If you want a Peruvian food experience, dine at Bodegon No 69 In Old Town Pasadena. We were able to dine indoors without a reservation (short wait). We were seated in their private dining area as tables indoors were full. For starters, we got the jalea mixta and empanadas (beef and chicken). If you like deep fried seafood, get the jalea mixta. Their empanadas was crispy, stuffed with fillings of choice. For ceviches, get the ceviche B69, which includes a variety of seafood. For entrees, I recommend the arroz con mariscos (seafood paella) and lomo saltado. Both are popular dishes and very flavorful. They give a generous amount of seafood. Drinks were okay, I wasn't impressed with the presentation or taste. Service was friendly. Just took long for food to come out in between meals. Overall, lively atmosphere and authentic Peruvian food!

Best Peruvian food I've found in the la area... Bomb ass ceviche.. delicious seafood and drinks!! Literally we ordered so many plates and they were all delicious and we finished them. My favorite dish of the night was definitely the arroz con pollo!! Get it. Not only that the staff was great we loved our server Carlos he was a joy we can't wait to come back and eat this delicious food. The vibe of the restaurant was beautiful too.

Let me start with the service. On a Saturday 1:30pm, for a party of seven (and a dog, yes it's dog friendly!), it took 20 mins for us to be seated, and another 25 mins to get water. Not sure if they are busy (many empty tables outside) or short staffed. The first impression was certainly below average for most restaurants I visited. When the food finally came to the table, we were blown away by the quality and the flavor of the Peruvian food! We ordered a few appetizers (ceviche, beef hearts), a salad (there is only one salad on the menu), and a bunch of main dishes including multiple chicken dishes, beans, pork, paella seafood with rice, and more. Every single dish was so tasty. The size of the corn kernel is very impressive (they call it Peruvian corn which has a bit sticky and chewy texture). Overall the good quality overweighed the unpleasantness of the service. The server was overall kind and helpful but it simply took too long to get served.

No doubt, this place is getting better, and better. I ordered the Tiradito a los dos ajíes and the CauCau. Both were excellent!!! And.....The service was great as well....

I recently dined here with a group of friends. While the food was delicious, the service was so off. First off, we made reservations on a Friday night. Upon arrival, we were sat in the very back. It was weird cause the host sat us in the back but left the menu at a random area and didn't even point to which our table was. We ended up ordering lomo saltado, a fish stew, and a dish similar to a beef birria. Everything was absolutely delicious, which is why I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 3. At the end, when we asked for to go containers, the lady accidentally threw our dish away instead. Luckily, they were extremely apologetic, so they gave us a new dish, but they definitely need to work out their kinks as far as service. P.S. If you're looking for a cocktail, they don't have liquor here. It's only beer and wine (at least for now).

Unfortunately our experience at Bodegón was very disappointing. From a group of about 16, we were the first to arrive excited to look over the menu and get started with drinks. My friend ordered a sangria that she only received after we reminded our server about it about 20 min later. It only became worse after this. Our whole table ordered at the same time yet my plate was the last to arrive, more than 30min after everyone had already received theirs. My whole table had finished eating except for my 2 friends who received their plate just 10min before mine - late as well. Once my plate arrived there was no more appetite in me after some of the guests at our table were practically ready to leave since they had finished their meal while I was barely receiving mine. We asked for boxes to go. Not once did a server or manager come to apologize for the continuous wait time for my plate to arrive. It was even charged to our bill even though I didn't have a bite of it at the table. This would have been the least consideration they could have had.

Met friends here for lunch the other week. Service was friendly but had to repeatedly ask for water. Once we were served nobody really checked on us. We ordered the Choclo Serrano (Peruvian corn & fresco cheese) & Jalea Mixta (fried mixed seafood) appetizers. The former was very good but the portion could've been larger for the price. I only had some fish, shrimp & calamari from the latter. The calamari was overcooked & the shrimp was ok. The fish was excellent & I'd go back just for that. I got the chicken Milanesa con tallarin verde as my entrée, which ended up being enough for three more meals. The pesto pasta & potatoes with yellow sauce were very good. The chicken was ok but tough. On another note, the bathrooms are downstairs. I didn't see an elevator, but wasn't looking for one either.

I am a big fan of Peruvian food. My wife and I have tried places all over the LA area for many years now. Being a Pasadena native, it provides me great pleasure to know that the best Peruvian spot in LA is Bodegon No. 69 in Pasadena. My mother-in-law is Peruvian, and said that the food tastes just as it did when she grew up in Peru, but with increased quality. That is the best compliment any restaurant can receive.

Come earlier to avoid the long waiting time. The waitress is so kind of changing tables for us, because we ordered too much to fit the two person table So, the food comes with large service, order less beginning, add more if necessary. Very pleasant vibes ?. Love it!
