Decent tasting savory muffin, however very over priced, and received it broken, tried to return it and they said they wouldn’t refund because the muffin was intentionally cut in half (pretty much falling apart) and that I should eat it with knife and fork like everyone else 🤣🤣🤣

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to the charming, highly-rated Hello You're Welcome café. They make and bake everything in house- you can even see the ovens. Really friendly staff with a slight hippie vibe. Some items were made with almond flour, like their giant chocolate chip cookie, so I had to skip them (allergic). I was pleasantly overwhelmed by a delicious gigantic frittata slice with bacon, onions, and tater tots inside. Togadachi coffee is really interesting: the beans were fermented with lavender. Extra sugar helped me adjust to the unique flavor. The wall full of retail items features coffee beans in VHS boxes, which is a first! I love their mugs and bought one to take home.

I went for the first time today around 1:45. Although the place was almost empty, only 2 other customers, the male staff person did not greet me. Was it the mask? Was it my race? Was it just a poorly trained staff member, who knows. I’m big on customer service or just basic politeness, especially since I’m here to spend my money. It may seem like a small thing to some, but it’s important to me.
The young lady who did come out and eventually help me (she gets 5 stars, this review is not directed at her, but the white male employee). It takes two seconds to greet a customer, especially when the place is empty. It’s weird when an employee is cheerfully chatting with other customers but completely ignores you. A “hello” and a “I’ll be right with you” should be bare minimum.

One of the few fully dedicated GF restaurants in Pasadena, Hello You're Welcome is 1000% worth visiting. Everything I've had here has been such a treat - especially the maple doughnut, but honestly it never disappoints.

Hello You’re Welcome is such a lovely find for specialty coffee lovers. There is a huge variety of drip, pour over, and espresso drinks that change daily, and the roasters they bring in are top notch. I particularly enjoyed the watermelon co-ferment on the origami dripper. Gigi and her team are thoughtful and deliberate with their coffee offerings, while still leaving space for the eccentric and experimental. When Special Agent Dale Cooper said, “a damn fine cup of coffee” he was undoubtedly speaking about Hello You’re Welcome!

There’s plenty of other reviews talking about the food and the pastries, which are great. But this cafe also takes their coffee VERY seriously. Tons of options for stuff on pour over, and a very knowledgeable staff behind the counter. Some of the best coffee I’ve had in the LA area.

Terrific little cafe. They made as good a flat white as any I’ve had in Melbourne or Sydney, complete with lovely coffee art in a lovely “to stay” cup. All done with cheerfulness.
If you like great coffee, this will get you there.

The best café in LA, easily. A small-town coffee shop in a sprawling metropolis -- an oasis.
Incredible vibe. Beautiful decor but not trying too hard. Staff that welcomes you in and actually makes you feel like welcome (unlike 90% of coffee shops in LA who treat you like you're an inconvenience for existing) and like they want you to be in there. Friendly and helpful and all-around pleasant people.
Amazing, unique baked goods made from high-quality ingredients. The donuts are phenomenal and their savory baked goods like fritattas and egg biscuits are out of this world, and you can't get anything really comparable anywhere else in the city, or in many places in America, really. It's nice to have a donut that doesn't make you feel awful after. They offer a bunch of gluten-free and keto options. Like this place really does leave no stone unturned when it comes to high-quality baked goods that actually give you something more than a quick sugar buzz.
Can't say enough good things about this place! A must-stop for locals and tourists alike.

[Original Review: Okay staff and lackluster food for a steep price.
Donuts can be up to $7 each and the flavor profiles are decievingly bland. I got both a passionfruit rose and double chocolate donut and neither were impressive. The passionfruit rose one specifically was very very sweet and just tasted like sugar, not even the slightest bit fruity or floral.
I also had a savory item, a $9 spinach and cheese brioche, which was also quite flavorless. I wasn't offered for it to be heated up, they plated it cold, though I don't think it would've made a difference.
The staff were nice enough though I definitely felt rushed when ordering.
Overall I think you're paying for an aesthetic over actual delicious food. I'm pretty regretful about the experience.]
The owner responded to my review with an albeit very guilty-trippy response claiming that I’ve criticized them without context. I keep my review relatively small and concise due to knowing that lengthy posts get overlooked, I paint my information in very broad strokes for people like me who scroll quickly through. The owners would like to hold me responsible in engaging in a “heartfelt possibly inspiring conversation” even encouraging/expecting me to speak directly to the bakers. During my visit staff in-person rushed me and didn’t exactly allow me the window of opportunity or comfort to open that talk. Additionally, in my situation I was merely visiting while on a business trip where I ate my donuts to-go and couldn’t even double back to give critique had I had the time or energy to do so.
Unfortunately Google reviews isn’t very thread friendly when it comes to holding that conversation, nor would it fit my 10 paragraph detailed response about my visit and the critique they so politely asked for. Ultimately when I write reviews with fellow customers in mind, I would be careful in forming an opinion seeing as HYW takes issue with saying their food is “just okay.” In their words of “being a good human” my full reply can be expected to reach them via email sometime after this update.
The original review of my experience still stands though I’ve docked points on service taking into consideration their approach in responding was addressed and worded.

How are ya’ll just good at everything??? The coffee is incredible, the food is incredible, the vibes are incredible. I’m annoyed at myself for not knowing about this shop sooner to be real honest. 100/10 ✨

So unprofessional walking in, needed to use restroom and all I got was umm can I help you. I said yes politely, may I use the restroom before I order. They responded as “yeah” in a rude manner. Donut was very bland. Highly don’t appreciate staff, prices are outrages $7 for a single donut. No thanks, never again.

Finally had the opportunity to come here and I was definitely pleased with everything. The pastries and coffee drink were delicious. But most of all the team behind the counter have a friendly and genuine vibe. Never felt rushed or pushed to hurry. Even the guest in line were kind. You can feel the love and authenticity once you walk in. I love supporting family owned small businesses. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu.
