We haven’t been to Shogun for about a year and but every time we have been the food has been consistently good but not last night. We always have the tempura and love the dipping sauce but it doesn’t taste the same, the waitress was even nice enough to have the kitchen make us a new batch but it wasn’t good. The fried rice also wasn’t the same, I know a lot of restaurants are using cheaper ingredients to save money and I don’t know if that is the case here but for the prices they are charging I expect better. Needless to say we will not be back. The only good thing about our experience was our lovely servers.

Definitely will have to go back to check this location out to give it five stars. Being it was valentines day it was super busy and the dinning area was super packed. The ventilation system was not the best it was pretty smokey in there.
But over all it was a good time the cook was amazing and had a good show and the food tasted great.
The service was good really didn't have to wait for much.

I'll return on a non busy day and time.

Great welcome by the staff. Fun evening with a talented chef/entertainer. Lots of food, so don't order too much unless you want to take out leftovers. Go. It's fun and delicious!

Tom was our chef for my family and he was exceptional! He made us laugh and the food was so delicious! Coming back just for him 😁

Been coming for years. The food is always solid. Great steaks and seafood. We got pasta and potatoes this time which was a little weird. We will ask for no pasta (linguini) next time. Rika is the best server. We really enjoy her!!

This place is awful! I do not recommend at all since they recently changed ownership. The Shogun in Pasadena is still the same owner and very good!!!

I’ve been going for 40 years. I agree with other reviews. I do not think noodles instead of sprouts was a good switch. And I did not care for the broccoli and potatoes. I wish it was the same as it used to be.

Nice place, expect to spend some cash, they have a pretty good happy hour and okay for kids the cooks really entertained the children 😊

I’ve been coming here 15+ years and loved everything about the place and food! But recently I think they got new management and now the new menu changes don’t justify the price increase. The new food additions like the noodles (were bland), broccoli and potatoes to the veggies are a weird combo to have. Why did they try to “fix” something that wasn’t broken ;/ Used to be my go to spot.

My wife and I visited Shogun in Pasadena, CA, to celebrate New Year's Eve and her birthday — it was a special occasion for us! We were seated promptly, and the waiter came by quickly to take our order and bring our drinks.
We waited about 30 minutes for the chef to arrive and begin the show, which felt a bit long, but once he started, it was worth it. The chef was funny, polite, and clearly a good person overall — he really made the experience enjoyable and entertaining. He reviewed our order, asked a few clarifying questions, and then proceeded with the full hibachi performance.
I ordered the filet mignon, and my wife got the steak, along with an order of fried rice and vegetables. The show and service were solid, and we left mostly satisfied with the fun atmosphere.
That said, there were a couple of disappointments with the food. My filet mignon didn't taste like the classic simple preparation I was expecting — it had a noticeable soy sauce flavor, and it came out well done instead of the rare I wanted (I prefer just salt, black pepper, and a nice sear). The fried rice also felt a bit dry and overcooked.
Overall, it was a memorable evening thanks to the chef's personality and the celebratory vibe, but next time I'd make sure to clearly emphasize the desired doneness and seasoning preferences when ordering. It's a great spot for the show and special occasions — just double-check your steak preferences with the chef!

Very good experience. Could have had more seasoning on the food but all good.
