The slippery shrimp is the signature item. Hot and soup soup is tops. Never had a bad entrée

Great food and service! Very rare to find an authentic Chinese restaurant with great service! Fast, efficient, attentive, and nice! I'm used to the typical not-so great service, so this place was like a breath of fresh air. Atmosphere was pleasant upon arrival at 8pm Saturday, but still able to get a seat right away. It wasn't overly crowded, unlike other popular Chinese restaurants. Food was excellent. Couldnt finish everything, so we had plenty of leftovers which makes the overall price even more worth it. We will definitely go back when in the area again.

Came here for lunch and waitress wasnt very helpful with explaining the lunch menu. I ordered the chicken w bean sprouts and a spring roll . The plate didn't look very appealing. Chicken looked like strips that were like flat tongues with sprouts that were drenched in a white clear sauce. The brown rice had a little bit of a burned flavor. I put soy sauce on it and it tasted a little better. And it wasn't a spring roll it was an egg roll ( fried). The waitress didn't come to our table once to ask if everything was OK or if we wanted more water etc. My mom had the sweet n sour pork. That was ok but the pineapple in it was not very good....and her egg roll was little soggy. Never going back.....

This afternoon I was about to have a little dinner with my husband at this place , but the experience it was totally disconcerting and unpleasant , the waitress made a mistake in my order and on top of that she came very Rude and without respect to argue with me. Also a coworker came at my table with the awful attitude. I won’t recommend this restaurant thanks to the employee's that were working today around 5:30pm. They don’t have an idea what the meaning of customer service is.

I am not going to return to that awful place, a part of the staff especially who works in today's afternoon shift is incompetent, unprofessional, disrespectful, they insulted me and claimed me because I returned an order that was not mine, two of those employees came to the table to yell at me and insult me in addition to forcing me to eat their wrong plate, they began to scream in their language which altered the noise throughout the restaurant, the truth was an unpleasant moment after leaving my house with the intentions of enjoying the afternoon and a meal With my wife, if you want to be mistreated and poorly taken care of, go to this place especially when today's staff is there, you can check the staff show on camera around 5:20 pm. Conveniently located in Pasadena, parking is great compared to Chinatown. We usually order slippery chicken and salt and pepper porkchop. Although, it's our favorite, the taste and flavor has been inconsistent. Their service is also a hit or miss but is better than other Chinese restaurants around the area. Since Chinatown is always busy and driving there can be a hassle, we tend to visit this location often.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.

Terrible food.

Terrible serve.

Unsanitary conditions.

And a dash of racism.

I have been looking for a good old-school Chinese American spot for a while and had hoped Yang Chow would be a new favorite. I was wrong. So wrong.

First, we arrived yesterday, Friday at around 2:30. There was not a single other soul here, red flag #1. Okay, well it's mid-day, no biggie I thought.

I walk in and we are greeted and told "Sit anywhere" Okay, no problem. My daughter and I take a seat and we are offered tea which I accept. The tea was bland even after a long brew time. Okay, no biggie.

I tried asking some questions about the food but the lady had very limited English and didn't seem to understand or care and just barked back the names of the dishes. We ordered sweet and sour pork, Schezuan chicken, pork fried rice, and to-go wonton soup, pepper beef, and crispy pan-fried noodle.

Here is the overview:

(1/5 Stars) Sweet and Sour Pork: Very tough gristle-filled meat. Most of the meat was inedible. I spit most of it out because it was so chewy.

(2/5 Stars) Szechuan Chicken: Better than the pork but surprisingly one note and nothing particularly memorable.

(2.5/5 Stars) Pork Fried Rice: The rice itself was okay but the pork strips were very chewy and inedible.

(1/5 Stars) (Wonton Soup: Incredibly bland. No flavor, not even any broth richness. Pork inside the wontons was flavorless. The whole soup was really terrible.

(2.5/5 Stars) Pepper Beef: Less bad, the meat was actually tender, with some flavor but sauce was thin and runny).

(1/5 Stars) Crispy Pan Fried Noodle: The worst of the already bad bunch. The majority of the noodles looked like they had been boiled and just thrown into the container totally naked. No sauce, no oil, no frying, nothing. And yet the edge of the noodle block was fried to a black char. I suspect the noodles were cold and thrown into a pan without any seasoning not stirred and put into our to-go containers. It was so bad it was embarrassing.

Now for the worst of the experience. Once our order was taken I looked over and saw a waitress sitting at a booth chopping broccoli with her bare hands. No gloves, no hair net, and while sitting at a customer booth. Gross.

Then I couldn't help but notice that after the waitress took out the order they started speaking loudly in their language and looking conspicuously back at us, and laughing, big cackling laughs. I heard the woman yell something toward the kitchen and an old Chinese man (cook) came out and literally looked right at us and pointed and they all started talking and laughing.

My thirteen-year-old daughter was very disturbed and said, "Mom I think they are laughing at us." They sure are honey, they sure f*cking are.

Looking at the one-star reviews another gal (clearly non-Chinese) had the same kind of experience. We did nothing to warrant such treatment. No one was rude to them. We weren't loud. Nobody was dressed scandalously (not that any of that would warrant the treatment we got). The ONLY thing I can think of is that we are Mexican American. Considering how nice we were I can only assume this was straight-up racism and prejudice.

This place deserves to be shut down. They are horrible on every level and I hope they get what they deserve. Judging by how empty the place was I suspect people have already figured out they don't deserve your money.

Portions are generous, food delicious and at lunch time two people eat for about $40 dollars.

Too congested for Pasadena crowds. Ample free parking. Service is great, but the food quality and quantity bring down the value. Sorry, but this was first and last.

Parking: Plenty.

Owner gave the wrong pick up order and refuses to admit error, claiming he NEVER makes a mistake. Places all blame on the customer.
