Convenient to have vegan menu items but nothing blew me away

It is a sweet moment when a creative person takes a pivot and it works out for them. I've read and heard a lot about the owners decisions. Shine a light people that our options are growing, not diminishing!!! For most of you, please take the time to check out "The Tofu Tollbook." That little paperback listed all our options including health food stores. It was a time before Whole Foods, and it was a challenge to travel. For the food, we had meat eaters at the table and I barely noticed. For our 2 dishes we ordered al seasonal curry was a yellow thai curry. It had so many good vegetables, and we added tofu. The other dish was a grain free bowl. It had great flavors that really danced in my mouth, from the kale to the pickled vegetables and the lentils at the bottom, it was delicious. Oh yea, the appetizer was fried it was a great choice. If felt reinvented and really good, real nutritional food. They even have 2 kitchens which is remarkable. It was the type of food I eat on a daily basis, but elevated and well thought out. I just know how hard it is to see all the restaurants closing, especially vegan ones, and that is not good. Anyone who is interested in whole foods veganism, check this place out. For the ambiance, eating out on the sidewalk on Sunset Blvd. on a Saturday, that was priceless. PS wait staff could be a bit more attentive. No service until after we ate. I went in and asked for the check. Updated from previous review on 2024-10-22

I’m a bit sad that it went from a plant based restaurant to now having meat on the menu. I was also sad that the butternut squash was not on the menu anymore. That was my favorite thing. I ordered the vegan nachos, but there wasn't any plant based cheese on it.

Vegan restaurant bites the dust.

I used to come here for my birthday and my husband and I were Sunday brunch regulars.

Very disappointed to see the new menu. Thankfully they still have vegan options but clearly they’ve not been dedicated to plant based eating.

Prices are higher.
And straws are now plastic, not very regenerative.

Food is good but the price is high.

Food was far too overpriced and gave us food poisoning. We had a party of both meat eaters and vegetarians and we all thought there were very few selections that sounded good.

Vegetarian options: There are a couple of vegetarian options.

The food here is very good. My formerly vegan wife is very pleased to have well sourced meat and dairy options on the menu. Basically, the way my wife usually feels when looking at a menu that has a small vegan section is how I feel here, now that it has a set of meat/dairy options. :) That being said, there are some negatives to address: The tallow fries were soggy (albeit delicious), and some of the menu items from the past are missed. Probably most importantly, the price of the food here is extravagant; understandably so, but extravagant, nonetheless.

Vegetarian options: Being a formerly vegan restaurant, most items are still vegetarian, with clearly noted "regenerative" sourced meat and dairy items now offered.

We got a hair in our food and the eggplant pizza was very spicy.

The service was good as they replaced the food as soon as we told them.

This used to be a go-to spot for us. They deserve all the hate they are getting and more. They decided they were willing to sell dead animals in order to make more money. Betrayed all the vegans that supported them but more importantly betrayed all the dead animals on their plates. They suck.

Been coming to Sage for many years and was appreciative that it was all vegan. I love their Cali avocado tempeh “burger. Very disappointed that they can't make good fries, though. They are soggy and tasteless. Server confirmed this is how they usually are.

Pokey, things took really long to get to us, and I had to get up to ask a couple of times to ask specific things. It wasn't clear as to what the issue was, but our server kept disappearing for longer periods of time and what should have been a cute hour and a bit brunch took about 3 hours when we had somewhere to go. We weren't asking for the sun and stars, we were asking for brunch to be served in a timely manner.

We were seated in a very crowded corner though a lot of tables were available and since the party next to us was a larger group there for a birthday party it was very loud Also it's was so hot and AC in this area was very weak We had the delicious food while sweating! The service was very good but twice someone tried to deliver someone else's pizza order to us Finding the place was somewhat of a maze due to construction and we were also told on the phone there was validation for parking and then turns out we parked in the only lot that they didn't give validation for ~ Bathroom also outside where you need code like at a fast food place or something - hot and musty in there too Was a mixed experience for sure - Will come back to explore the cute shopping area though for sure
