The following is my response to Ron, the owner: I appreciate your reply, but you should apologize for your employees' rude behaviors. You can sugarcoat things however you like, but you were not there that night. I was, and all my family were, including the groom's parents. Everything I mentioned, unfortunately, happened. What's just as bad, if not worse, is your tone of denial. You're protecting your employees rather than pleasing your customers, or in this case, the guests. None of the guests I spoke with were satisfied with the service your unprofessional and arrogant employees provided. No one wanted the bride and groom to know this of course, but even the groom's dad himself voiced that your catering was the worst he's experienced. He said he's never witness people that rude before, especially when they're paid for their services. Do not pretend your workers are polite and it's the guests' problem. That's horrible on your part, especially when you weren't present. Rude and dismissive behavior should be punished, not dismissed nor rewarded. How do you explain the waitress refusing to let a man in his 80s have one appetizer while telling the hungry elderly, "Ladies first?" How do you justify another waitress saying 'no' snappishly and running away when asked if there are paper plates? How can your waiter bring out just 2 cups of dessert when there are 10 people at a table, and never come back with the rest? And how do you explain a guest, especially the groom's parents being denied cake at their own son's wedding? It's as if your employees refused to serve us when they're already paid to do so. Just one of the above instances would have been horrific on a wedding night, let alone all combined. And this would have been preventable had the bride and groom NOT hire castle catering. What a stupid and expensive mistake they made. I can guarantee you, most of the guests that night, besides the bride and groom, and I cannot speak for the wedding party (I meant to say family members of the honored couple), WILL NEVER EVER PAY YOU to cater for them because of the disrespectful waiters and waitresses you chose to hire and defend, those who also obviously lacked common sense. They do not even care about your company because had they did, they would have treated us so much respect we'd want to brag about the night and recommend your company to everyone needing a catering service. After the bad experience we've encountered, we will never recommend your service to anyone we care about either. I care about my fellow yelpers and I do not want them to waste their hard earned money on a company who'd hire the rudest employees I've ever encountered. Their behavior was so appalling that I can remember them vividly months after the special occasion. The truth must be heard. I don't believe that it's right that anyone should pay thousands of dollars to risk their guests being mocked and disrespected on their happy day, when there are lots of other cheaper, much nicer and more humble catering companies to choose from.

The management in the retirement office is running very bad there, the lady Miler ,said she is a manager been working 3Yeats, and there a Chinese man he said his name Peter is a low educate angry man they have very bad temper when received customer, if you guys don't like your job why you work there, go home. There no reason to yell customers , P. S. We still investigation that Peter received extra cash from seniors people who want to get in the motel early. P. S. Any time Chinese seniors go in office ask for help Peter show bad attitude angry, last our friends try to get in office He didn't want to open the doors. My old friends waiting until some one come out. We all thin the Superior Denise Garcia should let the Chinese man Peter go, he doesn't help any Chinese senior peoples at all. Need to get some one else replace. I hope the the administrators pay attention on this case.

Very relaxing event venue

The Romanesque Room is a gem that we found lurking in the shadows of its neighbor, the Castle Green. It is comprised of a charming banquet hall with beautiful columns and high arches, creating a domed ceiling, and it has its own bar, lounge area, and outside patio that's partitioned off. It comfortably hosted our party of almost 170 guests, without feeling cramped or looking too spacious. When my husband and I first saw the banquet hall 16 months before our wedding, we were ready to book for our reception. However, the real hidden gems of the Romanesque Room are its owners, Ron and Starla. They rent out this venue for events, as well as manage their catering company, Castle Catering. They make up a true mom-and-pop establishment, with no hidden strings or fees attached to their services. It was made crystal clear from our initial tour and meeting with Ron that he puts his clients above all else and isn't interested in making a profit off of unsuspecting couples simply wanting to celebrate their special day. Starla is the queen of communication, as she promptly returned all e-mails when Ron couldn't get to them, and they both were very thorough and comprehensive in their responses. My husband and I felt very well taken care of since the very beginning, and our correspondences with Ron and Starla kept us feeling informed, confident, and at ease. One thing to note is that they are old-fashioned and accept only personal checks--no credit cards, Square, Venmo, etc.--so be sure to have a little money saved up in the bank and come prepared with a checkbook for everything. Other things we love about the Romanesque Room are its diverse dining options, our ability to provide our own alcohol, and its exceptional service. We were having a multicultural wedding, and Ron was already aware of the Chinese ten-course, family-style banquet we had in mind. Castle Catering already partnered with our caterer, which made the planning process just that much more efficient. Other couples who plan a wedding know that a lot of the expenses that are attached to a budget or venue are the fees for having alcohol, and sometimes, one cannot even opt out from having a bar! For the Romanesque Room, all service and bartending fees were already included and made explicit from the beginning, and Ron even referred us to a supplier for our spirits. We ended up paying less than a third of what we were expected to pay per guest at other venues for a full open bar, with specialty cocktails per our request, for six hours. Finally, the staff at the Romanesque Room/Castle Catering are as friendly and as professional as they can get. I didn't meet them until our wedding day, but every interaction I had with them was pleasant, and they were very forgiving when I didn't know their names (sorry!) They worked seamlessly with the additional staff our caterer provided to plate and serve ethnic cuisine. In addition to all these things, Ron goes above and beyond to make sure that no detail is overlooked. Since we were planning our Pasadena reception from the San Francisco Bay Area, we had a bit of a handicap with coordinating with our vendors. Ron graciously met with another potential caterer, who wanted to discuss their options for setting up a pop-up kitchen, and also with our DJ/MC, who was in charge of our decor and needed to scope out dimensions and potential for lighting. All of this was done on Ron's own time, and he always reported back on the meeting and any decisions made, again setting the standard for service and communication. Being the hosts, we had the option of validating our guests' parking with our rental security deposit, although it's important to note that validation can only occur for the Schoolhouse Parking Facility (the parking garage directly across the street). We opted out of this, but we appreciated being told we had this available. Lastly, I will mention that Ron and Starla have a whole storehouse of decor at your fingertips. If you forget the box with your table numbers and s

We got married at Castle Green in May and cannot thank Castle Catering enough for helping facilitate it from start to finish. We had to email and meet with a few caterers to see if we could even afford a wedding at the beautiful Castle Green and once we talked to Ron and Starla, we knew it could happen! They were SO accomodating and reasonable. We used the restaurant partner program and got delicious food from Green Street Restaurant in Pasadena. Starla was easily the best communicator through the entire wedding planning process and super easy to work with. And Ron did everything he could to make all the details perfect. The service was wonderful, bartending was exceptional (take his advice and have the alcohol delivered by Bill at the Bottle Shop!!), and they just made sure we got everything we needed. Duane handled all the extra details on the week of and truly went above and beyond the call of duty. THANK YOU!

I worked with Castle Catering on a recent wedding. The staff were amazing. The positive energy and attention to detail made the event that much better. Ron and Duane did a marvelous job even with the tall order they had to fill. As an event planner working with professional staff that are reliable is key to any event success. Ron always answered my thousand questions and made sure the event was executed down to the smallest of details. If you are looking for an amazing team then Castle catering is your company!

We got married at the Castle Green and are so happy that we chose Ron and Starla with Castle Catering, we used their Restaurant Partnership Program and had Stonefire Grill for the food while they coordinated and ordered everything that we needed and asked for. They went out of their way to make our wedding run smoothly and were so supportive along the way. Their staff was professional and on point, and everything ran smoothly that they were in charge of. So pleased!

Castle Catering just did our wedding at Castle Green on 11/4. Their staff was very helpful and accommodating. Their servers had smiles throughout the night and did an amazing job. We had a buffet dinner for 140. Every guest had their food very quickly and dinner went smoothly. Tables were cleaned very quickly and servers were very helpful when asked. As the bride and groom, we were checked on frequently and they asked us if we needed anything. Our guests also had very good things to say about them. Thank you Ron and your team for being so good to us. On a day when everything was so hectic for us, it was great to see that you and your staff take great care in what they do. Cheers!

My husband and I just got married a month ago! We had a church wedding and our reception at Castle Catering-The Romanesque Room. The goal for our wedding was: a beautiful atmosphere (great backdrop for our wonderful photographer), delicious food (we had mediterranean by Vic), great music, and an open bar. We wanted to have an intimate guest list (75) and go very simple on decorations and flowers so we can spend more money on those main things, and with such an gorgeous venue we were able to do that. Even though we had 75 guests, the venue was set up so well that it didn't feel too big for the amount of people that were there. The extra perk of this venue was the people we worked with to make our wedding day happen: Starla, Ron, Duane, and the rest of the amazing servers. We had a little less than 6 months to plan our wedding, but they made it so simple and easy. Communication was amazing, we were always able to coordinate our schedules to meet with Ron (especially since I was driving up from Orange County), and they helped us save money where we could (food, flowers, and having an open bar!). They know what they're doing and are very good at it! When we got to our reception, we waited in a room before we did our grand entrance and they set up tons of water and appetizers that all our guests were eating during cocktail hour and we had plates of food already served for us waiting at our table after the entrance and first dance, and we actually got to eat! My husband and I would look at each other throughout the evening and just glow from how beautiful and smoothly everything turned out. Definitely worth the money. We are so grateful! Thank you!!

We just got married a few weeks ago at Castle Green. Castle Catering is one of the preferred vendors and they're conveniently right next door so I contacted them. Starla, answered my emails promptly. She coordinated the meetings with Ron. I was already pleased with the customer service via email and meeting with Ron sealed the deal. After the meeting I knew we were in good hands. Ron and Starla have 30 plus years experience. The meeting was very informative and I felt very comfortable with what they had to offer as our caterers for our big day. Moving forward throughout the months prior to the wedding Starla was great about answering any questions with helpful and honest answers. Our wedding was perfect and Castle Catering played a big part in it. The food was delicious. From appetizers to our dinner. I recommend the pot stickers, coconut shrimp, tri-tip and lemon chicken. As Bride and Groom we enjoyed our food so much we ate our whole plate. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. They worked so well with my day of Coordinator. It was so nice to have staff constantly check in to make sure all was good. I can't thank Ron, Starla, and the entire Castle Catering enough for making sure everything was smooth sailing and delicious for our day. I would love to work with them again, whenever we have any future catering needs. Thank you again!!

We had our wedding at Castle Green and after much research decided to go with Castle Catering. We wanted to have a vegan wedding, and Ron is able to do a restaurant partnership program so we used Eco Caters to provide the food and Ron provided all of the service, setting up the buffet, the bars, etc. From the beginning it was such a pleasure working with him and Starla. They are very professional and responsive to my many (many) emails. It's like having a wonderful uncle looking out for you on your wedding day. They were very fair in their pricing and tried to work with us and our budget. Everything went very smoothly on the big day and if you're having a wedding at Castle Green you just can't beat Ron's experience with that venue and the fact that his office is right next door. It made for a very smooth experience. Shout out to Duane, who was also so wonderful to work with! We also took Ron's advice to work with The Bottle Shop in providing the alcohol for our event, they have a partnership with Castle Catering which made that part of our event so much easier and more affordable. We highly recommend Castle Catering!

Seeing this catering service receive 5 stars compelled me to share my experience here. It's in the past, and I did not want to post a negative review, but I cannot lie. This place does not deserve 5 stars for their service. The treatment we got was so bad I'd give them zero stars if that were an option. My family and I were guests at a wedding here last year. They provided such bad service that none of us had a good time at a joyous occasion. For example, they brought out appetizers, and when one of my elderly uncle asked for a sample, they did not let him. They told him, "Ladies first." My dad witnessed the incident and asked my mom to go get a sample for my uncle. Then later in the night, my dad who was sitting at the honored guests' table wanted to get cake for a few guests at his table. He not only had to cut the pieces himself, but when he asked for paper plates, a female caterer told him, "No, we don't have paper plates," then walked away without offering any assistance whatsoever. Shocked? There's more. My aunt asked to use the bathroom as a caterer was blocking the way. One would expect the caterer to say, "Of course!" But no, the caterer told my aunt that she couldn't use the bathroom and walked away without telling my aunt where the other bathrooms are. When the food arrived, the caterer for our table, instead of putting the plate down in the middle for his guests, he would ask one of us put it down. I ignored him because I thought he was making us do his duty, but my cousin felt bad and helped him place the entrees on the table. There was 10 people at one table, yet when they brought out dessert, they brought out only 2 cups. We thought the waiter was going to bring out 8 more, but he just left and was never seen again. I remember thinking who's going to get dessert and who's not? We ended up giving the two cups to the two little toddlers at our table. I have no clue why they were so rude and arrogant and I left the place feeling very upset. I wish what happened was all a joke and I was making up everything, but it's all true. I wouldn't even want their service for free let alone pay thousands. I would never hire this catering service neither would I recommend them to anyone I care about. Do not use castle catering for a catering service. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere as you would be more satisfied.
