How did this quirky gem evade my notice for five years?! I guess because they're only open Friday and Saturday. This may be the best restaurant in Pasadena. Inventive creole-inspired food. Everyone raved. Only thing I would change is to have it a little quieter. But our four-top could still converse well.
Our group took up a few tables, and the wait staff was excellent at keeping track of our individual orders. The food was surprising: so many Southern dishes, done exceedingly well. The basic shrimp and grits, for example, was so tasty. The chef-owner came to our table and explained the meaning of the name of the restaurant's name (no, it's not a riff on the Alan Parson's Project, but it is related to a song). He is gregarious and very concerned about the quality...
Excellent food and knowledgeable servers. Service a little slow but not bad. Music was too loud - probably because we were seated at a corner table. With a speaker just behind us! We would definitely go again!
