Our waitress was outstanding because she was familiar with the menu. She had good personality and made us feel like the stars on our 29th wedding anniversary. The top sirloin steak & ribs were cooked to our liking. The California salad has so many good flavors. Thanks Nick's staff for making our special occasion extra special.
We had the shrimp taquitos, filet and Cioppino and they were all delicious. We came early in the day so I think we missed the diner menu so we have to come back for dinner. Staff is friendly and attentive.
I have been to Nick's in San Clemente and Del Mar. Pasadena restaurant also offers authentic western food with excellent service
Always a pleasure to dine at Nick's South Lake. A favorite place to meet friends. Great service, great food, reasonable prices.
Nick's Pasadena felt like one of those nights where you dress for dinner but stay for the conversation. Effortlessly charming, quietly confident, and wrapped in a warm glow that makes you wonder if romance is really about the setting or the company or maybe the perfect mix of both. My husband ordered the meatloaf, soulful and comforting, a classic that felt reassuring in all the right ways. I chose the filet center cut, elegant and tender, rich without trying too hard. Two very different choices, yet somehow perfectly aligned. And I couldn't help but wonder isn't that what love looks like after all. The service moved with an easy rhythm, attentive but never intrusive, like it understood that some moments deserve to be uninterrupted. Nick's Pasadena is the kind of place where date night feels effortless, where conversation lingers and the evening unfolds naturally. And as I looked across the table, I couldn't help but think maybe the best love stories don't always need Paris. Sometimes, they happen right here in Pasadena.
Asparagus fries, shrimp taquitos, Cha Chas spicy rigatoni SO GOOD! Definitely coming back to try more items on the menu
Not recommended if you want to have a conversation without raising your voice. The music is always WAY TOO LOUD. Food's good though.
Food was delicious and as well service at the beginning. It's no fault to our waiter but when we asked for a piece of foil to wrap our to go food, they replied, that they didn't have any foil. Really, for a restaurant kitchen?
Food is wonderful. I've been 3x in the last 2 months. And all three times food was consistently on point. Fresh ingredients, serving portions are generous. Also their vodka dirty martini is THE BEST in town.
As always, Nick's never disappoints. I live in the Northern CA Bay Area and visit Pasadena quite often and I have to have at least one evening here for dinner.
Restaurantji Recommends
The food never disappoints. Always is amazing! Also...We needed a quieter table because my mother has a hard time hearing, and the wait staff and manager could not have been more gracious and helpful. Nick's is the best!
Perfect place for a gathering a work lunch or just dinner the food is delicious and the waiter was very attentive. Highly recommend the shrimp taquitos or the asparagus fries.
Reasonable price. Food is great especially Prime Rib dip. Nice place to have a drink also.
Nick's South Lake never disappoints. The service was on point from the moment we walked in, and every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The staff was attentive without hovering, and the entire vibe felt relaxed and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your meal and conversation without any stress. I'll definitely be back.
Great service and delicious food. The bistro plate as such a good value and the warm butter cake was amazing
