Derby Wine Estates in Paso Robles makes a variety of interesting, refreshing varietal wines and blends, in a super-interesting building. The family got their start growing grapes in 1998, gaining the farming knowledge needed to make great wines. 10 years later, they launched their own label. Now located in the historic Almond Growers Association building in downtown Paso Robles, they continue to create high-quality wines and a lovely pink sparkling wine made of Pinot Noir.Age has added an amber color and tart fruit complexity to the 2007 vintage.Perfect for the Paso wine lover or pink bubbles lover.

My husband and I used to come up and visit this winery when in town, or passing through over the last few years. Not sure what happened but its just not the same. It used to be very fun, welcoming, great staff, and a great experience. What a shame.

The wines are exceptional and reasonably priced. They seem to have all types of wine. So, no matter your palate, they have a wine for you. Their staff, most especially Dan and Ron, are personable and friendly. There's nothing pretentious about this place. Becoming a member was a no-brainer. Come to Derby and you'll be refreshingly surprised.

Had a wonderful time celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary with Sean as our host. Been wanting to try Derby for quite some time. Really happy that we opted for the special tasting in the tower upstairs. Sean kicked us off with the 2007 sparkling Pinot Noir and it was delicious. We were able to try 7 other wines and liked most of them. Sean made us feel very welcome, knows a ton about the wine and area and is such a nice guy with a good sense of humor. Thanks for helping to make our anniversary feel special! It's a beautiful winery and I highly recommend people to stop by and check it out. We're going to check out the music on Friday evening. Should be a good time!!

Excellent wines, excellent service. It's wonderful how passionate they are about their wine. We went on July 3rd and had a great time. We're more white drinkers, but we reaalllyyyy enjoyed their reds A LOT! Had to take some Manearer bottles to go. Highly recommend!

Thank you Sean and Danny for a wonderful time today! We chose this place because it fit our route back home and had great reviews. We had no idea what a gem this place is. Wine tasting is about the wine yes BUT its also about the experience. Sean and Danny make sure your experIence is unique and special. Favorites are 2010 Bouchée D'or and 2017 Graciano.

Can't say enough about how much we thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting here at Derby. Both Emily and Danny were exceptional at making sure we knew exactly what was in each glass, and gave us invaluable information about the vineyards and what goes into their winemaking. On a cold and rainy morning it was nice to get a warm greeting as we were there right when they opened for the day. We settled in for the classic tasting, and came away with some delicious bottles. We were also able to taste their Viognier and Graciano from the reserve tasting, and are excited to share those with friends. Definitely a tasting room to put on your Paso Wine Trail map.

What a find! Beautiful 5th floor lounge with 360 deg views. Very gracious hosts and the wine is excellent! Great history and quite a story of how they got here - we really enjoyed our visit.

Tasting was awfully slow, only 2 tables and the guy was playing on his phone at the counter, spend 5 seconds to talk about the wine , 25 minutes between pours. I stand corrected, there were 3 guys at the counter. One of those places you don't go back ever again.

We have been twice, once with members and once as a walk-ins , Danny has been excellent both times. You can tell he is knowledgeable about each wine and enjoys what he does! A great conversationalist, he makes the experience enjoyable and was happy to explain things when I was a 21yo newbie. Now that we have gone back more experienced it was so nice to listen about his favorites and to hear him talk more specifically about recommendations. I think he’s made us customers for life!

June 14, 2022My husband and I went to Derby Winery Tasting Room in Paso Robles. Middle of the afternoon on a hot June day and we were the only customers in the room. The young gentleman helping us was very friendly and knowledgeable and made great suggestions to help make our experience very enjoyable. We discovered two wines that we liked very much and purchased a bottle each.Thank you to Derby Winery for giving us a very nice afternoon! They are now our new favorite winery!
