What wonderful pleasant staff. Nothing better than smiling friendly people at a service establishment.

Incident date: December 11, 2025
Time: Approximately 8:52 PM to 8:58 or 8:59 PM

For the record, before writing this review, I informally consulted and confided with district managers who were holding a team meeting at the Malibu Country Mart location because Adel’s behavior had become uncomfortable and unprofessional, and I wanted guidance before it escalated further. I was told the issue would be flagged and reported to corporate. I am writing this now because the behavior continued and escalated. If needed, there are identifiable witnesses who can confirm I raised these concerns in good faith.

On December 11, 2025, a family entered the restroom around 8:45 PM, so I had to wait. I then used the restroom only from approximately 8:52 PM to 8:58 or 8:59 PM and made sure to exit before 9:00 PM. When questioned, Adel asked what time it was and I showed her my phone clearly displaying 8:59 PM. Despite being within policy, I was confronted aggressively and threatened with being banned.

For transparency, the very first incident occurred 2 to 3 months before any escalation when I used the restroom for about 10 to 15 minutes. At that time, I was not aware of any time related policy. Once it was brought to my attention, I listened and adjusted immediately, which is why I was careful on December 11.

When I calmly tried to understand why Adel was being so rude and hostile toward me, she yelled ā€œthis is bullshitā€ across the parking lot, making it public, personal, and humiliating. It also appears she focuses on me disproportionately regarding restroom use, while other customers, including people who did not purchase anything, are not questioned the same way. This feels targeted and discriminatory rather than neutral policy enforcement.

This situation also shows a lack of ADA awareness. Employees do not know whether a customer may need restroom access for medical reasons, including digestive or ostomy related conditions, and the way this was handled was inappropriate.

I have worked in customer service and restaurant settings, and policies can be enforced without hostility. Adel appears either disengaged from her role or unable to handle authority and pressure appropriately. She could not calmly communicate basic policy information that I was completely unaware of. Those are not the attributes of someone who should be operating in a leadership or authority role within a store.

Other employees and management allowing and enabling this behavior reflects poorly on Starbucks. There are cameras that can verify my conduct if reviewed. I would not be reporting this if it were not serious.

I walked in to To a rude employee by the name of Jordan, no smile, no greeting just ā€œwhat do you wantā€ when I asked for a simple hot water I was told I had to make a purchase. Just the night before I asked for the same thing and it was given to me. Some people just don’t want to do their job and it very disheartening.

Always the worst starbucks. I've been in well over a thousand stores. The nitwit Manager still things covid protocols are still required. But only if the customer is poor. it's disgusting behavior. This store should be closed until they can find a manager who doesn't goose step home. But what do you expect from starbucks? they could not care less anymore. 🤮

I had a really disappointing experience here today.
I ordered my drink, sat down. A woman working there was cleaning and as she walked by I noticed her and politely acknowledged her with a smile. She gave me a dirty look and walked off. Moments later, she comes back to me to tell me I couldn’t be in the store unless I ordered something. I explained that I had already ordered.

Not even a minute later, a man walked in from off the street asking only for the bathroom code. He hadn’t ordered anything, yet the same employee gave him the code without hesitation.

When I politely asked why I was confronted but he wasn’t, her exact response was ā€œBecause I did.ā€ No explanation, no apology, just open inconsistency and acceptance of that customers are treated differently in this store. The employee was visibly hostile and completely unapologetic about giving different customers different treatment.

The issue isn’t the bathroom code; it’s the double standard. If the store has policies, they should apply them fairly and professionally.

I left my drink on the counter and left. I would recommend not coming here. Customers are treated unfairly.

November 22, 2025. 4:15 ish p.m. No customer service at all. The floor and tables were dirty. The cashier (female with dark hair and glasses) smelled like alcohol. Pesticide taste to the coffee. Low quality products and offensive employees. The atmosphere was of the dreadful and tragic variety, a heavy gravity (weigh down). Was someone shot and killed inside? Do yourself a favor and have your coffee or tea at home. Buy organic from a grocery store.

If I can them 0 star I would. They made me wait after I placed my order in the store because an employee decided to put my drink on the other pre-order counter instead of thr bar. They watched me waiting but no one bothered to say anything. 20 minutes later I asked and they handed a semi warm drink.

Literally just bought Starbucks down the street and forgot to use the restroom. I stopped at the next Starbucks I saw and showed them that I was just at Starbucks and made a purchase and asked to use the restroom. The rep, Adele was pretty useless. She claims they just adopted a policy that requires everyone to make a purchase before using the restroom. Therefore I had to pay to use the bathroom. Lol
CRAZY. Don’t come here and definetly don’t ask Adele for a favor. She’s far from helpful.

How’s this for a review:

I came in here while I was waiting for my car to be repaired when it acted up unexpectedly this morning. After sitting for a few minutes I was told by an employee that I had to make a purchase if I wanted to stay. A new policy put in this year, ā€œI’m sorry,ā€ they said.

I’ve been a loyal starbucks gold card customer for decades and I have never been harassed like this at a starbucks for simply sitting there. It was as if my very presence was offensive, like I was some sort of criminal. Doubly disturbing considering the stressful morning I’d had to far. So I walked 1/2 mile to a public library, the last place that doesn’t try to suck money out of you at any cost.

I thought starbucks was a nice place to spend some time, but now I see it has been sacrificing it’s reputation for a desire for profit at all costs. It’s time to find a new coffee place.

Consistently solid experience at this Starbucks. The coffee is reliable, and the menu has a good range of drinks and snacks for all tastes. Staff are usually friendly and efficient, though service can slow down during peak hours.

The space is clean and great for a quick stop or getting some work done if there’s seating available. Mobile ordering is super convenient. Prices are on the higher side, but you know what you are getting. Overall, a dependable spot for your caffeine fix.

I wasn't treated with a welcoming service there. I was just sitting there for five minutes after coming from a long walk down foothill Blvd from a job interview. I asked one of the girls that was working there that was cleaning the sugar and napkins area if they were hiring, and her response right away was that I couldn't be inside if I didn't purchase anything. She didn't even answer my question and threw me off by asking me to leave! Even if I hadn't purchased anything at that moment, you just don't tell someone that out of courtesy. That was very unprofessional service and unwelcoming and I am glad I am never again going to set foot in this Starbucks.
