They are still open at the one at Foothill. Support them before they need to close this one as well.

I came here to try the Teriyaki bowl. It's not as good as other places. The one thing I saw make me disgusted was I saw one of the lady's were sweeping the floor, and used the same broom to sweep near the food cooking equipment.I don't see any notable signs that says if they have a food handlers certificate like other food places. They lady at the counter who took my order, instead of handing it to me, she just tossed under the plexiglass instead of laying it down carefully. Rude.I won't be coming here again.

Going to miss you... what can I say. Where else can you get a good like this for less than $15, the rolls are hand made, the tempura is fresh. Veggies are crispy, and the spicy sauce is made by hand every day how can you go wrong. Wish you didn't have to leave...

My favorite healthy lunch spot in Pasadena. Easy quick healthy and Consistent. The staff is great. They know me on a first name basis. This is my favorite go-to lunch spot. I eat here 3 times a week.

Always love Mako Bowl. Nothing pretentious; just light and yummy food. The potato salad is fire!

Been coming for years, always hits the spot when I'm craving a chicken bowl. I would recommend the spicy chicken and also the udon soup full of flavor

This place needs a MAJOR makeover .... Extremely dated decor, makes me not want to eat here, looks dirty

Warning !!!!! Do not come here guys! When I walked in, the two Mexican ladies had their mask off. Not only that , I saw them using their bare hands to stack the cutlery!! I walked out seeing how unsanitary they were !!!

Growing up this place was one of my favorite lunch spots. But now the portions at this location and the one on foothill are really small. Tried both spots to verify. Still solid food, but they don't give you much....

Mako bowl is one of my go-to fast food places. It's way better than Panda and Yoshinoya, though one could argue some locations of those two chains are worse than others (last time a Yoshinoya didn't know how to make rice it turned out to be semi congee so that was my last time at the chain). A simple teriyaki chicken bowl will set you back $6, and with that I'm full for almost the entire day (but I'm only 100lbs ish, so your caloric intake may vary). If you get other side dishes, I don't think they're THAT CHEAP (got carried away and ordered $40 worth of food from Mako Bowl once, wasn't worth it). But if you just stick with their signature, their chicken quality is solid, rice is always cooked to perfection (and they do use short grain rice as far as I can tell, not the cheaper Jasmine or other long grain varieties, true to their borrowed Japanese inspiration. Nothing wrong with Jasmine btw, I eat it on a daily basis), and they give a decent amount of broccoli & carrots on the side if you're feeling guilty about your vegetable intake for the day. Overall, a solid go-to option when you're feeling like Asian fast food.

I always liked this eatery where l can grab a quick bite of casual Japanese food. They offer affordable fast food that is satisfying. I tend to get their small chicken bowl, chicken sandwich, or Japanese fried chicken. Sometimes I order green tea. There's free 1 hour street parking nearby along Mentor Ave. They're located on the corner at the intersection, on the first floor.

CHEAP AND GOOD ! if you like cheap, good and fast. this is the spot to go. when i first came here, i was skeptical because it didnt look appealing from the outside or inside food: -chicken teriyaki $5 , pretty good size and i was stuffed. -came with a side of California roll for additional charge of 3$ - the food was made fresh after you ordered it *only issue but not their fault , the wait was really long. they will take your order, then go make your food. she will fry your food, dip into batter and fry and someone in the back will prepare non-frying dishes. (i dont have a problem with it, but if you are rush for a quick lunch/dinner, dont come last minute. call in to order ahead of time) -sushi was great and fresh. rice was not dry and portion was big. -chicken was moist, not overcooked. veggie was fresh cut and good (not frozen) *despite the old interior design, dont let it fool you, it was worth coming here. i actually wanted to go to a restaurant next door but it was pack, so i walked here and best choice. i will be back, i will call ahead of time to order. ----i hope management see this, they need another employee, the cashier in the front is working really hard. ----

They have relatively cheap food although the chicken teriyaki and beef combo I got had small portions which was a bit disappointing. The chicken udon is also decent. It included two sides, got mashed potatos which were good and the cucumber seaweed salad. During covid, I called in to order and picked up in 15 minutes. You may have to street park or there is also a parking lot in the back which requires pay.
