, we get it with seafood and they give so much in it. My mom and I will go out of our way to get their soup, and then figure out what other dish we want every time. They have a lot of tables inside and it's has such a great vibe and the staff is usually attentive, they get so busy!

First time my wife and I came here we loved it. We were indecisive in what we wanted because they have a big menu. The waiter was nice and recommended the beef jerky as it's a customer favorite and his favorite. It was delicious! Very nice texture and flavor, the dipping sauce it comes with was great as well. I ordered the eggplant with ground chicken and it was delicious, my wife ordered a wonton soup and it was delicious. Flavors were on point and as good as any other great Thai food place. We came back for takeout on Valentine's Day. I was greeted nicely when I came in and when I went to pick up my order a women gave me a rose to give to my wife'. I thought that was very nice of her. My order was the same as before but instead of the soup we got Pad Kra Pow with ground pork. Again it was delicious. Everything was good just like the first time. We will be coming back here to eat in and take out and I recommend trying them if you enjoy good Thai food. I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews because for us it has been perfect.

My husband and I were looking another Thai place to go. I had interest in this restaurant because the reviews. People go there for years. The ambiance is a little different than others Thai restaurants, cozy, like a small American vibe. Perfect for date or family. The food is typically from Northwest Thailand. They have plates with black beans sauce. You should try it! Flavor c vc and no spicy. We like so much there. Good place for valentines night. They have a good space for party! And real $gooood!

I recently had the unique opportunity to photograph The Original Khun Dang Thai Restaurant for a project with Doordash. As a commercial photographer specializing in gastronomy, I've witnessed many establishments, but this one truly stands out. From the moment I stepped in, the staff's warmth and the welcoming atmosphere set a fantastic tone for the session. Although I didn’t get a chance to taste the dishes, I captured their visual appeal and the passion the team pours into each presentation. Each dish reflected a balance between art and tradition, a testament to their dedication to authentic Thai cuisine. As Daniel The Photographer based in Los Angeles, I pride myself on collaborating with local businesses and highlighting their uniqueness through my lens. This project was more than just an assignment; it was an experience that allowed me to appreciate the beauty and effort behind each plate. If you're looking for an authentic culinary experience with exceptional service, The Original Khun Dang Thai Restaurant is definitely a place to consider. And for businesses seeking to capture the essence of their brand through high-quality photographs, you can count on me to bring that artistic and professional vision.Thank you, The Original Khun Dang Thai Restaurant, for a memorable session!

If I can give 0 star, just ordered through Door Dash and first time from this restaurant and look at the picture, which shows Chicken, Rice and egg, and now look at the Description which does not mention Rice and egg, one can be fooled if not paying attention on description. That is like confusing the customer and its like false advertisement and when I called the restaurant, the associate was RUDE and hung up on me and of course Door Dash office was closed. Beware ordering from this place.

This was my second time here and it was just as great if not better than the first time. The food here is amazing! It was a busy lunch hour and I got seated right away. The staff is very attentive too. I would say this is probably one of the best Thai restaurants in LA!

The Original Kuhn Dang is the first Thai restaurant I found after moving to LA from Tacoma 8 years ago. Western Washington has a big Thai population and lots of fantastic Thai food. I've traveled in Thailand and sampled the fare in roadside stands, nice sit down restaurants, seafood grilled from the Gulf of Thailand on the beach over a fire, and even from a motorscooter sidecar brazier. The food at Kuhn Dang is the real deal, great portions, tasty as heck, and the lovely Thai hospitality is on display. I'm not going to review every dish I've had there but let it be known, every one I have had has been amazing.

Always delicious and tasty choices in their menu. From appetizer to main dishes and don't forget to ask their hidden menus. Excellent service from all the great team, May, Angie, Apple, Kat, Johnny, and everyone. This is my kitchen extension and I thank them all for working so hard to serve us.
