Each course was thoughtfully curated and expertly paired, highlighting ingredients and wines in ways that were both surprising and delightful.

Somm’s Kitchen is a restaurant, and it serves good food. But more accurately, Somm’s Kitchen is the premier wine experience the Central Coast has to offer. Ian, the proprietor, is a veritable vault of wine knowledge and the passion he displays as he explains each course and it’s double (!) wine pairing is second to none. The wines he selects change every evening, and they are seriously good. I'm 40, and tonight he served a Bordeaux two years older than me. It was an unforgettable experience! There is a reason why reservations for Somm’s Kitchen are so difficult to come by. Do yourself a favor and snatch one up if you can.

This is a special, special place. The whole experience was wonderful and Ian (the Somm in question, owner and chef) was so knowledgeable and patient with all our questions. We were so lucky to get a space off the waitlist for one of the lunches (typically booked months in advance - plan ahead!) and we walked in with no real expectations but everything was a total delight. The food was DELICIOUS (of particular note - the French Onion soup cheese, he says he makes this almost every time) and was a great way to experience the various wines (I think he served us 11 different in the end). Amazing and HIGHLY recommend!!!

This is a review I never wanted to write, because I truly respect what Ian is doing, but after nearly 3 years of being given the run around by him, I need to make sure others are aware. My husband and I visited Somm's Kitchen for lunch and had such a delightful experience that we made a reservation for ourselves and two other couples for a future meal -- for which we were required to pre-pay at $150/person. A few weeks ahead, the other couples' plans changed, so we reached out to let Ian know it would just be the two of us. He assured us he would have no issue filling the seats, and that he would refund us for the other 4 guests. We arrived to the lunch to see all seats filled. Ian confirmed to us in person that he was able to fill the seats and said he would refund us the $600 for the other 4 guests following the meal. After a week or so of not hearing anything, we reached out and he let us know we would receive the refund through Tock. This began a run around of over a year where we would reach out and he would say he had been traveling and how "mortified" he was that we have not received our refund. I spoke with another friend who was a member of his wine club in the past and she shared that she had sadly experienced something similar. It has been nearly 3 years and we have given up on the refund, but cannot in good faith spend any more money with Ian, or recommend that anyone else do the same. We have lived in Paso nearly 4 years and are regularly asked for dinner recommendations by visiting friends. There are countless great options in Paso, where you don't risk losing hundreds of dollars to someone who does not appear to be an honest broker.
