Dinner with a dear friend led me to a new gem she insisted I try. The Washington district has truly undergone a transformation, with trendy spots breathing fresh life into the neighborhood. We landed at the most charming little Asian restaurant, slipping into line just before it stretched three times longer. I ordered their flavorful fried rice while my friend opted for a hearty noodle bowl—both dishes an absolute delight. With its inviting vibe and delicious fare, this spot is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area.
**ps. It was hot inside even though I saw they set their AC at 70F. The thermostat says 85F.

Everything was so so salty. We also got the sesame noodles but I’ve never had such thick and mushy like noodles? Very weird texture. Very average Chinese food overall
I ordered pick up here and got beef noodles and they were perfect. I got a pork belly bao and that was also great. All in all you can't go wrong. The dining area is lovely. I recommend staying here and dining in if you can.

Really wanted to like this place but will not be returning. Their food is more salty than flavorful. I got the pork sandwich and five spice wings. For both dishes, even though they were theoretically completely different ingredients, the overwhelming flavor was just of soy sauce. Also $16 for a small sandwich is kind of absurd, as is $10 for a pastry (bolo bun which I didn’t end up getting). With the one entree, a side, and a tea, I ended up spending almost $40 and the portions were quite small.
I also came alone and sat at a two person table, and after awhile a worker tried to get me to move to the bar to accommodate more people. It was quite cramped at the bar and I would’ve been elbow to elbow with people so I politely refused, but it felt a bit weird to be asked that since I paid for my food and had got there first. I would understand if I was seated at a 4 person table or something, but it was literally just a tiny corner seat.
Personally think it’s a bit overhyped, but if you want to try it, I suggest getting there ten or so minutes before opening as it gets really crowded fast.

Hip Taiwanese restaurants will get all my supports! Yes we need more fun fusion twists on Taiwanese cuisines and this place has it all!! From decor to merchandise, dish/ drinks to to-go sauce, the owners have really put lots of thoughts into the place. And the possibilities of this place is endless! Not to mention the outdoor seating is TRUELY Taiwanese night market scene 🤣🤣🤣 I took my American friends here to try more Taiwanese food and we ended up ordered the 2nd time there with the Taiwanese beer.
May I say, expend the drinks to Kavalan whisky and Taiwanese inspired cocktails (and mocktails) for the drink connoisseurs? Just my 5-cents!
Please bring your friends and go check out this place! 👏👏😋

Woon was an interesting experience. Food is good, portions are relatively small. the flavors are well balanced but I wasn’t blown away. We came in on a weekday at 6:30/7pm and the place was filled with families with multiple kids- nothing to do with the restaurant per se but it made it hard to talk or enjoy your meal because you couldn’t hear your thoughts over the noise.

I wasn’t expecting much from Woon, but it surprised me at how bad it was. As someone who grew up eating Chinese food, I found the dishes here nearly inedible. The noodles were dry, gummy, and oddly chewy, as if undercooked. The beef noodles were bitter, the meat tough, and the flavor profile flat and tasting like just salt. Cold sesame noodles tasted like an “Asian-inspired” salad dressing found in a Walmart.
The tofu and cucumber side was passable but very small. The milk tea bolo bao was extremely dry, and the cream had a strange lemony flavor that completely overpowered any milk tea notes.
Portions were tiny, and I left feeling nauseous. The decor and branding feel like a distraction from the lackluster food. Woon seems more targeted toward people unfamiliar with Chinese cuisine than those looking for something genuinely flavorful.

Really good food, great interiors, recommend going when/before they open to avoid waiting in line
How to order: wait in line until you get to the cashier, where you’ll order, receive a table number, and either be seated right away or asked to wait to the side until a table frees up. I recommend grabbing a menu in front while you wait in line so you know what to order when you get to the front.
Brunch is great - the chicken congee and pork chop sandwich are delicious. If you’re already ordering a pork chop sandwich and a milk tea French toast, I’d skip getting an additional bolo bao from the pastry case because it’s the same bolo bao from the pork sandwich and the same oolong custard from the French toast
Dinner is also really good, highly recommend the noodles which have a satisfying chew to them, the chicken wings, and the pork belly bao. They also have a great curation of canned drinks and wine.

Restaurantji Recommends
What an absolute gem, this restaurant is superb. The atmosphere is very casual but the food is extremely delicious and made with care. The value is great, everything is reasonably priced with nice portions and full of flavor. The pork belly melts in your mouth and is very satisfying. The noodles are so chewy and tastes wonderful. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth checking out and trying different dishes.

Great spot serving the classics. The noodles were amazing but the portions were small compared to traditional restaurants that typically serve family style. Good spot for a date night or small group. The service was quick and friendly. Loved the attention to detail with the decor

I tried Woon for the first time today as I've been hearing great things from the LA location but sadly, I was utterly disappointed in the quality of food that was provided.
My partner and I ordered the Chinese five spice wings, Beef noodles, and pork over rice and it was not good at all.
The Wings: These came out instantly. I didn't know it wasn't made to order (it was also luke warm). They were crispy yet, slightly soggy and lacked flavor. All I tasted was salt on these. I would recommend going a little heavier on the spices and less on the sodium. Maybe even add a little honey for a glaze.
The Noodles: The noodles came quickly, also luke warm, after the wings, which made me think this was just made in a batch (I could be wrong, I hope I am). As for the taste, the texture of the noodles were good. Everything else in terms of flavor was just sodium. There was no depth to the bowl at all.
The Rice: This was arguably the worst out of the three. The Rice itself was disgusting. It was soggy and I'm not sure if this is the usual rice you eat in Chinese cuisine or if it was just prepared incorrectly. Rice is a big part of Chinese cuisine so if that's not good, it sets the bar for the rest. The pork itself was tender but it lacked flavor.
What I do want to call out on a good note was the ambiance and friendly service. The chili crunch was delicious so I have to give credit where credit is due.
Overall, I don't recommend this place for their food, especially since I don't think this is made to order for the wings and noodles. I do recommend this place for a quick bite, friendly service, and good ambiance.
I hope the kitchen staff takes these comments as constructive and I hope to try this place again.

Woon is one of those rare gems that gets everything right. The chewy beef handmade noodles are out of this world—perfectly textured, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. You can taste the care that goes into making them fresh. Every dish I’ve tried has been consistently delicious, but those noodles? Unmatched.
Beyond the food, the vibe and atmosphere are what keep me coming back. It has that effortlessly cool, laid-back feel where you can relax, enjoy amazing food, and just soak in the energy. If I could go here every day I definitely would.
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Woon is easily my favorite restaurant, period.
