My wife and I had a great experience at Chak De California. The food was excellent, the ambience was nice, and the plating was done really well. The flavors felt authentic and reminded us of Punjab, which made it even better. Definitely recommend this place.

Ordered uber eats after a long trip. I am from India and have had butter chicken almost everywhere I have been around the world. This is so far the worst butter chicken I have had. Not worth the hard earned money. I ordered daal makhni as well, and that wasn’t great either .

We were finally able to visit last night. The place is beautiful and service was impeccable. We were dazzled by the reviews so we were excited to be able to try the food. We look forward to giving this restaurant another chance at a later point, but our meal was very underwhelming. We ordered the Paneer Do Pyaza and it was ok, we'd never tried this sauce so it was interesting, but felt somewhat lacking in flavor. We also ordered the chicken sliders and while the sauce was remarkable, the chicken was noticeably undercooked, it was very pink. I never return anything to the kitchen but we had to ask the server to please ask the kitchen to grill the sliders a little more as undercooked chicken can be very dangerous. He said we would get a replacement and we thanked him for being attentive. When the replacement sliders came out, about 10 minutes later, the chicken was slightly better cooked, still undercooked for our liking but at least it wasn't pink anymore. But the replacement slider did not have the sauce now, which was the whole point. We hope this restaurant performs well, we are local business owners and have seen so many businesses disappear so we are rooting for Chak de California, it is absolutely beautiful and service is great, but the food needs to match the quality of the setting.

This is my new go-to spot in Pasadena. Open late, food is fresh and the customer service is beyond special. It was my friend’s birthday and they came out with a special dessert for them! Solid upscale place with a down-to-earth vibe. Good food good times great service, genuinely all you could hope for in a desi restaurant

My boyfriend and I stopped by Chak de California on a whim and we’re so glad we did! The restaurant is decorated so beautifully and our server, Shubh, was absolutely the best. He was super friendly and happy to give us recommendations and answer any questions we had (my boyfriend has a dairy allergy). We really liked the samosas (with the green sauce!), the chicken tikka masala (so creamy and they get the sauce and chicken ratio just right), and the garlic naan. We liked it so much, we actually came back the following week. Highly recommend supporting this local business!

Despite the menu very clearly saying they have gluten free pancakes and gluten free toast, the waiter looked at us like we were crazy when we tried to order them and said “no, we don’t offer that” It was so bizarre given that it is on the menu but he acted like it was an odd request.
That’s fine if they don’t want to offer it but then don’t put it on the menu.
