The food here is really good and the service is not bad. Only down side is the soda is too syrupy. The ambiance is nice as well.

I blame management. It seems like its a common occurance for them to be under staffed. We placed our order at 11:25 and didnt get our food until 12. I was missing my thai tea with boba and when i called the worker back he said, “i’ll make it later, we’re really backed up on orders.”I didnt get my thai tea until 12:30. It was mediocre at best and the boba was missing but at this point I was not waiting another 30 min-1hr.I truly feel for the workers as it was just 2 of them and a whole line of customers waiting for their food. It didnt seem like they were trained to deal with a high volume of customers.Another review also mentioned there were only 2 workers so it sounds like management needs to give more people hours or hire more workers. The food was okay, needed a bit more flavor and the orange chicken was slightly overcooked. The noodles lacked flavor as well.Food might’ve been better if the workers werent rushing to fulfill a crazy amount of orders. Also, they charge for sauces. They should provide customers with at least 1 sauce and charge for additionals.

I have eaten so much dim sum and soup dumplings and fast Asian food. The food here is mediocre, at best. I give it 2 stars bc it is fresh and edible. But it is NOT FAST nor "express". It is certainly not delicious or even correct. The cucumber salad hasn't been marinated, they took fresh cucumber and tossed it with a dressing of soy sauce and ketchup, maybe a dash of cayenne? We ordered soup dumplings, teriyaki beef bao, and shu mai.We waited 45 minutes for our order to be completed. It came out in small bundles, maybe they misread the order, or? Maybe only one microwave was working? Inept business model! Bad management. Clearly this biz model cares nothing for their overwhelmed employees, their customers, or the impact the food service in layers of plastic has upon the environment. It took nearly an hour for the Thai iced tea that my husband ordered at the computer when we entered to be ready. We had finished our meal and then had to wait another 10 minutes for a terrible, bland, not sweet Thai iced tea (that lacked the flavor of tea), to be served. There is no service. The 2 men working in the kitchen shove food onto the counter that one orders from a computer screen at the entry. There is no ambiance. Too loud very bad 20yr old house music in a blank plastic and stainless steel environment is not ambiance. We asked them to turn down the blaring music, they did. A notch.Worst of all, the amount of plastic and paper and aluminum waste generated by our lunch for 3 was astonishing and depressing. The photo doesn't even capture it all bc more sad food in multiple containers was still on the way.I started writing this review while waiting for the meal.It took SO LONG, you can tell by how long this review became! I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time now and glad I finally did. As a local Pasadena restaurant I've seen many businesses at this location change many times. So far this restaurant has been doing well since covid. Food: double cheeseburger bao: it came with fries. The bread was super soft and fluffy. The burger was surprisingly juicy and delicious. The fries were on the skinnier side. I would prefer either thicker fried or tater tots. Sui Mai and hargow(shrimp dumplings)Sui Mar and hargow was fresh and delicious. It wasn't salty it's definitely the same if not better than going to downtown Chinatown. This was a lot closer and good to know that I can get dim sum until 9pmIce tea:Was fresh and cold. Not too sweet and not water down.Restaurant:We went here around 730pm and literally there was one person here eating which I prefer peace and quiet. I actually took my family and baby here. They're normally busy and most of their orders are from grub hub or other online food services.Parking: I came here after 6p there plenty of parking which is an outside parking lot shared by Teddy's tacos and subway. During the daytime it's a limited parking time of 40mins. The majority of people that eat here during the daytime are PCC students.Overall experience:I highly recommend giving them a try. If you like dim sum and burgers this is the place to go to

This place was such a pleasant surprise and experience for me and my partner as we weren't expecting to find an asian fusion burger place that also sells egg rolls which are both delicious. Everything was brought to our table hot and tasty especially complimented by their sauces. I enjoy the environment inside as it feels more casual and laid back. Heard that they removed the deep fried Bao buns and hope that is not true.

Parking in back for 20-45min. Food takes awhile so arrive early. Pretty tasty chicken in bun bao. Bottom bun was pretty chewy. Siu mai was good but nothing special. Place was empty & clean. Restrooms are available in back. Hand sanitizer provided in front. Good for friends & family hangout.

I was expecting more flavor! The pizza bao was bland and could have been way better. You can't get pizza flavor wrong in a bao. There wasn't enough red sauce and there could have been mozzarella in there. Even throw in a couple pepperonis. The fried pumpkin was probably the best tasting thing. It tasted like it could be from a carnival. Golden crisp on the outside. I like the melon tea but the Thai tea was awful. So many other places blocks always that have more decent Thai teas. We also got this rice noodle item that were pieces of rice noodles. Ummm. I was so exited about this place.

Came by for dinner last week after working in Pasadena as I was craving some dim sum! Ordering was simple as I used their tablet kiosk to browse through the menu and picked what I wanted, although you can also order right at the counter if they aren't too busy. Their prices are pretty affordable compared to most places in the area.- Xiao Long Bao- Curry Chicken Bao- Shu Mai- Thai TeaAll the food is made fresh to order so it takes a little while before your food comes out while drinks come out right away. I waited around 15 mins before my food was brought to my table and it smelled so good. The thai tea was good, classic and simple. It was sweet and creamy but not too milky. The Shu Mai had a good amount of filling on the inside but flavor wise, it was a bit bland without their house chili oil which was delicious and packed some heat! I thought the Xiao Long Bao was flavorful and full of soup and filling but the skin was a bit weak and broke easily as I tried to remove it from the tin they were in so I'm gonna give them a 3/5 but pricing wise they are affordable. The curry chicken bao was alright with a good amount of filling inside and the bao itself was soft and pillowy, but I found it didn't have enough curry flavor for me and needed some soy sauce or chili sauce to be enjoyed.Overall, Bun Bun Bao is a decent lunch or dinner spot if you are wanting some dumplings or dim sum but there are better options that cost just a little more nearby in Arcadia or SGV but I would come back here if I was close by.

I'm so sad I moved! I loved this place. I chose it over chic fil a, chipotle, and everything else around PCC every time. Can't wait to come back one day. I could literally eat 100 chicken bun bun

First time here and I had the Crab & Shrimp Siu Mai, Lo Mai Gai and the Siu Mai. All of them were really good. The person working the register suggested Siu Mai and I was not disappointed at all!!! All of the flavors were really good. Add some of the house made chili oil and it adds even more umami! I will defiantly be back again for lunch. I highly recommend this place for a quick and inexpensive lunch. I had all 3 of these items and a peach tea for $26.57.. In today's market I feel that this is a really good value.

Stopped by Bun Bun Bao for the first time during a short visit to Pasadena. We ended up ordering some different types of dim sum and an order of popcorn chicken to-go through their website. The online system was easy to navigate through and quoted me a fairly accurate time for pick up. Service was friendly upon arrival, the establishment was extremely clean, and the food was fantastic. There is a small, free parking lot behind the establishment that is shared with the neighboring businesses. There is also some street parking a little more direct to their entrance. Although we ordered our food to go, there are several tables and chairs for patrons to dine in. As noted above, the quoted pickup time from the online order was pretty accurate. The food was fresh and hot upon receiving it. Our order consisted of - Har Gow- Crab & Shrimp Siu Mai- Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai- Popcorn ChickenEverything tasted great. Definitely exceeded my expectations by far, especially for the price point. The food was very affordable for outstanding quality. I highly recommend any of the items I ordered. You won't be disappointed as the quality and taste are there. So much more to try at Bun Bun Bao, specifically one of their actual baos! That chicken sandwich is next on my order. They left a strong first impression that will definitely bring my husband and I back for more in the future whenever we're back in Pasadena.
